I recently found this camera in a storage unit with old memories that I never thought I would see again (my dad's old camera). I was wondering if you could do a video on how to transfer videos over to a MacBook Pro laptop/apple computer from this camera, it would mean the world to me to be able to save the old videos and memories on my newer computer!
I bought it for $500 in about 2007/08, back just before the iPhone. Just looking at this to see how it compares to the cell phone camera now. I remember thinking about how I cared about the zoom back then. Wondering out loud, why I don't care about zoom with a cell phone but I did with a Handycam. Although, I did use the zoom too. Filming around doing vacation videos and such. Whereas, now that social media is in such a wider sort of use. I somehow just wouldn't film in the same kind of way with a camera phone. I can't quite put my finger on it but it probably has something to do with what I'm almost subconsciously thinking as to what I'm going to do with the film clips. Isn't that funny? I bet this is a familiar mentality but it's hard to pin down why we don't care about zoom as much anymore. Maybe because now when I'm filming I'm not thinking about a home video but something that I'm going to clip onto the internet for a short video that the public can view. And somehow that makes me not care about zoom, thoughts, IDK.

So I've had this camera for a long time. I never figured i would have to transfer any photos or videos to my computer, so I always kept everything inside the camera. Long story short, my family and I loved watching old videos together. My grandpa picked up on this and one day asked us if he could watch some videos independently on it. We allowed him, but he was never good at handling technology. He ended up deleting some videos and photos when he was lost on the device. My question is if there is still somehow a way to recover these videos/photos. We had videos from 2007 and i don't know if it's too late to recover them or not. Any response would be greatly appreciated.
As far as I know, if they are deleted off the original camera without being backed up, then they are gone. Some Sony cameras actually copy the video into two separate files, like the CX330 does, but I don't think this one does. If you connect the camera to a computer with the dock, and the files are not on there, then they are unfortunately gone for good.
Bro I have some questions about the this camera. Could I email you if possible? To upload videos to your computer you just need a USB cord that connects to the camcorder to the computer? Or what’s the vibes
To connect the camcorder to the computer, you have to have the charging dock. There's no cable port on the camera itself, so you have to connect it to the dock, then connect the dock to the computer.

You can just look up Sony dcr sr40 Bluetooth connector and connect and it should work :)
