Im pretty sure Chan said this whole song was an experiment...and I will be honest and say at first i wasnt into it but the more i played it the more i grew to love it. Plenty of STAY love this song ❤
This is one of their most controversal songs. But the story of The Tortoise And The Hare usually goes that the Hare is going so fast and since he's so advance he just stops and takes a nap while the tortoise keeps going and ends up winning. So I believe what they are trying to portray in this song is that going at your pace you can be more successful than going fast and recklessly.
Just in case you did want to know a bit more about it... the whole song is basically skz trying to decide which pace is best for them, alternating between fast and slow beats and rap lines condemning those living fast and slow paced lives respectively to show their struggle in picking a side. There is a lot of wordplay in this song, such as the example of nolbu (the lazy and rich brother) and heungbu (the hardworking and kind brother). At one point they say 'I'll just play like nolbu', seemingly picking the slow route, but in the next line there is wordplay in the word 'heungbujaga' in which 'heungbuja' means 'an excited person' but also refers to the hardworking brother heungbu, showing that they still can't choose. Another bit of wordplay is in the first line in which they say 'go go go saeng', GO生 (go saeng, meaning go live) is the title of the album that this song is on but also the Korean 고생 (gosaeng) means a hardship or struggle, which they are trying to overcome but can't decide which pace would be best for that. Finally, the last lines said by changbin are referencing a korean children's nursery rhyme, 'round and round' and show the decision made by stray kids that because the earth is round, no matter how fast they go, they will end up in the same place anyway, so they may as well go slowly and enjoy the ride.
This song is more for Stray Kids themselves as they want to try all kinds of genre and different sounds. It's good that you listened to it and it's a whole different level of music. Not all can appreciate this though still, a big shout out to Stray Kids for trying something even though they know that not everyone will like it. That's the kind of musicians they are. And as can be heard on the track, they were all obviously having fun while doing it. 🔥🔥🔥
Totally, first time I heard it, I reeeaaally didn't like it. It just now starts growing on me. Same with Side Effects, actually. I didn't like it at all for a while and now it is one of my favourites. Some songs just take a while, I guess 😅
For me it's a deep lyrical & clever song rather than music itself. Bec singing "Fast Fast Fast" in Slowmo tone & "Slow Slow Slow" in Fast rap shows skills of rapping do not depend on speed alone. And another lines like ~ A snail losing it's shell is still a slug..why u being so rush and ~ going a trip by plane or train..the Destination is the same.. These are inspirational lyrics for Self Pace.. whether fast or slow is not important in life but being fun like playing (like 놀부 in korean story) is the key! This song is an absolute masterpiece.
I listened to their most famous songs and they weren't doing it for me, then this was 3rd or 4th song of Stray Kids that I listened to and I was sold. Because this kind of madness shows the potential and genius these guys have!!
I appreciate your reaction. For me, this is very poetic and experimental so I love it for that reason. It is nice to see a group really play with music like they do. But it definitely isn't a song I listen to on repeat either. To me this is the beauty of Stray Kids they offer something for everyone but yet aren't trying to be all things for all people. Its is okay to like some parts of their discography more than others. Thanks for reacting to Stray Kids!
One of my favorite songs, if you hear the words is such a fun play of words like the fast rap but saying “slow” or the slow rap talking about going fast. The switch of speeds and how witty the lyrics are. This song is amazing
Even when I was recommending this song I mentioned that it tends to divide the crowds so I don't think anyone's gonna get upset at you for not liking it. Experimental music is not for everyone. For me, it's one of my favorite tracks from SKZ *because* of how experimental and conceptual it is. Kpop can get a little samey sometimes so anyone willing to step out of what I'd consider 'safe music' gets a thumbs up from me just for that.
Appreciate the honesty, everyone's entitled to their own opinions. Much rather you say "wasn't for me" than "this song is trash", hope to see you keep reacting to SKZ!
Masterpiece! I actually find it mesmerizing to listen to, it scratches an itch and if it comes on shuffle - I can't not vibe along with it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion of course, respect.
Honestly this is probably their most experimental song to date, besides side effects maybe unless I can't remember something else, it's a hit or a miss for a lot of people For me personally it's a really really fun and playful song, i don't have many icks when it comes to music or anything art related, so this was just a fun little dive for me. Actually one of my favorite songs off the album despite how nonserious it is, but i don't think music needs to be serious 24/7
skz themselves have made it clear they know not every one of their songs will be for their entire audience and they dont expect it to be! theyd rather someone love their songs because they really like it, not just because its by them. esp not to mention this song is incredibly experimental and was created to be chaos. so this take is totally valid!
it's actually one of my favorite song, it's very addictive to me. i appreciate your honesty, i understand because the song is very experimental but let's respect each other's taste in music. i hope you two have a great day!! thank you for always reacting stray kids
THANK YOU!!! Personally, I think Han Jisung and this song are genius! I'm happy that you are reacting to more stray kids though 😊if you want something different from this you should react to Easy by Stray Kids
The concept of the tortoise and the hare was not just on the lyrics but was also on the music and the beat. Not sure if you guys remember but when kids are singing/rapping fast the beat is slow, and when the beat fast, the rapping is slow. That’s what makes it cool for me. Ingenuity and creativity. All good, man. I still like your channel! ❤
Yeah this is one of their more polarizing songs of either you do, or don't lol. I personally do enjoy it, it's fun and meant to be experimental, the sound of the vocals and instrumentals is very 90s to me, reminds me of like The Prodigy, Aphex Twin, etc etc. It's a very electronic ambient music genre centered. If it had an MV I'd expect it to very grimey, and would fit into the osts of like, Gone in 60 Seconds, Hackers, Johnny Mnemonic, Matrix, etc etc those style of films. But absolutely ok to not enjoy, it falls into narrow niche there, but something to experience once at least, see just how wide a range they can go music/experimental wise
I enjoy how honest this was. Personally Im open to just about anything (I don't like country) & I think this was a true masterpiece with how the rythym correlated to the story & how they were able to match such a fast changing tempo. These guys are extraordinary. Another one of their controversial songs was "side effects". They were the first in kpop to use this genre called psychedelic trance. I really enjoyed the performance version of this song especially. (Side note: this is when their former member Woojon was still part of the group) Also I would say that you guys have probably been recommend a lot of guides so far, specifically one by tea no suga but I would have to say to avoid that one especially knowing how y'all hate spoilers & how biased it may seem to non stays. (Stays are the fandom) I would recommend this one that's spoiler free but it's mainly informational/factual based & also goes into their personalities pretty well (it's also updated to recent 2022) th-cam.com/video/_mR2zOcL_vo/w-d-xo.html
The change of pace was the amazing part of it. The rhythm is the same but their use of textures, pacing and flow is super incredibly dynamic and really conceptual. It's definitely not typical music and definitely not for people who want something just pleasant. But it's an amazing exploration of musical technique.
Expect the unexpected when it comes to skz. This is such a weird song. It'll be insane to like the song at once. Lol. Skz love doing experiment with their sound & I'm there for it.
It's ok to not like it. Personally, I LOVE this one, but it was very experimental and it often seems to be a love/hate song. Part of what I loved was how the music and storytelling reflect the concept so well. I agree that it isn't a background noise song - which is part of why I love it. But it isn't for everyone. Thank you for reacting to Stray Kids - one of the things I appreciate about them is that they have taken some risks in their music. I hope you do more.
i've been a stray kids fan for 3 years but i never really got into it as well. haha. and it's ok. thanks for the honest reactions. that's why i followed this channel, because you guys seem like honest reactors. =)
I’ve been waiting for this!!! Wooo!!🙌 I appreciate the honesty!! For me personally, I enjoy your reaction because I can see the honesty and that you guys aren’t sugarcoating anything if you don’t like something and giving your true opinions without disrespect. It’s okay if you don’t like a song, we STAYs understand that not everyone is going to like every single Stray Kids song, but the good thing about skz is that they love and are known to experiment with different genres and with their sounds, so there’s always bound to be something you guys will like, but on the other side there might be things that you might not like, which is totally okay!! This song was meant to be experimental and for me personally, I love this song and can play it on repeat because I honestly love shit like that lol, but I understand that for some, that might not be the case . Us STAYs rather have the honest opinion but obviously with respect, which you guys did, and I appreciate that a ton! I hope you two will react to more stray kids because I always look forward to it and so you guys can see their other stuff cause they have so much that I believe you will like! I really apreciate your opinion, this song is not for all tastes. Is experimental and no everyone loves it, but I apreciate you give your honest opinion with respect to their work.
Yes, I agree! The song does not really work as background noise. It’s really hard to keep a constant head bop. But strangely, I enjoy it lol. It’s a fun experimental sound that’s interesting to listen to. Thanks for the reaction! It was enjoyable. (Oh also, I feel that _The Tortoise And The Hare_ and _Side Effects_ are two of the more well known songs that people either like or dislike)
Yeah this is a cool song and a lot of Stays including me really like it, but it’s obviously not everyone’s taste because it’s pretty wild. It is however one of the most (if not the most) loudly hated songs from anti-fans, who often use it to try and discredit them🫠 They’re also very aware that people don’t like this song, but are very “we’re gonna do our own thing” about it. That’s honestly how they are about all of their music, because anti fans trash the hell out of their music calling it “noisy” because they are pretty non traditional and out of the box creative. I really respect that they stick to their own artistic expression even if people don’t like it. They even made an album after receiving a lot of hate about making “noise music” called noeasy which is a play on noisy, and the title track/lead single is called “thunderous” in english, but translates better to noise makers in korean. Another song off that album called “cheese” is a cheeky song about the criticm they receive, and again incredibly playful sometimes talking nonsense or being repetitive as a way to say “you hate this about our music, here’s more. Criticise us and say cheese📸”. Even if I didn’t like any of their songs, I’d have to respect the way they do their own thing and have not tried catering at all to make their music more well liked by the general public. Very creative kids so I’m always intrigued by what they could come up with next. Looking forward to your next reaction, thanks for giving your honest opinion and trying to understand the concept even if it wasn’t your thing.
this was an experimental song... it's particular, I wouldn't have suggested it for this reason.. don't stop at this song as long as you could miss all the others that are beautiful.. rather listen to Freeze and Domino lyrics version
It's not for everyone. It's a very different song. I'd call it maybe more of a cypher...? Anyway, I'd rather have an honest opinion from you guys than a lie. Thanks for reacting to it.
Also just to add to the other comments but I heard from somewhere that they were drunk when making this song 😂 I could be wrong but I thought that would be funny if not
I’m not sure if this is true but according to lots of people on Tiktok they wrote this song in like half an hour while being drunk 😂😂 I actually like the song but I can understand why some people don’t 😂🙃
This is actually my first time hearing this song and I also didn't really like it. I'm sure they were going for something experimental, especially with the whole tortoise and the hare thing, but I just didn't really enjoy the alternating fast and slow flow switches. Usually I like their sound but sometimes I just have to pass. Honestly the whole beat change/flow switch trend in kpop is very hit or miss for me. 😆
A concept on paper can seem like a good idea but the execution just sucks. This song is a perfect example of good concept and bad execution. There’s something missing for me when it comes to this group.
since you’re in a skz comment section while not a fan of them (you seem to be army?), I’ll assume you’re curious. Respect if you’ve dived into a lot of their music and don’t like it but a ton of people come to the all they make is noise music conclusion after hearing a couple of title tracks and extremely hated on songs that get spread under social media hate trains. It’s kind of like people listening to butter, ptd, boy with luv, and dynamite and thinking that’s a good representative of bts’ entire discography and we both know thats not true. The noise music agenda has been spread so much by antis that even bystanders hate them while only having heard a few title tracks, which is something I know has happened to bts/other groups. Just wanted to let you know if you’ve only heard their most popular songs and think that’s a good idea of their entire discography that you might be careful about that mindset. However if you have been deeper and know songs like levanter or broken compass or grow up among a ton of others and still don’t care for it, that’s cool. People mass disliking them over a few songs just gets super frustrating as the most popular hate they get is over songs that are a fraction of their discography. Sorry if this is annoying, but I’m sure you understand what it’s like for a group to be misrepresented by their most popular music and trying to clear up the misconceptions
@@lorenlane1319 I recently started listening to BTS(since you brought up army) and those songs you mentioned I like. BTS are Grammy nominated because of these songs. Regardless of how anyone feels about those songs, BTS have the resume that the gen after them look up to. I think Stray Kids are hard-working and have the potential to be great but right now their music isn’t for me. Do people shit on them, absolutely, but then there’s valid criticism about them. The reason BTS is so popular is because they have a decade of great music across different genres. I’m a believer you can like more than one group but sometimes one group speaks to you and grabs your attention more than any other group will.
@@Amberelyse I respect liking what you like and agree that things catch your eye more than others. I’m a multi stan myself and also like those songs I brought up! I just know how frustrated a lot of army have been when non fans use those songs to discredit BTS or pigeonhole the entire discography based on those songs. I am one of those frustrated people, which is why I mention the parallels to others that would understand. I understand why the songs I listed were popular, the same way I understand why songs like Gods menu are popular. They wouldn’t be popular if people didn’t like them and if they were bad/unimpressive songs:). Obviously all groups have reasons to be critiqued and can’t please everyone and also that bts have done a lot of awesome things in their careers. There’s just an over saturation of people that go around assuming every stray kids song sounds like “gods menu” and “thunderous” when it’s incredibly untrue. They are clearly incredibly creative which is why its so interesting people assume they aren’t all over the place in genre. You don’t have to like their music at all, that’s fine, but most people who comment about their music in a negative light are under a very silly impression. It’s no one’s fault but antis who have pigeonholed them so bad that the majority of non fans have been led to believe a bad misconception😭 Also Im not making this comment in a hating light at all, just hoping to inform better because I’ll assume (maybe un rightfully who knows) that by commenting in the first place, you might be one of those people who have been mislead by the songs of theirs that have blown up (not that they’re bad songs at all, they wouldn’t be so popular if they were. They just aren’t what most of their discography sounds like which everyone seems to think). It’s fair to only know title tracks, getting into anyones disocgraohy is time consuming ahaha. Just always try to remind people to always have an open mind, especially kpop fans who have probably been through this with their own groups or when getting into kpop in general. Hope you’re having a wonderful rest of your day/night wherever you’re from and that you won’t misunderstand my heart!
the execution wasn’t bad. the concept was the tortoise and the hare and they presented that through the fast and slow paces of the song. whether you liked the song or not is based off your personal opinion, of course. but they definitely executed exactly what they wanted to.
There was nothing wrong with the execution. They executed the concept just fine. It's experimental and was made to not fit a standard kpop song structure. Not everyone is gonna get it or like it and that's fine. But it definitely was not poorly executed.
Im pretty sure Chan said this whole song was an experiment...and I will be honest and say at first i wasnt into it but the more i played it the more i grew to love it. Plenty of STAY love this song ❤

It's like rap in jazz form
I’d also recommend checking out their song maze of memories specifically the ot8 version as it’s kind of a cypher with all 8 members on it!
this song is a pure fire 🔥
This song is for intellectuals only 😎 there’s genius in it but I understand it’s not catchy or crowd pleasing
This really encapsulates why I fucking love Stray Kids and why Im so hyped over what next song they’re gonna do. They’re very versatile.
yeah this was an experimental song but for me is brilliant
The Hare wins? New one on me....never heard of that.
this was an experimental song... it's particular, I wouldn't have suggested it for this reason.. don't stop at this song as long as you could miss all the others that are beautiful.. rather listen to Freeze and Domino lyrics version
pls react to EASY by Stray Kids
Please react to Maze of memories by Stray Kids:)
It's not for everyone. It's a very different song. I'd call it maybe more of a cypher...? Anyway, I'd rather have an honest opinion from you guys than a lie. Thanks for reacting to it.
React to maze of memories + easy by stray kids
Still waiting for Han : I GOT IT reaction 🤝🏻
You don't have to like everything. But this is one of me favorite songs. But it's not for everyone.
1:44 Finnish people listenin:😨😨
Also just to add to the other comments but I heard from somewhere that they were drunk when making this song 😂 I could be wrong but I thought that would be funny if not
thank you for the reaction
Hahaha this song is an acquired taste (you need to listen to it about 20 times to acquire the taste)but the honest reaction was great.
I’m not sure if this is true but according to lots of people on Tiktok they wrote this song in like half an hour while being drunk 😂😂 I actually like the song but I can understand why some people don’t 😂🙃
please check out more 3racha songs zone, matryoshka and more
This is actually my first time hearing this song and I also didn't really like it.
It’s okay! I’m glad you gave it a listen😁
@@leen.148 I'm always willing to listen! Especially since I know they have great songs 💜
@@mochiibear3 I’m happy you enjoy their music and always willing to listen, I’m also the same!:))😁💜

I, for one, love this song! But then again, there’s yet a SKZ song i disliked.
Who is stray kids?
ты тоже не нравишься этому треку.
🤣
pure noise 🙄
