Congrats on your first open pontil, Seth! I bet you've found a lot more by now but I have a lot to catch up with. Great dig, guys, thanks for sharing it with us.
There's a lot of work involved in this kind of job, both before and during. You all have a great work ethic and your channel shows great promise. I started out watching vids from across the pond, then the North Dakota kid, and now you. Looks like you have a great family! Keep up the good work! I'm too old to do that kind of work, but I sure oooh'd along with everyone else. I definitely would get me a wooden stick that's been sharpened, it works really well for the North Dakota kid (not his channel name, but that's what I call him in my head lol).
Over all I myself believe that was a great dig. When your able to get two nice whole pontils and a beautiful blob, plus the poison and a Simmon's liver Regulator. That's a great day. The atomizer was real cool too. If you's can't find a single claw tool use a small painting roller handle. It's what I use. I'm going to subscribe because I think your channel will do good. GL & SS
Thank you for your support Bruce! We actually just started to use a single claw tool after a friend brought his along on this week's episode. We took an old three prong and removed two of the prongs.
Great video....Judging by the contents or lack of, and the small privy these people back in the day probably didn't have much money...that's where you get lots of slicks and a few broken criers....they probably reused stuff until it broke,
Paul, we don't think these people had much money either. However, we think the big differences in ages is a sign of the privy being dipped many times over.
I'm 1st to leave a comment, Yes! Wonderful video. Congrats on your first pontil. You dug up some sweet bottles. Too bad on your master ink and your beer that was slick, but the bottle itself is gorgeous. Take care and be safe.
Thank you Debra. Even though that ink is broken, it was still amazing just to dig a piece of such a rare bottle. Of course digging the whole bottle would be even better.
Thanks Jay. In privies, dipped means that when they were still being used, they cleaned out the privies as they filled up. So even if the house is old, you may not find old bottles because they were removed at some point.
You guys GOT to get rid of that three prong rake when you are in a good layer! You need an angled cut pvc pipe, or a wooden handle with a point on it. Get that big shovel out of there too...geeeez.
Most times we use three prongs and screw drivers and take our time to get bottles out of the good layer. In this privy, we were really being pushed for time and didn't think we could finish it.
@@cloverdalediggers nice. Wow y’all dig some great stuff like crickdiggers and digger Dave and shoveling Shelley. ❤️ I’m in Fredericksburg va and I can’t find anything 😢 lol
The term "dipping" would have been when they cleaned out the privy to use it again. When they dipped them out, they would never get all the use, leaving behind that age period of bottle. We believe this one was dipped at least twice, if not more. However this was the only privy in the yard. We can tell from the date range of the bottles.
Love your little helper buddies! ❤️❤️😎😎
Some lovely bits coming out that tip well recovered

New Supporter to your channel 👍. I'll be watching for upcoming items that you have for sale. 💪😎
Thank you for the support Bouncer! We plan on setting up some sort of website or platform to list some bottles for sale in the very near future.
Whoa! This is so great!!
Thank you, Sean.
Great job boys, hard work and some good bottles, sorry about that one rare bottle.
I'm down with O.P.P. 🍀🏴☠️⚡

@@cloverdalediggers Yes indeed....The tell tale signs of heavy dipping are shards of a bottle but not enough to piece it back together.
Nice scores!!!

Just subscribe to your channel awesome Video 👍Great finds Be safe 👍🙏👍
Nice finds.what does dipped mean?

Thanks,I’ve heard of dipped privies several times but didn’t know what it meant
At your clean up. what happened to the other bottles? I'd take that blob top all day long and I like a few of the other ones too
We included most of the good pulls out of the pit. Some, like that bug bottle, we handed over to the younger ones before we did the clean up.
@@cloverdalediggers It's always a good thing when the young ones are enjoying the hobby. Will you be selling any of your bottles?
@@bruceritchie4382 yes. We are actually working on a website right now and plan to have it up within the next few days.
@@cloverdalediggers I'm looking forward to it. Thanks

Thanks! I'm sure there's got to be something around there. Sometimes it just takes a day or two of walking around and looking at maps.
