Some nice finds in this one 🍀 Getting on that old stuff is exciting congrats. I recently got in on my first pit and it was old with most everything busted but I still loved the experience. Can't wait to get on another. We probed more but only found the one. Snow here now GL & HH
Thanks Paul! We were actually really excited about digging that last pit with the open pontils, especially after our dry run of digging. We were trying to stay calm because there were a whole bunch of other people out and about in their yards that day trying to do their own thing.
You guys did great! Love that coin! You should think about making those pottery and China shards into jewelry like pendants, etc. because I would surely buy one!

I actually think they might have been dug by us. Those places look familiar. We dug all over Harrisburg and Middletown back in the 80s on up until 2005. In fact we had to fill in a solid, packed open pontil hole because we had to get to the airport to catch our plane. One of these days I will go back and open it back up. I will give you guys a call to help if you like!

I’ve been digging for 50 years and have never seen so many privies full of pontils. If I were lucky enough to find that level of pottery and bottles, I’d be doing it slower. Crazy. I live in the northeast and most of what I dig is smashed to smithereens.
you should make the kids sift...heh..not usually enough time..but one time I brought my girlfriend and....she didn't really want to dig....at all.....but she found quite a number of neat items....a couple Indian Head pennies..buttons..etc...

Good stuff. I just started to get serious into bottle hunting. Creeks so far no digging yet.
