I want to thank you so much for teaching this incredible song! I can play it so well now and when I played it at guitar center I was receiving complements left and right!
Fantastic Mike. I have learnt "Alone Again Naturally" and now this. I love your teaching style, it helps to pause and practice on my own if I get a bit stuck, but overall your pace is steady and your explanation of chord spelling and inversions is clear and easy to understand. I have for years tried to play the piano, but now with your tuition I am finally playing songs I like, not the nonsense obtained from training books etc. Thank you so much for taking to time to teach us.
these three videos have made learning this song so much easier and really enjoyable thank you very much, now time to take it to the practice room with the rest of the band.
Thanks you so much dude. I never thought I would of been able to learn this song and I can't thank you enough for creating such a great tutorial. By far the best and least frustrating tutorial I have come across in learning the piano. I wish I could pay you.....
Mike- My name is Mike too, my Mom always told me, all Michaels are talented and good boys(sometimes), Haha. I just want to say, THANK YOU, SO MUCH!..I went hru all 4 pages, figured out exactly what you meant, about this INCREDIBLE GENIUS of Richard Wright. I condensed your knowledge and excellent teaching skills onto ONE SHEET of paper! YOU ARE AN INCREDIBLE TEACHER AND PLAYER. You do justice, to one of the greatest piano pieces in all of popular music-rock and roll. Thank You. Mike
I either envy the people who say they will add their voice to this or feel scared to be near them while they are belting it out! The way this song is sung you either nail or completely fail! I myself sing in a rock band for fun and I must have some skill to even make good musicians waste their time with me, but that level of skill is beyond me! Attempting to sing it makes me sound like a tortured wild animal of some sort!!! I am pleased with just playing it on the piano!! 😂😂😂
Great vid. I absolutely love the song, and well I've been trying to learn it for ages, but now with your help I am kinda getting somewhere. Thanks very much for this!
Your tutorials are magnificent Mike. I am just now learning this incredible tune and I am almost thru part 2. Thank you for taking out your time to do these. You are definitely one of the best on youtube as far as teaching! Cheers!
Awesome Mike! Can't wait to be able to play this as fluidly as you... and then even sing over the top! :) One of my favourite Floyd tracks. Thanks for the tutorial.
I was looking to learn this tune. I had been for years but I've just got my ear and playing ability up to the task. You made it fun and easy to learn. Im playing this at my next gig and surprise my mates! Thanks Mike! :) from Mike :)
Thanks mike!! Now I have learned this fantastic song :) hey and by the way, writing out which chord you're using is super helpful, and it helps me learn more about chords along the way :) thanks again!
Please continue this tutorial into the Clare Torry vocals and through to the end where it comes back to the intro but with a variation. Indebted to you for this tutorial :)
Hey mike , Thanks so much for teaching me this song. I am a novice piano player at best. Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time. Very nice job teaching and explaining to me how a major chord becomes a major seventh. Im still trying to grasp music theory as a whole with Inversions and circle of fiths so much to learn,I should probly get back into just learning theory and application but i love pink floyd too much to not play this one .Thanks again

Thank You !! Wow a GREAT song ! The great gig in the sky!!!
just watched part one-part 2-im looking for one chord. Following the FMaj7. I could work out half of the rest. But well done-you explain it well and obviously love it just like all of us
I learned the song using all of your 3 tutorials and your attitude is so nice to watch and I was happy to learn it from you. And btw you seemed to play the last couple of chords at a 2 quarters instead of 4 like the others without mentioning the change and it got me a bit confused
Thanks again Mike- so useful.. now working my way through your back catalogue.. would you ever consider covering "the long and winding road"? always wanted to play that song... anyway cheers again awesome
Finally finished it, you're a great teacher and a fine person. But I loved the cat so much that we decided to get us one in the new year. Merry Xmas by the way!
Thanks for a great tutorial, helped me get this down in about 30 minutes! My only beef: the 3 chord transition that takes you back into the Dm chord when the vocal stops and starts again toward the end. (Vocal switches from loud OH, to a soft ooo in the minor key). I did get it figured it out (I don't know chord names) but you may want to add that sometime. FYI, Bass notes are: D, C#, F# and then back to the Dm chord... and the whole sequence repeats to the end/fade.
Thank-you sooo much this is really helpful, I can't believe I can pretty much play this now! I'm not a piano player but I'm trying to learn the piano part so I can do a guitar cover over it. I've used your video a lot plus some sheet music I downloaded, but that was horribly inaccurate. I think there might be a couple of inaccuracies in your sheet music too though as I hear a difference when I listen to the original track. 5:51 I think the F plays twice at the start of the run up. The first note is a very quiet shadow note, but important to keep the cadence of the piece, it's impossible to play in time without it. 7:31 doesn't go back up to the F, just goes straight down. Bb,F,D,Bb,F,D,B. Also there is a really nice rhythm to this run up & down, but it took me a while to master. Honestly I no way could have got this far without your 3 videos though as my sight reading is very slow.
Mike you are a fantastic piano teacher - love your energy and enthusiasm too. I have to say the noisy action on your keyboard is a bit annoying though! Minor quibble, still a big thumbs up from me - there should be more people sharing their knowledge like this.
Get the cat to play - anywho, good stuff, I can play all the bass and guitar parts but wanted to learn the piano parts, I actually came to your channel for I'm not in Love by 10 cc. In my band we learn each others parts so we can swap over for tunes if we want. I know a lassie who can sing it perfectly, so no need to learn that! Thank so much for doing this - you have a new subbie. I usually play the slide guitar part or the drums - my main job.
i am learning the grate gig ... from you if i can play it half as good as you can i will send you a vid of me playing it wen you have time take a look at my attempts at playing imagine by john Lennon and tell me what you think and a big thank you for taking the time to teach others cus thats what music is all about.
Mike, congratulations! Awkwardly, I ask that if possible you put the tutorial pink floyd mudmen, nobody home and Vangelis, memories of green. Sorry for the daring, but you are an excellent teacher. Hugs fraternal Brazil.
Hello Mike. The song goes on with the two chords repeating whilst the singer does her first solo then there are three exit chords to bring the song back to B minor for the second (softer) vocal solo. Do you know what those three exit chords are? Thanks.
Great Job Mike! Even 8 years later this Video is inspiring people to play this wonderfull song! Hope you read this
Seriously wished there was a part 4 to this. Thank you so much for your videos. You're an awesome teacher!

There's a part in the tune where it goes from the Gm7 - C9 to the Bm it goes from C9 to Bbminor then F#7 then Bminor!
Hi ! I´m braziliam and ask you a great favor : please ,made a tutorial of following musics : Breathe, Stay, Us & them ? So many thanks till now !
Hello Mike. The song goes on with the two chords repeating whilst the singer does her first solo then there are three exit chords to bring the song back to B minor for the second (softer) vocal solo. Do you know what those three exit chords are? Thanks.
Could you also show us how to play the song Time? The one right before this?
winding rd.............thats a great tune, thanks for the idea.

Fantastic explanation! I wonder that your little cat wishes to play left hand!!!!!!rsrsrsrsrsr / Carlos /BRAZIL
