Excellent clip. Needs slightly taller gearing as changing just before line. Try different ratio box or use 18” wheels on front to get you the legs to get through without changing. Should be worth 2/10ths.
my old mk2 was running similar times when i last ran it on road tyres, on drag slicks it was running 10.6's at around 140 mph went 11.67 on MT street et 2's spinning most of the strip
Hello mate. Not sure. Give the owner Carl Goldsmith a shout on FaceBook, or ask on the VWDRC Facebook page, and he will probably answer on there as well.
Not on Ebay they are not :) :) Not sure where Carl got them, but plenty of places to get parts without paying full price, and that includes Used parts.
Cheers mate. Glad you like it. Need to switch things up a bit. Might even have my ugly mug on the channel soon. Will see if I can get some drivers to talk about their cars, as well as have them racing. keep watching :)

@@dredynapietachweza it is a cool build, not mine unfortunately. It was built by one of the VWDRC racers, Carl Goldsmith. I would imagine it was pushing out 400bhp at a guess.
lol, that is done on a budget as well, and still has an open diff and standard crank, pistons and gearbox. I only have a film of one run 9.95 @ 146mph, so I have uploaded it onto my Facebook Page - Veedubracing
I race a fully built gti at sacramento raceway every Wednesday night and i built my car from scratch. And i can tell you right now you have way more then 2000 in that car. In order to hit 10 seconds you need stronger axles, thats 1000 right there, you need a fuel rail and regulator, thats 400 right there, you need drag radials or slicks, thats 500 to 700 right there. You forgot to mention half the stuff needed to build a 10 second gti. And i know this because i built one.
Hi, It was stock 6 speed axles, stock fuel rail with a 4bar FPR (due to the 875 dekas so ~1000cc) the drag slicks were my old ones from my 9 second golf also this was built 4 years back when prices were a little more sensible
@@rype36 nice one 👍 for any more info give the owner a shout on FB, or check out the VWDRC on FB, they love anything VAG, and would be more than happy to answer any questions.
If you think about it it does depend on where you live some places living expenses are higher so stuff will cost more but if living expenses aren't so high in their area everything will be a little cheaper
That is down to you mate, but the cost is the cost. Most parts are bought of eBay and other market places and from other racers, which keeps the cost down. If it blows up, it blows up, just replace. Some people like to race this way.
10.77 1/4 is just epic, such a cool project! Can't wait to get upto Pod next year!

Holset HX40 Turbo (Used on Mk2 Golf) - £50
Great price
I think it was used about 3 years ago on his Mk2 . Sold for £50, and then bought back.
Need to put a 1.8 T in to my mk2 golf
I can tell how loud it is through the phone... that is one hell of a sharp, raspy sound😈
What sort of quarter would this set up be likely to do with road tyres say R888s or similar
I don't know mate, it still has a std open diff, so I suppose the slicks are making a big difference

Impressive cost for that engine! Over here in Canada that would cost 10x more!
Hi bro. Great video. Please advise me. My golf 1.8 t agu got 550 horsepower. What modification of the 6-speed transmission should I install?
Is there any more details on the car?? Does it run e85? Sidewinder manifold?? Proper exhaust or screamer? Open diff?
Hopefully Carl will see this and answer. I know it still has an open diff and a fabricated straight through pipe for an exhaust.
Perfect video !!
Cheers mate.
I wish my golf left the line like that! 1.8T are still one of the best engines and with a little money you can make them powerful.
Talking about keeping your 1.8t b5 or going br6 turbo
Lol, the ending
Haha
Someone looked happy 😂
Nice !! What type of exhaust manifold and housing are you running?
