She deserved to qualify. She gave of one of the best performances that night. Performing second after Sweden and before Australia, respectively Albania was not the best idea. In my opinion, she deseved the final more than Greece or Cyprus.
In 2008, she took part in the Georgian National Final (a GREAT selection, btw) as part of a group (3G) and as a soloist. Thanks to that event I also became familiar with other Georgian acts, like Salome Korkotashvili.
One of my fair winners of that year, and of course I still listen to it. It's so powerful. Georgia never invested too much on staging but I don't need it, she's already powerful with her voice and those backing vocalists doing maybe more than half of the job but I really feel that's the right way of singing it: she's the leader (in voice, in speech), and other people support her and also tell you to keep the faith and all of that. This one is so good for being part of a "too much or too little" lyrics genre (the "be strong/you'll be alright").
Ok! 3 months ( - ish ) until the Swedish Melodifestival begins. So I have to start warming up. What better way to do that than to watch your videos. :)

It VERY nearly qualified and I wouldn't have been disappointed if it had, however it didn't surprise me that it failed to get through to the final. Just not quite special enough. Also, I much preferred Georgia's entry of 2009, when Taco was a member of a group that won the national final and was barred from appearing at the contest due to political reasons. " We don't want to put in" was brilliant if not controversial, due to Russia's annexation of a part of Georgia's national territory (sound familiar?). I totally recommend the disco remix version. It's fabulously retro and is on my Eurovision playlist to this day.
In the national final she had anti-Russian political video footage on the screen behind her, for example Russian tanks from their 2008 conflict with Georgia over the renegade provinces of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. It's a miracle that the was even allowed to compete with this song. Other entries were disqualified for lesser reasons (Macedonia 2013).
Also this version is much more muted and easier on the ears when you compare this to the NF version. I prefer this version 1000 times more. Shame it didn't qualify.
