I find really interesting the fact that you choose three perfect songs to describe Stray Kids 😂 'District 9' is about them not knowing who they are and trying to escape from the 'copy-paste' industry; God's Menu is about them finding their flavour (their music identity) and presenting it to the world; and JJAM (sounds like 'fun' in Korean) is about them playing spreading their flavour everywhere all around the world❤ I really enjoyed your reaction

If you’ve listened to other K-pop, throw away any notion of what you think K-pop is. You’ve just discovered the most” do it our way and break the mold” group. They are self produced and have hundreds of song credits. Their discography is vast and varied. They made history by having their first five entries debut at No1 in the Billboard 200. Won the VMA for best K-pop video 2023 for S-Class

    They debuted in 2018
    They are ages 23 - 26
    Fandom name is Stay
    #2 Best Selling Artist in U.S 2023
    #3 Globally Best Selling 2023
They are unique for several reasons...
First, the leader Bang Chan was allowed by JYP to hand pick all of the members himself. They were not placed together in a traditional way, by the company.
Second all of them are all arounders. They can all sing, rap, dance, produce and write.
Third, they have written and produced about 99% of their music.
Numbers of songs each member has copyrighted according to Korean Music Association (KOMCA) so far...
Bang Chan 193 (#3 in KPop)
    Changbin 163
    Han 161
    Hyunjin 27
    Felix 22
    I.N 21
    Seungmin 20
    Lee Know 17
While they can all do everything they do have 3 different subunits...
3Racha... Bang Chan, Chang Bin and Han which are the main producers and lyricists. They are always credited as 3Racha.
    3Racha Achievements
    - Producers of Consecutive Five Time Billboard 200 #1 album debuts - only group in history
    - Hot 100 Hitmakers
    - 3rd, 11th, 12th Most Credited Idols on KOMCA
    - Produced Albums Sold Over 20 Million Copies
    - Japan Hot 100 Hitmakers
    - 100+ Weeks on Hot 100 Lyricists
    - 100+ Weeks On Hot 100 Composers
    - 2023 Asia Artist Awards Best Creator
    - Makers of Time Magazines 2020 #8 Best Song (their song Backdoor)
Danceracha... Lee Know (in charge of leading dance practices), Felix and Hyunjin. They also contribute to the choreography.
    Vocalracha... Seungmin and I.N
While the songs are hype they always have significant meaning to them. Their lyricism is always insane.
Since they are so experimental their sound has its own genre and they have a very diverse discography.
Example... Gods Menu, Back Door and Case 143 all completely different sounds.

You also should add Woojin, who was a member in 2018/2019 but left to be a soloist. There were issues with him being a bully (especially to Felix, I believe), but I don’t know much about this so I can’t say too much. You can search on Google for further informations. Anyway, Stray Kids had 9 members in its debut, and we can see and hear Woojin in District 9 as well.

@akihayashi2574 No, I just don't talk about him. If I did I would say there used to be 9 members but one left in 2018 for personal reasons because no one really knows why. I'm not going to spread rumors further.

24:37 I really love how you noticed that because YES they do have a LOT of involvement and control since they WRITE and PRODUCE almost all of their music (mostly 3 members: Bang Chan, Changbin and Han that form the producing line 3Racha) so that is why their style and music is so unique and personal, they have done a lot of diferent genres but always putting their signature. I really enjoyed your reaction.

  • @shellic5166

They are unique in the kpop world, they themselves write and produce almost all their own songs. They were talking about their newest album and that they wanted to try out the pop genre more. When they were done they decided it didn't sound enough like them and they went back and changed a lot. Changbin said this is why the release was later because they didn't feel like it had the quality and sound they wanted. They ended up making it Stray Kids sound with pop elements. They are beyond talented and there is so much to learn about them. They have always stuck to who they were even when the industry and people were ripping on them for being just noise music. Love them!

I love that you enjoyed JJAM so much hahaha. I was curious how someone who doesn't know stray kids that well would react to it. One of the members, I.N, described listening to it as getting hit over the head. It's definitely unique lol. This group has a lot of unique songs, so if you like that, you're in the right place!
If you want to get into more Stray Kids, I think you should watch the MVs for Maniac and Venom from their 2022 album ODDINARY (Honestly listen to this whole album even if you don't react to it, it has very unique production). You listened to JJAM, but Chk Chk Boom is actually the title track of their most recent comeback, so give that a listen. Slash is an OST they released recently for the Deadpool & Wolverine movie. It has no MV, but you might like it. There's also LALALALA and MEGAVERSE from their album ROCK-STAR... There's honestly so much I could recommend, but I'll stop here.
Anyways, this was a great video! I enjoyed seeing your reaction to these songs and how you were honest about what you liked/didn't like. Keep it up!

Yaaa I've watched all your bts reactions and now I'm seeing my ult group, stray kids! Haha you've got 3 songs here in the typical stray kids genre (mala taste), but they actually do over 40 genres in their music, very versatile. :D If you want something completely different, try songs like secret secret or scars (first take). They also just released a new album (ATE), you could check that out.
After 'sing' you saw vocalracha - their vocal subunit
After 'dance' you saw dancheraca - their dance unit
After 'rap' you saw their main rappers, part of 3RACHA (the producing unit)
That leaves one member which is Bang Chan, who ended the song (he's the leader and part of 3RACHA subunit aswell)
The units are fun for projects and point out their specialties, but they're all vocalists, rappers and dancers. They can all do everything well.
They produce 99% of their music themselves btw, probably the group in kpop with the most control over their music.

24:25 wow, I’m a fan and watched this m/v a several times but didn’t notice that! You are a genius, because it’s really makes sense since SKZ have this 3 parts inside the group (people that have a more focus on certain skill): danceracha (3 members), 3racha (producing and rap focused 3 members) and vocalracha (2 members). Even in the choreography to this song these units have it’s own parts!
It’s my first time on your channel and I really liked your reaction, I like that you obviously have knowledge and good attention on details that makes your opinion constructive :) Also you did a great job choosing the songs to introduce yourself to this group.
I’m happy that you like Gods Menu, it’s a catchy song, its message is that once you discover Stray Kids, you’ll get addicted to them cause they have so much different genres in discography that everyone will find ‘dish’ for their ‘taste’! Btw they even have their own called Malataste.
Also for me it’s obvious whats your favorite member already 😂 It’s HAN (Han Jisung)! One of the producers, main rapper and vocalist, he can do everything actually.

Stay sound off! Welcome to Stray Kids! I don't want to just repeat everyone else so I will say glad you are checking them out and you also really seemed to like Han's rapping and also his vocals. Han is our ace of the group. His rapping flow really hooked me too. Also watching people react to Felix's voice for the first time never gets old. We call it the Felix effect. If it helps his personality matches his face not his voice. Seriously though he actually has a wide range. One of their other songs off this album was called Stray Kids (watch some other videos before that one. It references so many of their older songs and their journey) and Felix started it with beautiful mid range singing that many newer fans couldnt believe was actually Felix. They love to surprise us. They change sounds and genres frequently and often within the same song. S-Class is a perfect example of that. I hope you check out some more!

Love your honest and insightful reaction!
I love that you noticed God's Menu start and end the same; songs build to a climax and they came in with it. It's like starting your meal with dessert and Stray Kids are very intentional with everything they do.
They are famous for word play, transitions, and unique sound.
3Racha is the rap unit and production unit of the group; Bang Chan, Han, and Changbin were making music together before Stray Kids was formed and they create all the beats and are heavily involved in all aspects of production.
JJam highlights the subunits very well, but if you go further down this rabbit hole you'll see that all 8 can sing, all 8 can rap, and all 8 can dance.
I promise you won't regret this journey and I'll gladly sub to enjoy it with you.

Over 200 songs in their discography, to think that they were 21 to 17 when tbey debuted, and still were putting together bangers at such a young age! They actually released a m/v to a song they had to put together during their "survival" show when the group was being formed. Tbe song is Hellevator, and is pretty special as their genesis.

Ty for checking out Stray Kids!!! They are soooo very special and unique--from their back stories and personalities to their master class word play/music production. JJam lyrics utilize several different layers of meaning from a child hood game of "dori dori jam(?)," to the Korean word for fun, the English word for dancing , the idea of jam being a traffic blockage, and finally the meaning of jam as being sticky. The mv is meant to be a fun horror concept. The way that the visuals and choreo match the lyrics and production is CLASSIC SKZ😂, and sick transitions are their calling card. Other songs along this bent that you might like are "why?" (Lyric video only), "christmas evil," and "get lit." They also do a million other sounds, though. For something completely different: "cover me" (lyric video only), "scars, "lonely street," "chill." Subbing in hopes you will do a stray kids deep dive. There are literally so many different things to share when it comes to these boys❤

HAN hits different. he really is a gem. Its not even an popularity contest. Bro is just using his talents and wittyness to the max in whatever he does. Hence my favourite. he really doesnt limit himself to looks, dance or voice. He makes sure to practice in every segment and every bit of the music industry. Whether its writing, composing, singing, rapping, dancing, freestyling, adlibbing or making solo songs on himself or for members, doing 2 of 3 times the job of another member. And the fact that he writes and makes songs the fastest out of everyone including Chan. He really is genius. No wonder he needs his sleep or forgets lyrics or dance. As opposed to how much his brain functions and works. He does excel in a whole different way. Ace doesnt do him justice. The guy is a powerhouse❤

Very good reaction. I also like how you picked song, it is good way to know them for the first time, although with SKZ you never expect 2 songs be the same, so you have a lot to discover. "They are different" - yes, exactly why i fell for nearly all their songs, even those i didnt like originally. I liked they old sound better but i love go with them wherever they take us. Btw just yesterday another reacror said he is curious what it would be like if someone picked Jam as first song. More or less tested now, you didnt even think they are insane :D i am sure many ppl already said they write and produce all their songs, so yes, all kind of styles, sounds, and it is still them, although i cant descibe why :) . And ther m/v's are worth watching, they are kings of transitions. Good luck with other reactions, really looking forward to them

    Sub-units:
3racha= Chan (leader and oldest), Changbin and Han

thank you for these reactions. Welcome to Stayville. Never late to the Stray Kids party. Over the years Stray Kids were good but have evolved even better. They are always looking for ways to improve and try new things. 3 members are the main producing team and they are called 3Racha, which is also a rap unit. They write, compose, arrange and produce 99.9% of Stray Kids music. This includes the unique sounds, beat changes, melody switches and even mixed genres. They love to experiment with music and have perfected their own unique sounds. They don't follow the normal structure of music. Not saying they haven't created more of the normal structure songs, just saying they like being them self's and embrace being different. Stray Kids is like their own genre. 2 members are from Australia so they love incorporating the English words with Korean and having double meanings in their lyrics for the listeners to choose what they take way from the song. This was good to see where they started from and what they are now. But don't let this define Stray Kids out of these 3 songs. They are so much more. There are no set roles within the group, despite what you mainly see the role them in. All of the boys can rap and have different styles, all of them have amazing vocals and all can dance. They have a large discography. I would love for you to check out their pre debut song Hellevator, then Chk Chk Boom m/v (title track to latest mini album called Ate), Lalalala m/v, S-Class m/v, Manic m/v and Case 143 m/v. these are the main title tracks of their last 5 albums which have hit consecutively #1 on the billboard 100 charts and made broke a new record. Also Mountains is another b-side from this mini alum Ate like JJam is. They are the only group how puts out more m/v per album and their m/vs are soo good and satisfying to watch. Hope to catch you on the next stray kids reaction.

Their music is so unique, they are completely self producing. They write, compose, and produce their own songs. Their leader chan has a recording studio that they record in, it's very fun watching the behind the scenes videos that put out showing the process of in the recording studio and watching how technical they get with tweaking every tiny sound and emotion to how they want it
Their style of music works because it's exactly how *they* want. Changbin (the one with the more aggressive and gritty rap) said that jjam is his favourite song off the new album because it has their signature style and when they were producing it he threw in all the fun things that wouldn't fit into other songs

The deep voice guy is Felix. He is the 3rd youngest member of Stray Kids. His voice changed when he was about 13, and the contrast between his looks and his voice is one of the big initial draws for many fans. At the time of debut in 2018, the four youngest members were 17, the rest ranged from 18 to the oldest at 21. The two rappers you mentioned in each song are Han (with the flow) and Changbin (the more aggressive/gritty rapper), they along with the leader Chan, are the main writers and producers for the group. All three are prolific writers and have well over 120 copyright credits apiece (yes, I know they each actually have a lot more, but they add them so fast there is no way I can keep up--I'm not sure if Chan has over 150 or over 170 by now, so just accept that it's one heck of a lot). Two members are Australian with English as their first language, one other member is fluent, and several others have some experience in English. (At least two of them prefer to avoid English as they are not very comfortable with it). They have a huge and diverse catalog of songs released, and they are a lot of fun to listen to.
Jjam is not a title track. Their most recent title track, released only a few weeks ago, is Chk Chk Boom, which I personally like better than Jjam as its got a different sound.

  • @Nacari
    @Nacari 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

They write their own song (unless it's a collab) and compose their own music and beats, (I think they have help with their dance but I'm not 100% sure someone will correct me) and all of the members were chosen by the leader Bang Chan instead of by the company. You should watch one of the many guides to Stray Kids. They also have subunits. 3Racha which is the main production unit and rap unit with the leader Bangchan, Han and Changbin, Danceracha is Lee Know, Hyunjin and Felix, and Vocalracha which are I.N. and Seungmin. Each of these units have their own projects and they also have solo projects and just team up with whoever they want. They were on a survival show called Stray Kids where they competed with other groups to debut. It's a deep dive. They have well over 400 song credits between the 8 of them (mostly 3racha) They not only do Korean song but also Japanese and English and also cover many other songs. Off stage and outside of music videos they care nothing for their idol image and just have fun. Thier duality when they are performing vs when they aren't is like witchcraft. Hyunjin's duality is the craziest.

Lee Know sometimes has a hand in making their choreographies. He actually was the one who created the whole choreography for Hellevator (which was actually mention I think somewhere in their reality show) and throughout the years he's been leaving his marks in specific choreography's. Sometimes you can tell when he adds his own touch do to the choreography matching with his personality, even if they don't always mention it you can just tell because of his sense of humor sometimes. For example their song Thunderous, the movements when they spit into their hands like as if their spitting in the faces of their haters totally has a Lee Know feel to it. As well as when they make the shape of a mouth with their arms and make their arms look like it's a laughing mouth and the part where they bring their finger up and act like they're playing an imaginary xylophone with their throat (really don't know how to explain that part xD, but it has Lee Know written all over it). Back Door when the other members are creating the doors for the members to go through them banging the air with their fists as if they're banging on a door also has Lee Know written all over it. They don't always make their own choreography but I'd say for a kpop group, they have a lot of participation in doing a lot of things that other groups definitely do not get the chance to do. Just like they still have other people who help them create some beats, or help with the composition of a song as well or edit the sound track in some way, despite these people helping, they name them in the album for helping with the song but you're still gonna see Chan written in there no matter what because they're always making their songs. My husband tried to argue with me on that because he said that even if they were writing their songs before, they're likely not doing it now. It's not true with them because I have all of their albums up to when they released God's Menu and you will always see Chan, Changbin and Han's name written in their first before anyone else. So yeah just because they're famous now doesn't stop them from still doing everything themselves, they just get a little bit of help as well which isn't bad at all considering the fact that they do everything themselves and have the biggest influence with how they want their concepts to be or look like and what not. Sorry, I rambled on a bit there, but the point is, yes, they also have a hand in making their own choreographies sometimes as well and I feel like Minho doesn't get enough credit for it sometimes. All of this makes me sound so Lee Know biased. xD But Changbin is actually my ultimate bias. Minho and Hyunjin are after him. xD

@@akiralynn8466 Thanks for the info! Stays are so nice. I only discovered them a couple months ago and am still going thru all their content so there is a lot I don't know but I agree Lee Know is incredible and so are Hyunjin and Felix the way they add their own bit of flare to the dance moves. Honestly they are all incredible and nothing makes me happier than the energy Changbin brings to all the content. I have no bias because they are all so talented.

@@Nacari Oh, I definitely agree about all of them being very talented. The only reason I acknowledge I have a bias is because of the fact that they kill me too many times. xD Otherwise, I literally love and can show just about the same level of appreciation for all the members. xD After all, they all end up bias wrecking me at some points. Just, Changbin kills me more often than not with his rapping and loud voice and...yeah I'd be here all day if I had to list everything he uses to attack me like that. xD Often times I watch a new music video and I'm just going on about all the various ways I feel attacked by all of them. Plus they're all just soo freaking good at everything. We may call Han the ace but like, at this point, anyone in the group can be an ace because of the fact that they can all sing, rap, dance, produce, etc. It's insane at this point. I've been with them since pre-debut and I've never met such a talented group. I also haven't just been into kpop from the moment I met them. I've been into kpop since back from 2009 probably. xD If there's anything else you'd like to know, I'm here. :3 Happy to find things and share the info. When it comes to our boys the more recognition they get, the better I feel. So happy to have people as nice as you in the fandom who's able to appreciate all the members for what they all bring to the equation.

    About Stray Kids:
Leader Bang Chan was a trainee at JYP for several years. While waiting to debut, he formed a rap group called 3Racha with two other trainees, Changbin and Han. They wrote / produced their own music. JYP gave Bang Chan the highly unusual opportunity to help develop his own idol group (which they did through a reality show, but Bang Chan had WAY more say in picking the members than pretty much any other idol trainee in the industry), and when Stray Kids was formed 3Racha was absorbed into that group.
3Racha still performs on occasion. Several of their songs / videos are posted on TH-cam. They write / produce (and often compose/arrange) the vast majority of the music for Stray Kids. Over the years the other members have also gotten involved in writing and production.
    ----------------------------------
Stray Kids debuted in 2018. In early videos, you'll see 9 people performing, but one left in Oct 2019. Stray Kids have been an 8-member group ever since.
    ----------------------------------
DanceRacha - main dance unit (Hyunjin, Felix (deep-voiced guy), and Lee Know). But all 8 members dance very well.
    ----------------------------------
VocalRacha - main vocal unit (Seungmin and I.N). But again, all 8 members are great and they switch around on lead vocals, depending on the song.
    ----------------------------------
Main rappers - Changbin, Han, Hyunjin and Felix. Unlike many K-pop groups, all 8 members can and have rapped, depending on the song.
    ----------------------------------
    Languages:
Bang Chan (the leader) and Felix (deep-voiced guy) are both Korean-Australian. English is their first language. The other 6 members speak English with varying degrees of fluency.
All 8 members are fluent in Korean and can also sing / rap in Japanese. They often mix Korean/English and Japanese/English in their songs.
    ----------------------------------
Not all of their music is super hard all the time.
SKZ also write / sing beautiful ballads and have also written a few songs for K-drama, anime and video game soundtracks. They also collab with / produce for other idol groups and solo artists from KOR, JAP, CHIN, THAI and the U.S. They also wrote a song called SLASH for the official Deadpool and Wolverine soundtrack.
    ----------------------------------
    The fandom is called STAY.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
3Racha (Stray Kids' writing and production unit):
Bang Chan - leader of Stray Kids, leader of 3Racha, main songwriter, main producer, composer, arranger, vocalist, dancer, rapper on some songs
Changbin - main songwriter, main producer, composer, main rapper, vocalist, dancer
Han - main songwriter, main producer, composer, main rapper, vocalist, dancer
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    The other members:
Lee Know - main dancer, choreographer for some songs, vocalist, songwriter, rapper on some songs
Hyunjin - main dancer, main rapper, songwriter, producer, vocalist (also an artist & some of his paintings have been used as art for their songs)
Felix - main dancer, main rapper, songwriter, large vocal range when singing - bass, baritone and high falsetto
Seungmin - main vocalist, songwriter, dancer, rapper on some songs
I.N - main vocalist, songwriter, dancer, rapper on some songs

They actually don't have roles anymore, but if you want to divide then dance line is Lee Know, Hyunjin and Felix. Rap line are Changbin, Han, Hyunjin and Felix and vocal line are Lee Know, Chan, I.N, Seungmin and Han again.
Producing team is Chan, Changbin and Han. They're not the rapline, they're the producing team. Chan is more vocalist. However they were a pre-debut hiphop group, but that's not the same as their role in stray kids itself.

I think it’s really impressive that you picked up things, that I only noticed after watching the mv a few times! Your reactions feel really authentic, so I will absolutely keep watching! It would be really nice if you kept exploring stray kids and I‘d recommend S-Class and Item, since they have a really unique sound, as well. Keep it up:)

You know what's crazy? I discovered Stray Kids around february this year and have been listening to barely anything but their music since. I *never* realized God's menu ends with the first verse. I'm kinda mind blown rn.
