For those in Texas (especially around San Antonio) these will grow well here but need to be cut down to the ground level before the first freeze. They’ll tend to peek back out of the ground in the June/July timeframe but usually get back up to 15 feet by November. I love the tips of new growth the best for salads. There’s plenty of videos on how to cook the leaves though which I keep meaning to try. Well worth growing, especially as a “pioneer plant “ for new food forests.

Moringa is not a legume. Not a nitrogen fixer. But it is an awesome tree regardless!

I have a few at my house, which variety do you recommend. My Indian neighbor loves making a curry with our pods.

Wow! That is the prettiest seed I have seen. I have ordered seeds that look like such crap and wont grow at all. I live here in AZ , in New River and would love to plant one of your offspring. How do I get some?

Just today I was wondering about my moringa. So thank you Jay. My seed pods are forming. Can the seeds be planted as soon as they dry up on the tree?

Jay you can sell the moringa leaves and the pods to the local Indian store and make money.

Do you get gophers in your yard? If so how do you address them? Thanks for the video. Gophers eat every moringa I plant in my yard. I don’t wanna plant chicken wire in the ground so I just have to deal with it for now

There’s people all over the valley here in Phoenix selling moringa starter trees for cheap. Go to the offer up app. Look up moringa. I have a few seeds left.

Have you checked on offer up? Do you know the offer up app? It’s very nice and handy. It’s like Craigslist but a bit more easier. I just want on and checked for moringa, I found so many for sale on there. You will have to look for best deal. Lots of starters already for cheap prices. I wouldn’t buy them at nursery, just because they are so easy to grow, nursery will charge you so much money for this tree, people on offer up will sale them anywhere from 5 bucks to 20 depending on size. Just buy a small one, because the grow very fast. Just make sure to addd a sandy mixed soil or at least well drained. Good luck.

I'm assuming you are referring to Asimina triloba/American pawpaw and not papaya. Papaya of course is super easy here. I've gotten tiny papaya starts online and they take off. Even by seed is easy. On the american pawpaw, different story. I tried and failed several times in dense microclimates and Jay has also tried. If he had fruit or a thriving tree, I'm sure he 'd be showing it off. American pawpaw grows by rivers. It needs moist humid conditions. Our dry summers are too brutal. Mango tastes better anyways and is doable here.

I’m sorry I didn’t see you were referring to paw paw. I assumed moringa. Lol. My apologies. I’m not sure where to find paw paw tree.
