Excellent review! As a self proclaimed CZ fanboy, I have owned and carried both of these firearms. The CZ P01 is my favorite by far, and is my current carry gun.
I always thought it would be nice if CZ made a alloy frame & grip panels for the p-07. I would for sure get one if they did. I have a stock Omega with nice grips. I'm thinking of getting the P-01 compact version & fully customizeing it with a red dot.
Had a P01 Cajunized. Sold it to buy a HK P30s. Great gun for what it is, but it was no CZ. CZ Shot flatter, better trigger, felt more ballanced and less chunky even though they are about the same weight. Got a chance to trade it for a CZ P01 Omega, and I have no regrets in going back. I think this will be a forever gun. Now to cajunize it again.
I really like the P07 and if I hadn’t wound up with an FNX9 I likely would have acquired one. It has a very good safety/decocker that is easier for me to reach than the CZ safety. The P07 is pretty good value. If I were in the market for a new CZ for carry though I would get a CZ75 compact. I prefer the trimmer rail free dust cover. One in 40 might make me “in the market” 😉
Maybe try the extended firing pin from cgw. That might help with the light primer strikes from the lighter spring. I believe that’s what they recommended
Having owned both, I found the trigger on the P-01 to be much better than the P-07. The P-07 has a mushier trigger, but it is a better combat trigger than any of my HKs. And P-01 mags function properly in the P-07. The reason for the change in mags was for increase in capacity while maintaining a flush fit. The first gen P-07s came with 16rd flush fit mags, but they were unreliable, so they brought it down to 15rd. I know the newer CZ75 compacts ship with the 15rd MecGar mags, rather than the standard 14rd compact mags.
@@fin_jan No, my P-01 was the standard decocker model. My P-02 was a first gen Omega, but the trigger was not a mushy as my P-07s were. It is likely the polymer vs aluminum frame that sets them apart in trigger feel.
@@ventilator2999 As with the P-01 mags, they will run, but the I wouldn't use them for anything more than range time. Since they are skinnier than the P-07 mags, they can just drop out of the grip because they have less contact with the mag release.
I was looking through the gun counter at one of the local stores here and there was a P-01 there. It was smaller than I expected it to be and I want it.
After years of not making any handgun purchases I decided to pick up two last year. As it’s an infrequent occurrence for me I really do my research, look at everything and take a lot of time before laying down the $$. I ended up getting the P01 Omega and a P07. I had been carrying a Sig245 and a SA Campion Operator but these will be my daily carry guns going forward.
Cut my teeth shooting revolvers, and I've always enjoyed DA/SA semi-autos as the next logical step. The CZ-75B will always be my favored "wonder nine."
The current production P07/09 mags and P10C/10F mags are now compatible. Sound decision to keep costs down on their polymer-framed line, plus most en masse buyers now prefer lighter pistols. I agree with the Toyota & Lexus analogy. Most of CZ's handguns have "NATO" service versions. In other countries the P07 is much more affordable (albeit practical) and available than the P01 with an alloy frame (steel frame, SA is much more common) I'd get the P01 Omega (alloy frame) first if I'd find one though.
Love both. But the P07 is my preference. I owned the 75 compact but traded it in for the p01 as it was a bit heavy to carry all the time being a steel frame. But, did not think I would automatically fall in love with my p07 from the moment I held it
No imagination. Steel frame is heavier than polymer. My po7 has tlr1hl and green dot. Isn't as heavy as that 75 compact. Annoying heavy little thing. So, ide have to disagree with you on your assessment.
It took several double-strikes yes. I was using reloaded ammo made with really a random assortment of ancient primers. Both functioned 100% with factory ammo, but I didn't have any for this video. It took several magazines to get through a single full magazine from the P-01 and by the time I shot the P-07 I only had one magazine left so I just had to go with the video with the misfires for that gun. Nowadays prices for reloading supplies have gotten nuts enough that for me handloading 9mm no longer makes sense, so future videos will be factory ammo whenever possible.
@@tinkertalksguns7289 mostly because I already have the omega in the p07. I’ve taken it apart and put some parts in. I like the gun a lot don’t get me wrong, but what I’ve seen from people taking apart the non omegas is that they seem a little better built, and might be a bit smoother. Probably can’t go wrong either way though
Love my P-01 except, terrible sights, nasty rubber grips, and mine has the absolutely horrible bitting hooked trigger. Had it Cajunized and now a sweet shooter.
They actually both have most of the same modified trigger components; The P-01 has only one modification that the P-07 lacks so they really are quite comparable. I think I make it clear these are both great and very equivalent pistol. My preference for the P-01 has nothing to do with the overall quality and capability of the guns.
@@tinkertalksguns7289 You made it clear that the P-01 has an after-market hammer "which makes the trigger a little nicer." I think that qualifies. Both seem to be very nice and I would probably be happy with either, but I was looking for an out-of-the-box comparison.
@@DanielMartinez-lz3ot hat's reasonable. Unfortunately I didn't have access to out-of-the-box guns for a direct comparison. I usually just have to go with what's available to me.

It's too hot in the shop to turn it off completely; a sweat-stained shirt and dripping sweat aren't a good look. Sorry, I know the sound is intrusive, but it helps the video get made. :(
Thanks for picking a winner. I've watched too many review videos when at the end the verdict was, " you decide "

I’d really like a P01 but I do have the p10c and the p07 and I’m glad the magazines are interchangeable.
Thank you for this! I shot an 07 yesterday and fell in love with it. I appreciate the breakdown of pros and (not many) cons. Definitely subscribed!

Does your P-01 have the Omega trigger? I would have thought they were the same in both pistols.

Do it. The CZ compacts are in a class of their own. But be warned it wont be your last CZ.

The P-01 is one of the most beautiful guns ever produced. However, it's slide profile is FAR MORE difficult to rack than the P-07. I love my P-07

Did you have an issue with the trigger starting around 0:19 in the video or was it a flinch?

Would have been nice if they used the same magazines so that I didn’t have to buy so many before the WA ban went into effect.
Exactly my situation.
What's with the weird trigger action with the P-07 in the beginning of the video??
I had to re-strike a cartridge or two; I had some dodgy eastern European primers./

P01 is $625 in a gun store in CA
I am looking at the P01 omega But these two are interesting to any thoughts can you help me what would you recommend
