This is a test drive of the Mercedes Benz C class W205. I show you the distronic plus, steering assist and lane keeping assist. Enjoy the video!
This car is a real cruiser machine. Especially in comfort mode. It drives so smooth. In Sport plus mode it turns into a sports beast with the time of gear changes decreased by 20% compared to sport mode. It's a C200. Same 2 liter as C250 and C300. C300 is a little different. Mercedes C180 has a 1.6 liter engine. C400 is a real beast for a six cilinder. C450 AMG has amazing sound. POV point of view. Current camera: SONY HDR

On the road I usually see many Mercedes CLA models. I think they look nice, but there is almost no space in the back seats.
Update: Check out the new Mercedes E Class W213. It will release 2016 . The display console is integrated in the dashboard.

i've been using adaptive cruise for more than a year.. and i have felt the pos/cons of the technology i many driving situations:
Pros:
1- of course it liberate you from managing your speed and cruise control every time someone slower than you moving front you..
2- it's nice that you can look more at your surroundings while driving.. because you relay on this technology to slowdown when something comes ahead of you..
the nice thing is even when you are distracted.. as soon you feel the car slowed down, it will help you pay attention to road again!
3- it's so ideal in medium traffic wide city roads with medium city speeds, so if you live in these areas.. this system is perfect for you!
4- a must have option for unskilled drivers or for old people.. it could save their lives!
Cons:
1- in many cases in highway and interstate drives , there are so many bad drivers out there.. there are alot of idiots who drive slowly on the fastest lane.. you will feel that you are trapped behind a slow driver and your car just obeys their speed...sadly your car won't go close enough to make the driver front you open the way for you and i don't thing ever this technology will evolve to get a bit closer to other drivers.. (for safety and such).. i found my self pressing gas often to make my car get closer so the other drivers move away!!! they won't move away while you are far from them!
2- As your car stuck behind a slow car.. another car behind you wants you to open up the way for it to pass, and it's stuck on your tail..
many drivers still uses old normal cruise controls, they tend to requests drivers to move away from fast lane because of how slow your car and the one front you are driving.
i found my self switching lanes going left and right because of that slow car front me. these bad drivers are headache in highway.. and in some cases disabling the cruise control because the lane i want to switch to has even more slow cars and i don't want the car to panic and hit brakes! .. it defeats the purpose of this technology..
3- i already trust the technology in terms of it's safety.. while driving 140km/h or more.. but at same time at that high speed, the the stakes are higher.. and i know the car will hit the brakes if anything goes wrong.. sadly i came to hate that idea of pushing the car into tight situations that may end up causing the car to panic and hit the break.. you don't want whoever with you in the car to jump off their seats when the car hit the break.. no way... obviously this technology won't be as good as skilled human driver . so i end up disabling the system to deal with tight situations until the road clears up a bit.. again it defeats the purpose of this technology..
SO should you get adaptive cruise control??.. the answer is.. it depends on where you live and where you go..
if you live in low traffic city and you don't hit highway rarely, this tech won't be as a life changer to you!
if you have so many bad drivers in your city.. maybe it's good idea to just drive the car in your own..

Really clever. I like the auto cruise and the braking. Not sure about the steering with the hands off. Mind you in 20 years time they will say we were crazy for holding onto the wheel at motorway speeds. Good video, love the car.

MercBenzKing Holy crap the Distronic Plus is like autopilot for a car and it already looks like autonomous driving. I’m glad that Mercedes-Benz created this systems for their cars. Oh and by the way, great videos I like watching them all the time.

If you are standing still at the stop light with distronic plus on, you dont have to press the pedal to move. You just pull your distronic plus handle back towards you and it will start driving. In traffic I never touch my pedals with Distronic plus on 😁

I love your videos, I especially like watching them since my W205 C200 AMG Line is due in the UK on 27th April!! Woohoo!!! I've gone for the driver assistance pack on mine as I love the idea of the car taking over when I'm stuck in traffic, the only thing I found (when I had a demonstrator for 24 hours) was that it does seem to brake rather late and it's a little scary! Do you find the same? Do you learn to trust it in time?
Thanks! Nice. With Distronic Plus you can select the distance you want to have with the car in front of you by rotating the top of the handle as demonstrated at 1:25 So if you have it set to a larger distance than the car will brake earlier. On the highway I almost fully trust the distronic plus system. In city driving you have to be careful with cars suddenly entering you lane at a low speed (e.g. at a stoplight for example).

It didn’t work, it only works with the solid lines , for broken lines steering only vibrates

Very cool vid but have you ever found the HUD is a bit distracting? At least it seems so on the video but not sure how it goes in real life.
KosherTV it's complete opposite because you don't have to look down all the time to check your speed etc

+tine djuric Thanks :) It is fun to play around with the steering assist and to show it to other people, but it's not a thing you need to have... Distronic plus is a handy system. Definitely a fan of the new technology of Mercedes.
i think the same like you :) yep distronic is cool but on the other hand if i have the money to spend it for the autopilot-systems they are working on i´d rather spend it on a train ride basically the same happens, i get driven :D when i´m in a car i want to drive it myself :)

Yes, button leftside on the dashboard. The information, brightness and location on the window can be adjusted.

Did you drive fast to Germany and how was the fuel consumption to Germany and back?:)
+sumeshan govender In the Netherland I didn't drive faster than the speed limit. In germany I drove pretty fast. On average around 160/170 kmh. Fuel consumption was a bit high. Between 10 and 11l/100km. Dealership wants to download a upgraded version of the software so the fuel consumption is normal again.
Do you use the car everyday to campus or is it parked off and used on the weekends?
+sumeshan govender I don't use the car everyday to campus. Maybe ones a week :) I use the car around three times a week. Last weekend I went to Germany with the car and drove on the autobahn :)

+nAiF aZh Of course, this car is all about comfort. Really quiet inside, only some tire roll. Best in it's class. Also sporty when needed. New video coming soon about the different driving modes :)

Get the E class!! duh!
The E class has newer technology, is more luxurious and has more interior space. C Class on the other hand feels sportier, when you sit inside it feels like you are one with the car, because of the curvy interior design. E Class has more edges in the interior.
I think E class drives with more comfort on the road, because it is heavier. I would recommend the E Class, if you need more space, if you want the newest technology and integrated displays like in the S Class. If you want the C class, than it's a good idea to wait for the new facelift. It will have the same interior like the E Class also with the large integrated displays ;) Also nice 64 different colors for ambient lighting.

Its a stand alone option. No need of any package for HUD.

+sumeshan govender Sometimes, but not on purpose. When I accelerate to hard from start the wheels spin a bit and than esp kicks in.
The C clas has active lane change assist. Only Mercedes doesn't tell you that is has and I'm not sure if they deactivated the function for some cars.
Mercedes confirmed this feature when the C class came out: "Other new developments include intuitively understandable Active Lane Change Assist and Active Emergency Stop Assist as new functions of Active Steering Assist."

NCAP noted that for the 2018 C class it has "lane change assist" in its system. However Mercedes doesn't say a thing about it, not on the option list neither on the manual, could you let us know what happens in you are using distronic plus steering assist and keep the lever pushed down for 2 seconds?
what happens if you are on 120km/h and signs say 100km/h allowed. Can it go down to 100km/h or do you have to make it by yourself?

It's embarrassing that the other cars for the same price and even higher price brackets can't do this.

Every Gear of the 7G-Tronic is exactly the same long (rpg) in any Models. May it's a mistake by me, but i know only 2300 rpm @120 km/h
my new E350 with 9G ironic is at 1500 RPM at 130 km/h
