Bought a 2018 player series, HSS, I was a little bummed to find out the bucker is an alnico 2 but whatever, I’ll change it, after I rolled the edges it feels like what the charge another 500-700 for so definitely worth the 850 New, but if you go HSS just remember the humbucker is an alnico 2 and the singles are 5, you will notice the difference, but the bottom tone being wired to the bridge pickup along with the other stuff is still worth it especially if you are comfortable working on your guitar or intend to modify it
On another video ive spoke about what i think of the HSS one haha. Not a fan of that humbucker at all. I think the widerange humbuckers fender do on the Teles and stuff sound far nicer.
I got this series, and I have a question. What upgrades do you recommend on it that wont kill the purse? Like new tuners, bone nut, new bridge? Etc.. :)
Im a big fan of the fender thumb wheel locking tuners at around £60-70 but they definitely aren’t super important. A custom cut bone nut installed by a decent guitar tech would cost around £60. Ive recently bought a great upgrade for mine in the form of highwood strat saddles at a cost of £40 new and they are amazing! Other then that the best upgrade for one of these given they are generally very good guitars is a proper full set up. Fret level, crown, polish etc.
I have two classic series (both 70's reissues) Mexican made strats now discontinued and they are great guitars. I also have a Mexican Classic Player Baja Tele which is also fantastic for the money. Unfortunately the Classic Player series has also now been discontinued. Both the Classic Series and Classic player series I consider better guitars than the Player series.
I had a Baja and loved it. You could get almost greeny les paul tones aswell as traditional tele stuff. will have another at some point for sure. I also have a Classic Player Strat from 2010 and although i prefer that guitar. I wouldnt call it better then these, but definitely on a par.
I guess the real point is though, the player series is for sure a better guitar then the one it directly replaced. Would i take a Vintera 60s Strat over my Classic player? Definitely not.
@@Edward1312 yeh man thats probably what helped classic vibe get such a good reputation all those years ago. Can you believe the classic vibe range is now 13 years old!?
@@Paul-D Ive had 6 CVs in total over the years. 3 Strats and 3 Tele's. The best one was a Blonde telecaster made within the first 6 months of production and I have to say the early ones were definitely the best. In the early days they were building up the brand and the guitars were probably lost leaders and they werent making much money out of them because of that. I would advise anyone looking to buy one to look for the secondhand ones made between 2007-12.
Not sure i like the two point bridge (I don't use trem bars), but the pickups are a very welcome addition! With the current high prices Fender are charging for mexican guitars there's just no excuse for ceramic pickups any more!
Hey dude! Yeh i agree, they arent cheap and it definitely isnt to say there isnt "better value" guitars available today. Proved that with the Aria videos and cutlass really. But the player series is a much nicer guitar then the one it replaced all round. With the Fender name and nice touches, and the Fender resale, its probably still worth it.
@@Paul-D that is a nice obsession to have! And great playing, by the way 👍 I'm thinking about a Fender Vintera '50s Strat, which is a MIM too, have you ever tried it?
@@robertogerosa8005 i have indeed, great guitars honestly - im not so keen on the pau ferro alot of mim fenders have no so going the 50s with the maple neck is a win i think
i have a 94 mim standard, it's about to have a birthday, all original. I also have a 23 player strat. They are both very good, but different.
Definitely different.

very helpful review. I'm looking at picking up this guitar in same color
They are great tbf. Very very little difference between these and a standard usa
Strip my mind!
The Player series are nice guitars definitely better than the old Mexican standard series and also better than Squire CV or Vintage modified IMHO.

If you want best tuning stability save and buy a Vega trem it's expensive, but if you planning to use this guitar lifetime, it's worth it

What Amp geat used here?
On this vid it was the neural dsp soldano.
In general its either the boss katana head and my 212 or if filming late the neural soldano plugin 😁
