As someone who has never really been able to get compressors to work that way I need them to, I found tweaking the peak and headroom knobs simultaneously worked great at taming the spikes in a very intuitive way. Only other compressor I've found I can work quickly with is the one in Izotope's Nectar, so I'd love to pick this up at some point.
Honestly this compressor is awesome and does wonderful things….the hysteresis control is by far the best feature if you really use your ears and tune it in….,get the correlation to be dead center and in mid/side mode you’ll be doing that between the stereo side and the mid side outputs….the timing for the mid should be between the green and the peaks where as most of the stereo should be between the peaks and the fast….try that out.
Nice!!! I appreciate the right to the point information. Is it good or not so I know if its worth my money. I've been wanting to try this I believe it is an emulation of the GML 8900. Thank you for the information I can't wait to try it.
Now though I really want to buy it. I used to subscribe but went on the perpetual license route. However, they always have a good deal & sale going on. And they will put it on discount for 48 hours or a certain time limit. Another cool thing is monthly they will give me a 50 & 25 dollar voucher code I can use on the sale item. I've been wanting this and the sat 2 rate.
This should not be called a Mastering Compressor. You'll wind up using it on EVERYTHING, and it isn't too bad on the cpu. Putting the timing on slower and then turning the Release Hysteresis way up... oh my god! The best at generating punch. Difficult to overdo because even though you can get very exaggerated results, they are still natural sounding. I know of nothing else that can accomplish things like this with such a high level of transparency. VERY special, I look forward to gaining more experience with it.
Yeah...this is main Comp on mastering now.....along with the Weiss DK3 those 2 blow all the others away on Masterbus........ the Amek...is going to sound Richer and More Saturated but the Softube Weiss MK3 is going to sound more Punchy and a ltttle more Commercial sounding...really tough Choice but I beleive this and the MK3 is the best your gona do ITB as far as Mastering..... Special Shout out to Klanghem DC8 though its only $25 on full open advanced mode...you have so many mastering optiions on that one as well
Obviously the high price and name gives this plugin a high value but my strategy is sit back see how it goes if it’s really this good the price will stick but at some point the price will drop and then you can dip your toe in and enjoy - personally after I’ve wrote a track I’m exhausted and my ears are tired and I’ve lost my perspective so I just bang it through ozone for a quick finish then I sleep 🛌 for a week. This thing looks good but complex
No one in their right mind is going to buy any Plugin Alliance plug-in for $399. Buy yourself a nice plane ticket or something. And wait for their deals. That's their business model. Wait for the deals.
LOL I love how your saturation level rises as the Rants build up. I decided to wait for the $149 to come down a bit. It has .. plus (minus) a nice loyalty voucher ... Result !! I won't mention numbers ... too vulgar 😉 Let's just say .. Peanuts !! 🥳
@@StudioLife101 Defo a RTFM job, this one though. I'm just about to share your vid on FaceAche. Title : "So You Think You Know How to Fly A Compressor ??" 😜 Thankfully, the manual is pretty good AND then there's yer Michael White innit.
Update....this sort of makes a final master sound "Smeared" You want your mix to sound Glued, but open and breathing not "Smeard" So....I have to retract my Statement from earlier....I still think the best stand alone...mastering Comp is MK3 by Weiss Audio (Softube) 2nd Place for me would still go to KlanghelmDC8, Solid State Logic Stereo V6 Bus Comp, and UAD API2500 WITH NEBULA "LUNCHPAL RUNTHROUG PLUGIN" Those 4 are "Work Horses" Best Free Mastering Comps Analog Obsession Comper and Buster SE HANDS DOWN!
I've found the opposite...it's so easy to get it sounding tight and controlled with this. I wouldn't use it on the masterbus of a mix though...only in mastering is where it shines. The Weiss is good too...as are the others...but mostly bus comps. 👍
@@StudioLife101 Mabye because Im using on a a Mix thats already been mixed down with Nebula/ and ran through my Analog Gear? Maybe...but...I just went back to using the Compresor on whichever Acustica Audio Strip I use on final master after mixing with Nebula and running the mix through my Gear Which is usually Sand3 (SSL) Amethyst 4 (AMEK 9098) Or PINK4 (API 2500 COMP/ API PRE AND API 550 EQS ) All three of these are Live analog sampled just like Nebula...so on final master your getting that "Hi End Polish" over the whole final mix
Thanks!
Huge thanks 🙏

Would you review the oven by plugin alliance in the near future? I'd like to know your thoughts on if it is shit 😅😂 please & thank you.
Getting in early so I don't miss it! 3 more sleeps!
It's Plugin Alliance, it will be on sale for $29 to $39 ish at some point...
it's free for me
$29.99 flash sale right now
It’s finally on sale. I’m about to buy it but wanted to do some research first
Yeah, bought it today for $29 😂

Gentlemen. Says Mastering compressor. But would it be useful on individual tracks? Drums. Vocals Bass. Guitars. Etc ??
It would work...but overly complicated and maybe not enough character..?
Damn....bought. It's on sale at Plugin Boutique right now.
Have you replaced the Amek with the Bx_Glue in your mastering chain ;)?
No...different things...I use a real hardware vca comp if I need glue... The AMEK is all about adding weight 👍
Ah! Nice input 👍
Yeah but what about OZONE mastering plugin ? is it shit ? :D
Definetly not shit
We should probably review it….👍
Definitely not shit. The Ozone EQ is one of my favorite EQs period due to having the most effective high/lowpass filters I've ever used.
Not shit
I really digg your is it shit or not cuz honestly anyone who uses plugins we all know we're addicted to plugins
You said it has lots of presets--where are they? I can’t find them at all.
Weird....in the preset bar at the top in Logic...🤷♂️
I've found that certain DAWs don't display the 'presets' option for Plugin Alliance plugins.
@@Mawga204 interesting....sometimes they come in a separate file....
Who needs presets? 😁
não entendo porque esse canal tem só 2 mil inscritos... bom demais!

TMT forever! 😂 Thx for your reviews
someone was dozing off over LUT mix parameter 😅
It's the rant.....raging.....😂 👍
It’s very good.
I doubt it can beat my shadow hills compressor but I will put it to the challenge. Thanks guys!
Different beasts I reckon….I’d try both together…small amounts of gain reduction. You should get both vibe/character and clean controlled mixes. 👍
@@StudioLife101 Great tip!
I 100% wanted to hate this plugin when it came out. it was touted to use AI and everything I used it and bought it that same hour. lol
