Makes me wish every light/gear review was like this - actually showing it being practically used and all the range you can get from it. Great video and lots of charm to it!

Great video! Glad the TH-cam algorithm showed me this. I don’t think I’ll be buying this light, as I have more powerful ones, but it’s cool to see how lighting is getting more portable while still packing a punch. Good work, man!
@@ScottJeschke this style of review is definitely more creative, and quite enjoyable to watch. Composition, color grading, music, etc. Keep up the good work 🔥
Just found 1 of your video and start binge watching videos on the channel! Definitely one of my favorite channel, glad to found your channel before 2023 ends 🙌🏻
Ayy! Finally someone posting the movies! Great films. I Still gotta see Fantastic Mr Fox. It's so tough to pick three but I'd probably say Raiders of the Lost Ark, Fellowship of the Ring, E.T. thanks for the kind feedback!
I already own this light but this has to be the best review video I've ever seen and would absolutely be sold by it. Spoke volumes in the high quality of shots and cinematography, the diverse range of practical applications shown were not only practical but well executed. Much prefer this format to a "regular" review. PS the motivated light/outdoor patio scene was magic. What a great use of a simple setup. Amazing work dude

Thanks man! Amazing work. Some of your question is blocked by a video card, but I think my answer still stands as Sicaro, skyfall, and the cinematic masterpiece super troopers. How about your top three?
You're the first! Oh man, I love Skyfall. That's a fave for me. Annual watch. Top three is hard, but probably 1. Raiders of the Lost Ark, 2. Lord of the Rings and... 3.E.T. ? So hard.
Really digging the style of your reviews Scott! I really love how small and portable this light looks. Something that would be perfect to have for a few travel jobs that I've got coming up.
Thanks, so much, Ben! Yeah, man. The advancement and innovation even in the past couple years w these lights is wild. Such a perfect travel light. It's like a 120d that fits in a carry on.
Man scott i love you soo much :) you are such a great inspiration to me i want to be a film maker and want to color grade as you do i want make cinematic short films as you do, you are truly one of a kind i never want you to stop. I love this aesthetic and this video style soo much. Thank you for everything ❣️
Wow. Too kind. Thank you so much for this encouragement. I'm so glad my videos are connecting with you and inspiring. Keep after it 🙏🙏. All I know is practice. practice. practice.
@@selamentor, I don't know the fuji system, but my friends love it. I think the A74, the FX30, Sony A6700, and the Sony A7CII are all good 1300-2200 USD 10bit log cameras if you end up in the sony ecosystem. Two are APSC, the other two are full frame. If I were to get a B cam today I'd probably get an FX30
Thanks so much! I recently upgraded to the Apple M2 Max, 64GB, 2TB. It's plenty fast, but don't believe the hype from TH-cam. PCs are wayy faster. It meets all my needs though and i've been really happy with it for the price.
It's such a fun light! I think the mini softbox doesn't replace a big softbox by any means. But I found it useful for faking hard light in closeups. So if you had like a hard window source, and then moved in for a close up, it would be a happy medium of looking harder and natural, but also being soft enough for a face. I also thought it was useful in the night exteriors. The reflector was just too harsh and sourcey. I typically bounce for night exteriors, but the mini softbox was nice for some of those medium long shots where it's supplementing practical lamps. So i guess the short answer is it's a nice to have, but it's use cases are very different from a bigger softbox -- at least i found
Definitely would be enough. Although I don't think for every situation. For competing w big conference room windows I think a more powerful light is useful. Because this one needs to be around 100% and it gets really hot
What LUT or grading do you use or how are you exposing your scene i love how your footage looks. I really wanna learn how to consistently achieve this look & i just cant figure it out
Thanks! I made an SLOG 3 to Arri Log C 3 LUT + A Film Vision II LUT+ Grading + Dehancer for halation, gate weave, breathing etc. I expose at 0:0 on my meter give or take 1 stop depending on how dark I want the shot. I don't do the expose to the right thing anymore. Just expose to whatever LUT I'm displaying on the monitor, whether it's rec 709 or something custom. On the FX3 the internal rec 709 is actually pretty darn good for exposure. I used to use the Phantom LUT but it would always screw up my exposure.
Typically anywhere from 30-70 hrs haha. I do pre-pro. Usually I do music and script first. If it's testing like this one I will map out those beats on the script, then write the actual dialogue after I have filmed the beats. Some of them I shot list too
