Jeff, I have a Studio with a swamp ash body and matte maple neck and love it. I love the assertiveness of the sound. It’s the perfect balance between “in your face” and “polite”. Love the channel!
Jeff you always get a great tone - it doesn’t matter what guitar you’re playing - you always dial-it-in! Even through the inter-tube! I love watching all the new gear buys and pedal board configurations - admittedly I like expensive things - it doesn’t make me a better player, but it does inspire me to play!!
Beautiful and fantastic sounding guitar. Just got one in Cobalt Blue. The trem is very smooth and stays in tune really well. I like the 58/15 LT bridge pickup too. Bright and articulate. Thanks for the great video.
Hey Jeff, I found your channel recently. I'm really enjoying your content. You have such a great approach. I've already learned quite a bit from you. keep up the great work!
If you like the Narrowfield pups, you might really like the NF3. It has three of these pups. I have a '13 with Maple neck and fretboard. Body korina. Sounds great, plays great.
I play bass. A few months ago I had the opportunity to try a PRS bass from their overseas series. Great instrument! Great feel! Great quality for the money. I’m mostly a Fender/ Gibson/ Ernie Ball MusicMan person. I love vintage looking instruments. Although the PRS too has a ‘modern classis’ shape, this one did look a little too modern/ heavy metal(ish) for me, but that might be because of it’s colour: black. I guess I could easily fall in love with a PRS bass like that in gold metallic or vintage white. Great instruments! 🖖
Haha Jeffff...!!!!...you knew i was coming in on this....haa....love your new prs.....looks very nice and sounds it too...great stuff...like your taste for the flame and colour...and yes 10"radius is i'd say the most playable r of all...Fender 7,5 ok....Gibson 122...bit flat....maybe the 10" just feels so good and "right" that gives you that Feeling "at home" on prs.......and yes...maybe one day i'll sell my Tele...Strat...Sire H7...Gibson SG i mean...we can't play them all....i just spend 2 weeks setting them all up again...haha....cheers.....+ loved you getting up to close the window....damn neighbours....we've got a cockrel crowing all day here...!!( country life here)....
Just got a Modern Eagle V. Can get Strat and LP sounds without switching guitars. Critical for my current band. Surprised how good they are. Very consistent.
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day Jeff also l have a stomach ache also a stomach flu ❤❤❤❤❤❤ also tomorrow is my oldest sister birthday 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hi Jeff, have you heard of the new pickups by the maker of Alameda guitars? Their called Offkiltertron and one pickup gives you six different unique sounds. Your PRS sounds fantastic. What amp are you using?
Flaws used to really bother me. After discovering some fantastic Fender CS Relics, which I used to hate, I found that my definition of flaws changed. If the guitar sounds great, feels great, plays great, but has a small finish flaw or something that doesn't really affect the guitar as an instrument, it's just not as important as having a perfect looking guitar that isn't a great guitar. I'd rather have the great guitar!! Same with color. I may have a preference, but I find that if the guitar is great that most of the time the color will grow on me (unless it's really ugly-lol).
Hey! It’s fine thickness wise they are in the same ballpark. Ultimately I think I prefer the slightly narrower but of the dgt but this is totally comfortable.
Yes! I have two DGTs and love them also. The narrow field pickups on the Studio are fantastic. I just got a PRS NF53 yesterday. It has narrowfield pickups voiced for a Tele style guitar.
Look for the flaws when you are first trying the guitar. Don't look for faults when you've got it at home, they will become obvious, but because we are perfectionists, surely you expect that.
PRS guitars are the best looking, best made, best marketed guitars ever in my opinion. I’ve owned two, and went to guitar center to play 5 of their wood library guitars with the intention of buying one. They have to be the most uninspiring, tone dead guitars I’ve ever played. I grabbed a 450 dollar guitar off the wall after playing the P RS guitars and everyone in the room said that guitar sounds infinitely better than all those PRS guitars. I want to love them but can’t.
@@JeffMcErlain I in no way meant that as no one should purchase their guitars. They are beautiful and I love looking at them. However in my circle of local club playing guitars players everyone is in pretty much the same agreement. Much better sounding guitars. Suhr, Anderson just to name a couple, but there are many more.
Jeff .. you do not have to rationalize it you do not have to justify it. You are an adult. you only have to ask yourself one thing. Do you love it? That is all counts!

Enjoyed hearing your PRS with the Blues! Different and good!
Thanks! It’s a great guitar.

One of my other favorite TH-camrs has plenty of guitars, but I always know its going to be good when he breaks out his PRS studio. Consistently good.
Oh cool!

Congratulations on the new guitar!!

Thank you very much!
If Robben plays a signature PRS, I think it’s ok for blues ;)
Really love this video..very informative.
Thanks!

Bah, I missed this one. Nice one Jeff! Looks almost the same as the Studio I have. :) Great guitar - love it!
Great minds my friend…
I play bass.

Nice one Jeff. Sounds great, makes sense.
Thanks buddy!

Sounds great! That’s the PRS I’m most interested in as well. Glad it’s not 24 frets. I can’t abide the tonal change in the neck pickup.
Great minds.
The Studio is such a great guitar.
Agreed!
Just got a Modern Eagle V. Can get Strat and LP sounds without switching guitars. Critical for my current band. Surprised how good they are. Very consistent.
Awesome!!
Most consistent for absolute craftmanship and playability - Collings, PRS, Suhr.
I endorse this comment.
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day Jeff also l have a stomach ache also a stomach flu ❤❤❤❤❤❤ also tomorrow is my oldest sister birthday 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Oh no! I hope you feel better and wish your sister a happy birthday!

Not familiar with them! That is a fractal FM9 using a JTM45 patch.
McCarty burst is one of my favorites. It's hard not to like it.

I just want to thank you for being a bad influence on me. I picked up a DGT SE yesterday. I have watched many of your videos and really enjoy them.
Forgot to mention, bolt on (more snap), quartersawn maple neck without scarf joint, PRS trem. I think you would love it!!
Thanks I’ll check it out!
Did you sell the dgt pick ups ? Been searching another set of them
What about the signature Michael Tuttle you were working on?
Actually we are making some guitars but really more vintage spec!
Your trips to Watchtower Guitars are getting expensive Jeff!
Congratulations on the new guitar day!
This was horse trading. Buy-sell-trade.
I’ll buy your Germanium Tumnus! 👍🏻
Ha! Let’s not go crazy here…
Sounds great Jeff. How do you find the slightly different neck dimensions compared to the DGT
?
Hey! It’s fine thickness wise they are in the same ballpark. Ultimately I think I prefer the slightly narrower but of the dgt but this is totally comfortable.
I think the Studio is my favorite PRS.
It’s really nice isn’t it?

Why didn’t you choose a Pensa Shur MKII?
Cuz I got this? 😂🤷🏻♂️ Lots of great guitars out there.
Strange but i just can’t connect with prs guitars. Could be the best in the world but impossible to bound with them.
Would you ever buy Private stock
Yes!

Interesting, my experience with PRS has not been that anymore than it is with any other brand. The two I own are anything but dead and uninspiring.

The equation to how many guitars you need is N + 1 guitars.
N being the number of guitars you currently own.
this equals the perfect equation.....
I own a prs and its wonderful. But it doesn't have the balls of my 74 lp
It’s a different guitar!
@@JeffMcErlainso true!
Haha the flaw in the guitar .. I thought that’s just me doin that to my self
Ha! Definitely not just you.
Picking up a Collings guitar in a music store is an expensive mistake.
Ha!
Actually sounds better than any Gibson or Strat you've played on the channel and I am not a PRS fanboy
Interesting!!!
Jeff .. you do not have to rationalize it you do not have to justify it. You are an adult. you only have to ask yourself one thing.
Do you love it?
That is all counts!
Ha! Sure. Just going through the mental machinations! My rules are:
Is it great?
Can I afford it?
DGT & McCarty > every other PRS.
Just sayin... 😁👌
I know nothing…😔
Not very “Stratty” sounding from here
Which is why I got it!
Will there one day be a JM PRS?
Ask them!!!
