Until you're close to one of these when they are working hard you cannot imagine how loud they are. That chug, chug chug is more like bang, bang, bang...
I'm really not in a position to be critical. However. the farmer could've have had a much straighter head land if the first man on the plow raised his bottom just as it reached the headland & each of other operators raised his bottom consecutively as his bottom reached the headland.
@@n.mcneil4066 Yes, why on earth did they not do that? I have used semi mounted plows and that is the first thing to try and learn to make the start and end even.
In 1910 the Lanz company built their 25,000. Locomobile with the then sensational performance of 1000 hp net. It was the largest locomotive in the world up to that point,
steam engines where old school technology they were made and used long be 4 gas tractors were made they were used alot 4 plowing and 4 flat belt work and they pulled a many sawmills that all changed after WW2 then went 2 gas and diesel power units then 2 there was alot more tractors being made and used gas and diesel tractors both 😊 OMG 5 14 2O23
I tried to count the bottoms. I don't believe this was footage of the 44 bottom set up it pulled. It looked more like approximately 30. Difficult to tell. It wasn't showing it's full pulling power, even with the 44. It never spun a wheel, or lost rpm.
I''m surprised that big plow pulled straight. We couldn't hardly get an 8 bottom to not run sideways. Also neat how they added an extra band on the steel wheels for "duals".
Felicitaciones muy bien cuidados esos tractores : soy de argentina Entre Ríos y les comento q acá en el el ingreso a concordia hay uno pero no funciona
It took many decades before diesel tractors or trucks could match the torque of monsters like this. Even smaller steamers on the Prony brake register more than 2000 lb-ft.
@@simon-oy6umthis 1 in the vid is a reproduction. There was only 9 case 150 steam engines ever built, all were scrapped during ww1 for the metals. Corey Anderson got the original blueprints from the case company and with some minor tweeks he made this beauty once again. So this 1 is the 10th case 150 steam engine to grace this planet.
Have they ever been able to get a full dyno pull on this one? The last one I saw where they tried it kept throwing the belt around 1,000 pound/feet. Maybe it was a much higher torque figure, the power was still climbing when the belt would start to slip
I wouldn't go to far from these tractors!! With the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel farmers may be breaking up the dining room table and chairs just to plow their fields!! 😮😮
I don’t understand why there Hass to be 30 human beings tending 30 individual plows? You couldn’t replace that person with a spring and a hydraulic piston or anything?
Pregunta , aqui sembramos con labranza cero , o siembra directa, un tractor de estos ¿ que maquina podria arrastrar ? Y cuanto combustible usaria para trabajar un campo de 1000 hectareas ?
Fantastic...cant beat the old stuff...kudos to those folks who keep them running!
Not fast but it is unstoppable! Love the sound of steam working. Nothing else like it.
Unbelievable force from one tiny cylinder. But do the math; max steam pressure 20 bar, about 40 cm dia, so the force will be around 25 ton!
It's not metric
@@jacobmeadows1064 40 cm would be close to 16 inches. I wouldn't consider that tiny.
More than what a piston engine could ever do! Amazing
I love this equipment. I would be cool to see a steam shovel and crane
It warms my heart and gives me hope to see younger people involved in events like these. We need more of them. Thank you for this from Africa.
Einfach wunerbar solche Giganten im Einsatz zu sehen. Klar ist es unwirtschaftlich, ein wenig Spaß muss man trotzdem haben. 😉

I grew up with Jonny popper's and steam. What an age
Steam Traction Engine.
Is the correct terminology.
King of steam power.
The monster is making easy work of the earth with that massive plow
You can understand why the United States was a great country.
Amazing. Most powerful than any diesel tractor.
The steam tractor is slow, but the earth is patient
slow, but torquey
Maquina impressionante!
Awesome 👏. Thanks y’all
Farmer that hosts this event getting his fields plowed for free... Genius!

That farmer is also getting a lot of compaction on soil from the heavy weight of those steams. Compaction is not good.
このトラクターは、いつ頃作られたのですか?
When was this tractor made?
1905
Awwe, such magnificent machines.. and beautiful sounds! Glad there are still folks young and old to keep them going!!

Nothing delicate about that beast now is there?
Unbelievable!!

people into the steampunk thing would move from NYC to Kansas and become farmers after seeing that thing.

Fantástico.
They did a lot of great things. i know that

But they didn't...
They still don't. But they're a lot more convenient to use.
well they haven't yet!
They only built one ??

Given the crazy of the manufacturers keeping the repairs to themselves, maybe these things are due for a revival…..
I'm honestly thinking about building one and using it
I wouldn't be anywhere near that, if it exploded they'd all cease to exist

After biden is done this will be the only way left to plow the fields.
Not even these will be "allowed". It will be horses if they don't kill them too because of farts.
