  • This is how to removing window screens from a side sliding storm windows
    1. Unlock and slide open the interior window all the way open
    2. Slide the storm window glass sash all the way open
    3. First free the top of the screen. While applying a small amount of pressure sideways on the screen frame with your fingers on the top left corner, closest to the middle of the window, release some tension on the screen as you retract the plastic spring retainer located in the top right corner to free the top. With the retainer retracted the top corner will tilt in towards you.
    4. Then free the bottom just the same. While applying a small amount of pressure sideways on the screen frame with your fingers on the bottom left corner, closest to the middle of the window, release some tension on the screen then retract the plastic spring retainer located in the bottom right corner to free the top. With the retainer retracted the bottom corner will tilt in towards you.
    5. PRO TIP: The plastic spring retainers are brittle and can break so just be careful and in most cases, you need to keep these retracted to clear the inside of the wood window.
Next, gently slide the screen away from the middle of the window. There are pegs on the top and the bottom of the left side of the frame, the opposite side of the spring retainers, that are holding the frame in that are not visible. To clear these, you tilt or rotate the top to the right to get the top pin to clear the window track, and then the bottom will come right out.

How do you repair a screen with damage in one corner of the screen? This would be on a vertical type storm window where the windows slide up or down.
Removing the screen is not a problem, I have done this before for cleaning, but how does one repair the damaged screen itself. On corner was damaged fro a dog clawing the screen. Thanks.
