I think you were looking for the word "premonition," or a strong feeling that something is about to happen, especially something unpleasant. Brother, the first time I listened to this album, it gave me the same feeling. Not a creeping feeling, but a feeling that you're being absorbed by it. Great music tends to do that.
Spot on. This album off rip DEMANDS your attention and absorbs you, you just have no choice but to close your eyes and vibe. And idk about you but once I realized the lyrics when I spinned the block on most of the songs? This was hands down top 2 albums I heard in 2010’s, currents and blonde by frank ocean fxcked me up respectfully 🫡
The old vibe you be talking about is the psychedelic part. You know, their tripy effects and instrumentation. Psychedelic music - specifically psychedelic rock - was very popular in the 60's. Tame Impala is known as the king of modern psychedelia for combining psychedelic rock with a modern sound. There's a whole wave of modern psychedelic artists, but Tame Impala is the best of them all. Top tier. In fact, when I got into collecting records in 2015, that year, as I was starting out, knowing how expensive records were, and still in college and not having a regular paying job yet, I limited myself to buying my top two albums of that year on vinyl. It was this one and "Sound & Color" by Alabama Shakes, another one I think you will love. As a drummer myself I am really addicted to the drums on "Currents". They are so tight and punchy. They slap! Btw, all the instruments and vocals are made by one guy. Literally every single part of each song. He has more of a band when he performs live, but studio wise every part is him.
@ it’s actually music that people in the 60’s and 70’s would take drugs to. The kind of music perfect for a “trip” as they refer to taking drugs. But it’s good music even if you don’t take drugs. I listen to the trippiest psychedelic music that you’d assume I’ve done LOTS of acid, but no, I’ve been 100% drug and smoke and drink free my entire life.
@ idk. Tame Impala mixes more electronics which I love. Psychedelic music is usually more rock based, like they mainly play with the guitars and keys and such. Really distort the guitars and make them grainy and go wild on the keys. Idk about better or worse. They all equally have their own psychedelic lanes.
@ There are many different styles of psychedelic music. I mean, you could name any genre and add “psychedelic” at the beginning and come up with trippy music within that specific genre.
this is my fave album in the entire world. Literally listen to nearly every day. I soo appreciate how you enjoyed the story of it 😭 got me sooo excited to listen through your eyes.
As much as Let It Happen is my fave out of the album, I’m so glad to see someone loving Eventually as much as I did! This song is truly underrated and hits so deep every time 🥹 Thanks a lot for this reaction video!
This is the best album of all time and this is not my genre. This is just a timeless masterpiece that will never be forgotten mark my words! First time I heard this album I was floored and I still am many years later. It actually gets bettet. The album is so cohesive and well done in all categories. God bless Kevin Parker!
YOOOOO personally, I'm a huge tame impala fan, I would TOTALLY recommend his album "The Slow Rush". Anyways, awesome vid and ur def getting me as a subscriber.
Loket, the people need you to complete the other two Tame Impala albums. Currents is an absolute masterpiece but Lonerism and The Slow Rush are great as well.
Pretty sure Love/paranoia is about him finding out his girl has been cheating, that's what the buildup is about (him checking her phone to see the messages she's been sending another guy) The album is a concept album about a relationship breaking apart as Kevin wrote it after he broke up with his ex girlfriend. There isn't a full and complete story but it's all about the same thing generally
@@cameronfrye8311 I think in the song he says he’s paranoid and checks the phone and there ends up being nothing. That’s why he says he’s the phoney one the only one with a problem, because she didn’t do nothing wrong lol
What a joy it is to watch someone experience Let It Happen and Eventually for the first time :,) Ugh what a joy! Also Tame Impala did everything himself on this album! Very talented artist.
This album is so fire bro because he’s going through the motions of a breakup- trying to fix it- saying he don’t need, them bouncing like “wait i miss her” then ultimately checking himself like “I gotta stop going for the same type of person” w that song “same person ol mistakes” which is my personal fav. Kevin Parker incorporates so many genres on this album, that ppl like Travis Scott was hitting him up for beats. This is Kevin Parker’s group, he went over every beat and tweaked it too his liking which is why this masterpiece was birthed. He helped me heal through my breakup w this album. I am forever grateful and I’m glad you helped me relive this 🤧 thank you fam
I used to be sad and frustrated that Daft Punk broke up because I thought I'd never hear music that would make me feel the same way again Then I discovered Tame Impala
I love finding people enjoying music that you know you really enjoy as well and seeing how they feel to the music. I remember finding this able from Childish Gambino's trailer for Atlanta in 2016 and hearing New Person, Same Old Mistakes in the trailer I was like what is this joint playing in this trailer?? And thats when I found this song and album to Tame Impala. Currents was what album I was listening to then and then a lot more in 2021 and It was a whole 'nother experience to the music I hard back then and hearing it now years on later, but yeah can't go wrong with some Tame Impala music is just a whatever vibe you are trying to feel at that time of whatever you are trying to feel lol!
I discovered Tame Impala right after a break up. It was the summer that the DLCs for Battlefield 1 were released. I'll always remember the moment I first heard Yes I'm Changing and The Less I know The Better because I was totally absorbed by that game while listening to my spotify for you playlist and they come on both altered the biological vibrational make up of my being😂
Yes I'm changing and eventually together is like most not depressing beats with the most depressed lryics ong bro after broke up this feels even harder
Your reaction to the big cutout on, “Eventually”, is siiick, man haha. Been trying to find someone lose their shit to that as much as I have & did, back when I was just *BUMPING* this song likes crazy in the past haha.
FYI the story of Past Life isn’t about his ex. It’s about his friend(that he liked) when he was in school. Also the one he called at the end was his now current wife.
Oh also if you check out Middle 8’s video of the album it’ll put the songs in order. It shows. All the stages he went through. And Past Life is when he moved on and met his childhood friend.
The less i know the better lyrics are wrong? Isn't it (and makes more sense to be) "when i heard they slept together" etc (intially i thought it was "when i thought they slept together" which also don't make sense.
There's like a half second of delay from Spotify and from your mic audio which is sooo mildly infuriating. Great reaction though, I'm glad you re-uploaded this one.
You would also like Lil Yachty's Let's Start Here album. both Currents and that album are modern psychedelic electronic masterpiece albums. Great reaction!
