Ambition as a domain must be one of the sweetest deals honestly, so mamy sentient beings to gain faith from. Hell, even your enemies empower you.
True!
True, but it’s also a dangerous game to play.
The Dead Three can attest what happens when ambition outpaces ability.
Like pride, it’s an insidious killer that will coil around you, blind you and bring you down.
Gale becoming a god only ensures his flaws as a character remain, perhaps with consequences far worse than what that sphere could ever be capable of.
It also means that by sharing in his power and domain, he is an enabler of those with that power, tying him by both his gifts and his philosophy into every great or terrible thing they might do.
@@rustkarl We'll have to wait and see what's considered canon in the future

@@danortiz Not inside that god's domain, he ain't.
@@leyrua ofc
It's funny, it looks like Gale is screwing Rephael over but in fact he is living up to his domain as the God of Ambition. He is basically challenging and testing Raphael's ambition, he is seeing if Raphael will come and challenge a god in their realm knowing that is where they are most powerful and seeing if he does, he is all so seeing if he can back up his ambition and get the crown. Any way it goes it is kind of a win for Gale, Raphael never acts, and Gale doesn't have to deal with him, Raphael act and fail mean Gale ends him removing a complication, Raphael acts and gets the crown but in turn because he fulfilled his ambition it just strengthens Gale even more. The fun part is I be Raphael knows this and knows no matter what he does Gale wins in the end lol.
Interesting analysis of the situation
This does sound like the big-brain, 4D chess move that Gale would pull tbh, especially with that +5 int from ascending to godhood
Let's be real though, he probably won't be getting the crown back
@@pipwolverine XD
@@cwill6491 I suppose it depends, on how much time he's willing to wait for it

That would make him boil
That would be the funniest thing ever lol
That's what I thought he was going to do tbh.
There are all sorts of ways to screw over Raphael. That one can wait until after he's managed to get to it within Gale's domain.
Did gael not alright use the power up to become a god, y is Raphael still obsessed abt it
Raphael tried to hold his tears. 1st, you mock him with Harleep. Then, Gale dare him to come and take the crown at the Realm. It looks like, Raphael's waiting over 1000 years and everything going back same as beginning instead of Mephistopheles's vaults.

"What drives you, we have yet to discover" - It would be funny AF if we had some options there.
True, like: food
Curiosity.
Not only does that motivate 99% of all players out there, it would also thematically go very well with ambition.
Just thought of an interesting domain suggestion for Tav here: Temperance, as a balancing act, to maybe hold back TOO ambitious things, and to perhaps temper Gale here and there eventually, being the ’soothing hand on shoulder’ and ’calming whisper to his ear’, and all that.
Would an interesting divine-level Ying-Yang dynamic.
I've read someone else mentioning Temperance as well, interesting
I love that idea
Oh, that's brilliant! Especially because that would be something that (while an outsider might assume would be antagonistic towards each other) would actually COMPLIMENT one another's domains. Gale knows all too well the folly of reckless ambition, so the yin and yang of Temperance would make followers of his domain more effective at achieving their goals without it being a pyrrhic victory.
Temperance makes even more sense if you are playing a Dark Urge redemption story. Both of you had an arc of achieving your ambitions despite an internal obstacle attempting to thwart you.
Yours were threatened by your self-destructive impulses (which you learned to contain).
Gale's ambitions were nearly ruined by a bomb in his chest (a more literal form of self-destruction).
I mean, I feel like it depends on how Tav approached the whole Crown business. My Tav actively encouraged Gale to seek the Crown a la Lady Macbeth, so I don’t think Temperance would fit him.
My personal headcanon for my Tav’s domain is “Talent” as the counterpoint to “Ambition”. Gale, a former wizard, is all about self-improvement, looking to become more than what you are, gaining power from knowledge, artifacts, schemes. My Tav, a Sorcerer, would be all about recognition of one’s innate abilities, the unlocking, nurturing, and growth of power that was always there to begin with.
Its interesting how Mystra would not let Gale become divinity when they were mingling with each other, but Gale lets you become one without a second thought. Although his ego might have grown a little, at his heart he is still the same
Sparing you what he went through
@@Saretz its also within the purview of his new domain, spurring on others ambitions. He saw the ambition to become a god and gave you the starting point, now its up to Tav to decide their domain and what kind of god they'd like to become.

Ahaha! Omg, yes he can. The contract says he will give the crown but not where and how. And Gale has simply stipulated the where; Elysium. An impossibility for a Devil like Raphael to tresspass. Ahahah! Great thinking. And as long as Raphael holds ambition, Gale will know where and how he is pursuing it.

Even better, it makes Gale stronger. If Raphael has enough ambition to even make it there in the first place, let alone fight Gale for the crown, he'd grow way too powerful for Raphael to deal with.
Gale surely has ambition , but not selfishness. You two could share the same domain with two different sides of ambition. One for ambition with logic other ambition with passion.

Gale is a badass but he is so woefully overambitious to think he can just invite you into Godhood, which has one major component to it that is far beyond him: Balance. A balance which he's intentionally shifting, to Ao's possible ire.
I do like Godhood Gale, though. I just wish it wasn't so clear that his own domain would be his most likely undoing.
I did not upload the dialogue before this, during the party, but he did mention it would take a millenium or so for him to convince Ao xD

For all those in the comments section lettering how Gail is going to upset the balance and how you could possibly make the protagonist a deity...... Don't bet on it. The balance has been disrupted in faerun so many times it might as well be a seesaw. And Ao is powerful....but not ALL powerful.. or even invincible. This was actually sort of covered way back when when D&D came out with the Birthright setting..... And you basically had big bad greater God of darkness going up against six intermediate to minor deities. There were protracted wars both cold and hot and it all came to the head when they all manifested at the top of a mountain and blew it all to hell spreading god essence all over the place. Mutually assured destruction. That option is always on the table, Ao knows it.... And he knows if he throws his weight around too much trying to keep a lid on things he could very well cause the entire mess to explode and take him with it. And Ao has hinted that he himself is actually nearly a servant in the employee of much greater beings.... So there's that to deal with as well. I would love for there to be a DLC or future version of the game where there is an option to help Gale develop his portfolio further and spread his religion.... It would make for one hell of an interesting plot line.... Especially since a lot of what he's doing is treading into cyrics territory which I believe has already been hinted is going to be a potential sequel. So who knows?

Its a bit weird how gale can apparently grant godhood, something which apparently only Ao can do. Maybe he's doing what nergal/withers did and just giving up part of his portfolio?
Maybe! I can't really say how it works, but I'm sure someone will enlighten us :p
The lore is really vague for the most part, at least on how the plethora of gods we have right now came to be. I think I read somewhere once that at some point shortly after the Days of Thunder Ao was handing out godhood to anyone who wanted it because they didn't want to manage the entirety of Faerûn themselves. Needless to say, they could do it (see the Times of Troubles) but would rather leave such mundane duties to someone lower than an Overgod.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Ao#Powers
Theoretically, Ao could do anything he wanted.[2] He was often credited as being the creator of the cosmos,[6] and once separated Abeir-Toril into their specific worlds.[8] He existed beyond concepts such as alignment[6] and divine rank,[2] and was more powerful than all the gods and primordials of Abeir-Toril combined.[2][3][16] He could damage deities permanently,[7] demote them at will, and had the power to create new gods from sentient beings (if they accepted the responsibilities of godhood)[2]
In addition, unlike the gods under him, Ao did not need the worship of mortals and did not desire it either,[2] whereas those "normal" gods who did not receive the worship of mortals could die from lack of it.[10] Ao initiated this after the Time of Troubles in order to enforce his will that the gods act as guardians of the Balance, rather than kings of mortals.[3][8]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that due to the reverence of the gods currently in the Faerûn pantheon, there are very few new gods. We occasionally run into a Gale or a Cyric, but Ao isn't getting tons of new requests for new gods because the ambition for godhood has kind of died out/appeared unobtainable. The part about "accepting the responsibilities of godhood" particularly struck me because it sounds like as long as you are genuine in your duty anyone can become a god no matter how minor their portfolio or domain will be, so long as you don't overlap with an existing deity.
In my second playthrough I left Gale in the portal at the beginning of the game and I was disappointed to have no option to seize the crown for my self as a sorcerer
Unfortunately he's the only one with the "skills" to reforge it
1:36 Raph actually got TTFN'd

If you get this outcome as Origin Lae'zel it'd be hilarious how she'd achieve in just over 6 months what Vlaakith still hasn't after untold millennia.

- Gale and his love Lae'zel to Vlakith, probably
Oooh… I love the colors on your character’s dress.
Why thank you
Didn't think this was a possible outcome. I thought Gale would be killed by Mystra if he tried.
I believe that happens with origin Gale, while this is companion
Honestly, iv not see every ending, but becoming a god with gale... is such an amazing ending
Quite good indeed
While this is an interesting ending. According to all the lore on ascending to Godhood. Is that you can fulfill any and all the requirements but "Ao" will just knock you back down if "Ao" is not interested in you becoming a God. Then after you get knocked back down after ascending you become a lich. Just feel like BG3 slipped up here because "Ao" no longer allows Gods to ascend mortals to Godhood anymore. He restricted that heavily after the Gods went out of control in the beginning. My assumption here is that "Ao" might have already approved the MC to join Gale in Celestia before doing this. That's the only logical thing I can think of.
It's probably something Gale discussed already, I suppose
Perhaps Karsus was one of the last exceptions he was willing to make, and Karsus fucked it up somehow, but maybe that exception is still embodied in the crown

Or OLOT
That's when Asmodeus steps in and no one involved is happy.
XD
From my understanding Asmodeus has almost no pull outside of Baator. Stepping foot in Elysium would start a fight that makes the Blood War look like two cats taking a shit, and Asmodeus is smart enough to know it.
I really love that music that plays at 3:07 it makes the scene with Gale all so more beautiful 🥹
And it's a unique track too, I believe
@@Saretz oh it definitely can be!
If Raphael can't even handle Gale then he's gonna get wrecked by Asmodeus.
He aims too high
That’s why my man was desperate for some more power. To most mortals, he’s definitely terrifying, but ultimately Raphael is a tiny fish in a big pond.
@@Slop_Dogg yep
I really hate that taking the crown works out for him. It's an obvious hubris test that screwed over everyone who used it, and every established wise figure was telling him it's a bad idea to use it. It's even more egregious that he gets around a deal with a devil by doubling down on his bad idea.
To be fair, it's just one of the possible outcomes, he can also 💥
“YOU CAN’T”
“I JUST DID”
snap
I can never get this exact ending because I love killing Raphael in his own house too much. His song is great and the fight is more fun than the actual last fight of the game.
You might not get the Raphael part, but this ending is still a thing (without him) if you romance Gale 👀
Hohoho that was DELECTABLE !
😉
Mans hardcore dumped me to become a god in mine.. didnt even give me the option to go with him
Happened to me as well in another run
By the letters of the deal, gale is not in breach of it. He is still alowing Raphael to get the crown, he just has to pick it up
Technically true
The idea of Raphael trying to take over the Hells with the crown makes me laugh. Literally any of the Primals would make him a shit stain on the side of the road, even with the crown. He MIGHT have a shot against Zariel, but any of the others? I can just imagine Mephistopheles laughing his ass off the moment Raphel knocks on his door.
Many brought that up already, waiting for Asmodeus to thanos him xD
Meph is going to look at Raphael like a son with hulk gloves thinking he can dunk dad with his new toy.
@@theworstcatholic7247 😅
Unfortunately in Raphael's ending where you agree to the contract the ending scene is him accouncing that Mephistopheles submitted to him, and is basically implied he's on his way to taking over the Hells and even further beyond
@@forgothispasswordThere are some theories I've read on that, saying how Meph is just waiting cause he knows Asmodeus will wipe the floor with him
oh oh oh... haven't seen that one yet...
you've been invited to godhood! :o :)
😉
Eager to see the video or Raphael after the credits !!
How did this occur?! Accepted the contract and not killing him? I always refused the contract so I didn't know he could remain alive.
Yep contract still up and Raph alive, and yes that video will come either today (on the 23rd, depending on your time zone) or tomorrow on the 24th
@@SaretzI finally got this scene woohoo!! The only difference was that Raphael popped as his human version in my camp and not as a cambion. Still very funny !!!
@@lulu_croissant Really? Interesting, maybe they changed it with update 6
Wow, kudos to Larian for thinking about that too.
Crazy right?
