Building my hollow wooden boards from paulownia and cedar... Local wood. Reclaimed wood is a great way to recicle. Great video!!!

Nice dude! Thanks for the comment. Is the paulownia lighter? And do you use the same technique? Or do you build a frame or something?

@@Dzjiefoilspaulownia, cryptomeria and balsa are the best for surf/sup boards. We have here in Madeira Island and also Açores very nice cryptomeria wood. It's called japanese cedar but it's not cedar. I build my boards framed (insert cedar, cryptomeria between paulownia skins) but as i am growing my own trees i want to do chambered board like that and skip the epoxi/fiber products. A chambered board uses and wastes a lot of wood. Are you going to insert a valve ou just a screw??? Oil finish??? I am trying to get the best recipie yet. I am a big fan of Danny Hess... Can't wait to see the 2nd part 🤙

@@mikefreitas1331 I finished the board with very light fiberglass and epoxy. To make sure it’s watertight. I fitted a vented leashplug.

@@Dzjiefoils ok... got it. Started following you on instagram. Cedar is light and unfortunently tender. Epoxy will make it thougher and heavier, but it's all about performance...

Unreal man, I've got a buddy here (Lemuria Surfboards) who makes hardwood boards. Crazy process, not sure ive got the patience for it 😆 . I've seen some guys modify reciprocating saw blades to fit their jigsaws, they are super long so good for cutting really thick blanks for guns and sups. Might do the trick with wood too! Look forward to the next one!

Thanks dude! Its a very long but rewarding process. It feels a bit better to be working with wood than working with the foamy stuff. A lot les poisonous dust, so I can shape outside etc.
I bought a longer sawblade the day after I cut this outline 🤦🏼‍♂️

@@Dzjiefoils will be handy for the rails… I have a cabinet scraper thats larger and spoke shave that a bit smaller and feels more agile..
Check “nick schade” and how he shapes his canoes…
