Huleeo I know I, as a good freudian and in that human father context, should agree with this sentiment. But is it just me or is it not that men especially live thier lives for thier fathers? thier job, thier desires 2 have the prettier girlfriend than his brothers etc etc is all for the father? if the father dies, would this desire for parental love, acceptance and validation not simply flow to the figure of the mother? And once she dies what superego is left to drive us? I know zizek is implying God in the "father figure" since i think he starts to talking about this within the context of atheism, but still, what like to hear what people have to say about the mother? Is there an existential "mother figure" waiting to replace the hypothetical replacement of God "father figure"?
It is so strange that, just as there were Left and Right Hegelians, I think that Zizek has a fundamentally potential Right interpretation. This particular video does not perhaps express this vision, but I think it is nonetheless available.
