    Regarding slenderness ratio criteria that you suggested to neglect the effect of the term 12M1/M2 only means two posibilities: either M1 is zero or M2 is infinite in value. Either of the two is not possible as M1 and M2 are related by relative stiffness. If we take M1 value as zero would also mean two things: inexistent moment or infinite relative stiffness which either of the two is also not possible. It is therefore (in my opinion) not meaningful to disregard the effect of the term 12M1/M2. Happy New Year!!!

    Salamat po. Very informative ang topic. Paano po yung pinagawa ko house na 2 storey. Safe po kase nung chineck sa design software (i.e. ETAB) pero hindi pumasa sa slenderness ng column (200 x 400) nung nag manual check ako. Bale nasa 3.5 meters ang height from footing to 2nd floor beam. Hindi ko po kase nalagyan ng tiebeam pero pinalibutan ko po ng wall footing (300 x 450) ang exterior. Malaki po ba effect ng walang tie beam sa mga 2 storey building?

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633
      @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ganito yan sir, hindi ba pag nag dedesign tayo especially sa column we normally treat it in worst case condition, meaning absolutely no brace at all or "completely independent"
      But in real life these columns are sandwich by masonry walls (wherein horizontal dowels passes through) this will keep the column braced all through out its entire height.
      So no worries. Thanks

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633
      @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right, we can always check axial load and that includes weight of column itself, but in my example I just presented other way of doing it especially if it looks critical. Like I mentioned in my video, the safest way of designing column is to investigate its least dimension because that is the weak-axis. Thanks

    QUESTION: Sir engr. , Gaya po ng nabanggit niyo na govern madalas and DL at LL pag 3storey residential or below, and pwede ignore na yung Wind load and Earthquake load, ang question ko po ay accepted ba yan na manual computation pag mag submit ka sa building officials or ano-ano po ang coverage ng manual computation sa structural design na isa-submit ng CE sa pinas??
    REQUEST: Pwede po mag request ng wind load manual computation din po (gamit ang nscp) gaya nito for your next video, love your contents as always sir, more power pa po and stay healthy

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633

      I suggest, submit a complete structural analysis (computerise model), then detailed calculation for each structural members.
      Pwede combined computer analysis plus manual yung design.
      But if you dont have software for structure pwede naman manual mag model ka nalang ng 2 or 3 critical frame to show those laterals.
      In my experience mas gusto nang building official manual calculation.
      I hope that helps. Thanks

      1.10m (square footing)x 300 mm thick with 5-16mm rebars each way would be sufficient.
      For column (9units) use, 200x400 with 4pcs-16mm rebars are good too, you are on minimum requirement
      Do not dig too deep for footing, 1meter is enough sabi mo ma bato naman yung sub grade. Thanks

    • @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633
      @jsdesign_engineeringtv3633  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Multi function ang tie beam, it could serve as the ffg; column stiffener (like in my video), ground wall/ chb wall footing, or part of footing system especially if columns are too-far-apart.
      Sometimes, meron din mga ground floor(g/f) slab designed as suspended slab instead of slab-on-grade, they placed it on top of perimeter tie beam (tb), though it's on the ground but perform as similar to floor beam. In this case you need an intermediate tb to sustain the demand of g/f slab.
      So, depende sa analysis ng designer, in other words walang mali o tama.
      Hope that helps, thanks
