This game is the most underrated game ever.. I didn't have any problem with the repetitive soundtrack I loved every song in there.. The only problem I had is going back to replenish troops, but the atmosphere of the game absolutely covers that up. One of the best games I ever played for sure. Still waiting for a new one lol.

In Russia you must fight to have fun with your games.
Also there are tones of references in this game. to SF, Fantasy, anime and other games.
Oh my god, this game was so, SO amazing!
Possibly the best game i have ever played...
If i remember correctly, i beat it on the highest difficulty, by abusing the load mechanics to explore the maps without spending ingame time...
To this day, i have the save-state to claim that victory...

I got the whole series when it was on sales a few years ago. I went in blind and I tried my hand at Legend, got my ass beat and got confused at some of the combat mechanics which causes me to dropped it. 2 years later I tried it again, and after getting used to a couple of things I was hooked. Nearly failed some of my classes because I was so addicted to this game. I came to appreciate the depth of the combat system, the world is, as you say, extremely charming, and I kinda fell in love with this series now. Knowing the history behind it made it even more cool.
+1 to the russian accent impersonation. Nice! Dark.. Depressing Comrade.
But this game make is a new gameplay component. And for small and inexperienced Russian studio to does Homm4 not good. Isn't it?

The Legend and Armored Princess/Crossworld are some of the most awesome HoMM style games ever made. The King's Bounty games made afterwards, starting from Warriors of the North... well, not so much.
What happened to Katauri interactive? One would have thought that with that product, they would have found their way to more successes...
But it should be King's Bounty style games. The original came before HoMM. It astounds me that so many huge fanboys of that series don't know it's technically a sequel.
@@VRichardsn They closed down in 2013. The last two King's Bounty games (Warriors of the North and Dark Side) were made by 1C's inside studio.

Oh... I am very very sorry to hear that. King's Bounty has a special place among games for me, because it was a game made with such love and attention to detail, and came out absolutely out of _nowhere_
@@VRichardsn If you loved their King's Bounty games, check out their previous work - the Space Ranger series. It's not a TBS (Space Rangers is really hard to pin down when it comes to genres), but it's got a lot of the same quirks that made King's Bounty special.
I remember I did the mistake of starting on Hard for the first playthrough... suffice to say, I never finished it. I managed to get quite far, but by the end, I was without any kind of army facing gigantic odds.
I need to play this again but on Normal. the game is excellent, but Armored Princess is just perfect.
Sorry Sir you were incorrect about US players. We played this game on a C64 later on DOS religiously. Still my Favorite game franchise. This game went under the radar in mainstream print mostly cause the game reviewers they had really didn't play any games that didn't utilize run and jump. Everyone I knew had Kings bounty 1 & 2 then later Might and Magic. This game holds a very special place in my gaming heart however.

I bought the Original King's Bounty way back in 1992 and absolutely loved it. I bought King's Bounty legends about 7 years ago and guess what? Loved that also. So in conclusion good job .

It's not 1c, it's 1s (yes, it reads as "one ass"). Which, actually describes fairly well the quality of 95% of things they develop and/or publish after soiling with their "professional localisation and Russian voiceover".
1s is also well known (at least in Russia) for their accounting software better known as (and hated for being) "BASIC translated into Russian via Promt".

It even looks better than homm3, King's bounty literally looks like how HOMM4 should have been... combat has more depth than homm3.
I wonder why dont they do expansion or turn it into a game with castles and multiplayer...
Or let people use the Engine and assets for license.. there's plenty of modders and homm-like game fanatics wich could turn this into a brilliant Gem

You forgot to mention that original DOS King s Bounty is the best game of the KB/HOMM series. Short and sweet you can finish it in a couple of hours.
I found the original King's Bounty on my heroes of might and magic 1 cd as a kid in like 1995, I played the heck out of it.

I completely agree with your assessment. I remember how skeptic I was when it was released, since I loved the original game on amiga. on top of that I had already witnessed how ubisoft had begon to bastardize arguable the best franchise in gaming - nwc/3do/mm series. Even the new kings bounty series has a lot of flaws it honors the spirit of might and magic/heroes of might and magic pre-ubisoft era.
And now we have Kings Bounty 2 coming out in 2020.
Still the best game in the franchise... by far. Oh yes.

I don't get the difficulty complaint,it's been a while since I played this but the only really hard parts I remember were the enraged mage staff and the undead general guy (that fight took me several tries). I think that the devs just intended the player to pick their fights,kinda like Gothic.
Still,a nice video. I think that this game is one of the very few that gave me a honest laugh,and I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay. More so due to the fact that I was not familiar with HoMM at the time.
Played this just now on normal and enjoyed this game untl around mid-game where the skeleton boss came around and I was very under leveled. Was avoided some grindy fights Either you have to clear out the maps of villans or you'll hit a brick wall at that point.
Boosted my character a bit with the console and finished the game but it's hard to find balance after you go to the dark side 😆 still relly enjoyed the time I had with this game.
I never got a resurrection spell though but only could make panthoms so that limited my tactics a bit
Overworld gameplay of HoMM and combat gameplay of King's Bounty would be perfection.
I discovered king's bounty when a let's player I watched did a playthrough of the Genesis/Mega Drive version. Looked unique, like the start of a series with a lot of potential. Then I learned that the direction it decided to evolve into was the HoMM series, multiplayer strategy, not my bag. I suck at that. Single player RPG Strategy was about the only kind of strategy games accessible to my smooth brain. Then, I found out that there was a new King's Bounty, this one, that had released within the past year and flew under my radar as I had never heard of King's Bounty until that let's play of the Sega version. Got my hands on it and had an absolute blast. I should really revisit this series next time I get the itch to play an army strategy RPG that lets me make up for my failings with diverse unit types to experiment with and the ability to rain fire on my foes. With so many expansions to choose from for The Legend alone as well as the series actually still going, I'll certainly be spoiled for choice.
Thank you for another great old school gaming vid. I never played the org. nor K's B. Legends but I might now when a good G.O.G. sales hits. I was never a fan of Heroes of M&M though I greatly enjoyed M&M II on Sega Genesis.
I recall there being a game for the Sega Genesis that had the turn based strategic armies fighting game that I thoroughly enjoyed. I recall being able to hire on Elvin , pilgrim, dragon and skeletal+ vampire mercs for your army. If anyone can recall that I'd apprciate it. I have been searching on my own 2 of course, not just being lazy. Peace!
Under the shadow of the oak still makes me tear up..the serenity and peace of the elven region, especially the valley of thousand rivers hits a chord to this day

One of my favorite games of all time. Playing through on the harder difficulty felt so rewarding when you found good artifacts and could kite enemies to avoid fighting. Then there's the challenge of how fast you could beat it, gave this game a sense of competition.
I had great fun with this game back in the day, though I never finished it. I think I hit a brick wall of difficulty at some point.
That could basically be the subtitle of the game. You get hit in the face hard when moving to new lands and suffer high attrition of your troops unless you play it like an absolute madman, using every dirty trick you can think of.
Best strategy ever.

The Sega Mega Drive version is quite unique and deserves more attention tho
Steam tells me I last played my Steam version of King's Bounty: The Legend in early 2012, and that I had over 81.2 hours logged playing it. I hadn't played the original, or any Might and Magic games, Heroes of other wise, so not really sure how I ended up buying it (especially given how poor i was in 2008-2012) but I still think back on it fondly from time to time, one of the lone bright spots in what was a very rough period in my life.

Game's only difficult if you don't cheese it. And like HoMM, there's plenty of ways to do that.

One thing that might also add to the difficulty is the shop RNG. As soon as you press new game every shop's content gets generated, along with their possible expansions (for example the royal castle's roster of units expand as you progress the main quest, but within the same run you will always get the same expansion). This can lead to situations where you luck into a summon phoenix scroll in one of the greenwort shops, which if you then learn makes the earlygame trivial, but it's also possible that no shop will sell great numbers of royal snakes which are some of the best units for the early to midgame, leaving you with the garbage units.
