I absolutely agree about the jr pass. Unless you're the type of traveler that does 10 cities in 7 days type of travel the jr pass doesn't add up. You'll end up making yourself take train trips to justify the cost. All of my number crunching came back with the jr pass being a rip off.
I 100% agree that the JR pass is not worth it in most case, especialy with the recent increase of october 2023. Now i'm team local pass, and i will go to Japan with than next month for my second trip. Some pass like the Sanyo Sanin Pass are really amazing . Personally, Fushimi inari is the second must see in my list if i've to do one. So i totally understand why it's there. I must say that it's better to visit the place during the evening/night. Unlike most place in Japan, Fushimi inari is open 24/24 and with the light on the night, it's magical! You have nearly noone, i only encounter some older people / lovely couple and the friendly local cats : ) One of the best short hiking i've done in my life and i will 100% redo that next month! Now if i can make one recommandation, it will be my first must see: Miyajima island. It's next to the unfortunaly famous Hiroshima and it was amazing. I definitivly recommand to stay the night. In the evening, the last ferry go away and the streets go empty. You can watch the famous torii gate in the water, with the light of Hiroshima on the horizon, it's amazing! Like Nara, you also have some friendly deer on the island, you can saw them on the beach too! I also have to say that i stay one night here on a ryokan, with onsen and yukata. But even without the pricy ryokan (130€/night but worth it), the island is definitivly worth a visit. I will return here for sure also because i didn't have time to go to the summit of the island. Also don't miss with the food, they have amazing manju called momiji manju. They also do fried oysters but i don't like oysters ^^ I could go on and on with this place, i think you got the idea : ) PS: I will possibly change my mind after my trip next month but these 2 places where so great that i decided to return to bring my friend here (who wheren't with me at my first trip)
Thanks. I will put Miyajima on my to visit list ☺️ I also agree with visiting Fushimi Inari in the evening. I went for sunset and it was perfect with all of the pretty lights once it got dark. I'm sure there are many more amazing places in Japan and I can't wait to explore even more of it 😁 I wish you a great time in Japan!
Wow Hasidera! I came across this temple after following where people were walking from the Great Buddha and loved it as well. Very much a surprise when it popped up on your video and it brought back memories of my 2018 trip! Thank you.
Cool overview! Heading to Japan for 3rd time and still new information here thank you!
Thanks! Enjoy your Japan trip... It's such a beautiful country and there are still so many places I have yet to visit as well 😊
Great video and so helpful with planning!

Yes, I could never see the value in it either, especially if you wanted to stop off frequently on your travels.
Great summary video! We're headed back there in April 2023 for the 3rd time. There's always more to see. 😀
Very informativ video. Thank you so much ❤
