That was my first conscious contact and my first video with/of a Lanz Bulldog. I've seen and filmed many beautiful ones now, but this is the most beautiful one so far 😊. Thanks for your comment 👍.
And what are you gonna do once electricity runs out? Nowadays, everyone is too spoiled and weak to be asked to start a car manually. What good does that give you?
That tractor is not only beautiful but it also sounds healthy as well. I'm an International harvester guy but I love the looks and sound of the Lanz Bulldog. Greeting from the USA.
Beautiful machine! Certainly way more comfortable to ride than the HL-series. "Eil-Bulldog" - is that one of the Buldog with the 10,4l (634cui) engine?
Most interesting. Having lived in Maarssen, Netherlands, close to Utrecht for years, I always wondered about the sound of the ships in the canal. Some produce a sound like this Lanz Bulldog. I visited a shipyard museum recently, where I found information about this type of engine. It turns out that many of the older barges on the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal use this "gloeikop" type of engine, which explains the extreme low revolutions type of engine. It also explains why this type of engine was used widely in cargo ships. Moving parts reduced to the absolute minimum, long lifespan, very reliable. (gloeikop = glow head, which has to be heated before you can start the engine. Clear in the video.)

Beautiful machine! Would love a car modelled on this chassis but not the engine. I notice there is no crank handle on the starter wheel this would prevent broken bones. Thank you, great video.
I've seen some Lanz Bulldog tractors like that on the internet. I love how they seem like a combination between a tractor and an early convertible coupe. Does this kind have a specific model name? I know every Bulldog had a different model
Mich hat am meisten interessiert, ob Lothar es noch rechtzeitig schaffen würde. Dann die Verwirrung um Boris und Bodo... und ein Trecker war auch im Bild 👍
Fascinating but why would any farmer go through this to start their tractor? Especially when these were manufactured at the same time that more efficient, smoother engines were available.

It's a port ( no valves) reed valve crankcase intake two-stroke , of only 3 to 1 or 4.5 to 1 compression ! So all the diesel cycle experts who say it can't compression ignition under 19 to 1 your in for a shock !

@@bodoP.ausH.67 the Landz Bulldog Bulldozer from the 1950s sold here in Australia all had the 12 Gauge blank shotgun cartridge start , they didn't have steering wheels at all , they all are yellow , they have normal bulldozer skid steer levers to turn right or left , there is a mark on the flywheel that is machined in saying START you turn it to this point , on the head there is a tube that goes up to the radiators height , you unscrew it , it takes a 12 gauge blank, screw it in and it has a firing pin you tap with a hammer and it fires and starts , I worked on 4 that were exactly the same , all came from Australian mines in the 1950s , it is possible the Australian ones are licenced Landz Bulldogs , they are full bulldozers NOT trascavators . They do not have a steering wheel that could be used to start them so maybe this was used for these models , every Aussie Landz uses this method , I've never seen the steering wheel.used . The Australian Landz uses the same shotgun start as the Farmall tractor that uses a very similar engine to the Landz . But there's are Landz Bulldog Bulldozers .
Everyone is hung up on how long it takes to start !!!! That is not the only way to start it ! I never knew they made tractors with bodywork like that. From the image, I was thinking it was a fire engine.
