You are one of the good minded Jamaicans. You are always encouraging people. I've met some bad minded jamaicans in Nashville TN. Especially those who run off without documentation.
You are RIGHT in your analysis. Before we changed countries, those who had done so ahead of us, GAVE us the WRONG 😑 impression. They SPOKE as though they were DOING well. They never 👎 MENTIONED whatever HARDSHIP they were GOING through. So some people came LOOKING for the PEARL 🍐 in the OYSTER. We have to CHANGE our ATTITUDES and MINDSET in our new LANDS. It is similar to MOVING from ONE ☝️ GRADE to ANOTHER.
The problem is that a lot of Jamaicans who have never left think life is like you see on social media when you go to foreign. Life is not tik tok and a celebrity lifestyle is not real If you migrate you have to work and stand on your own feet, you have to start somewhere then you progress and achieve in time if you are a motivated person….. !
Dem lucky dem get basement fe live inna!!!! Back in the 50s in England, when all those (mainly) men went up and couldn't find place to live, what do you think they did? Bed space is all they could get!!! All 6-7 beds in one big room. The landlord supply them with sheet, blanket, pillow; can't remember if it was every 2 weeks or once a month linen change. If they got a basement, they'd think they'd died and gone to heaven!!!! The English people in those days who rent rooms would put up a sign to say "No Blacks, No Irish". Life has never been easy for immigrants. We old immigrants are a different breed!! You have to be strong, focus on what you want and don't get side-tracked by the small stuff................Ah suh it guh!!!!!
I came to the US with USD$30.00 in my pocket & I worked my butt off & bought a two family house twenty years ago..I still own that house & It has appreciated in value over these many.. years..I am now retired & the house is still earning positive income for me every month.
