Nice review thanks. One thing that I’d like watch reviewers to do more is compare the nominal power reserve to the actual. It’s usually a bit more, for example I tested my 057 to have 44h39m52s of power after fully wound and left alone.
Great video. Thank you. All you have said about this watch is true. I have this watch. It is of such good value... no, great value. Undoubtedly comparable to the Rolex Day-Date but of course in typical Seiko fashion, at just a fraction of the price. Excellent movement, lovely attention to finish detail. It ticks all the boxes.
Name a modern language who's alphabet ISN'T borrowed from somewhere else. You may as well say that a day complication that says "Mon"... "Tue".. "Wed"... is in Latin. Because English is based on a Latin alphabet. He's not sort of correct. It's a different language. Willy was correct in making the distinction.
I have and had several Seikos incl. JDM models...4R35 and 6R15 movements...to get a accurate movement is pure luck...my SARG011 was even off spec from the factory, since it was way to slow...my Diastar was fast almost 45 s/d...no great results. I had several Orients which all had been regulated very well from the factory.
Couple of dislikes on this watch: 1. The chapter ring is much wider than sarb033; 2. The hour indices are pushed inwards instead of outwards; there's large gap between the chapter ring and the hour indices. 3. The minute and seconds hands are a bit too short compared to sarb033. Just my two cents.
Its a good watch for the money if can be found sub US$275. However, I have to agree on the comment's above, especially on item 1 and 2. These were the exact same thought's when I first looked at this watch. I'd choose the Sarb based on the dial design, but there is a price difference. This could've been a home-run winner if 40mm case, with the hourly markers brought in closer to the chapter ring. I just think dress watches should be 40mm or less, as it looks a bit loud to me wearing a watch of this style in this size. Also the Sary has those cheap looking pressed metal clasps (where opened).
Absolutely beautiful watch. Thank you for this video. I personally prefer radio/GPS kinds of watches which subscribe to similar elegant aesthetics. Those GPS/atomic watches are being more precise and robust than the mechanicals out there.
Just bought a SARX033 over the comparable SARY055 based mainly on the bracelet and especially the milled clasp which is far nicer on the SARX than the SARY....with that said I still am thinking of purchasing a SARY057.......until I handle a SARY model in person, I have to say the price premium for the SARX over the SARY is not clear cut. Would gladly pay an extra $100 for a SARY that had an improved clasp and SEL and you would still be FAR underneath the $830 price I paid Seiya for my SARX033.
This watch is gorgeous. I just got mine and just cant stop looking at it.
I have one SARY053 just like this one but It has an Open Heart, very amazing! I wanna get SARY057 too. This watch form is really really fit my hand
I am very pleased with mine and all my seiko watches
Sorry if I missed it in the video but what’s your wrist diameter? It’s nice to know for reference because it fits your wrist perfectly

Thanks - very thorough review. Good sharp picture too which shows off the watch well.

Love your enthusiasm. Looks like an incredible watch for the price. Thanks for sharing
NICE WATCH MY MAN
The day complication is in kanji (Japanese) not Chinese.
I was thinking the same thing, but since kanji is adopted from Chinese characters, so he's sort of correct.

I'm talking about characters, not language. Google kanji and educate yourself.
LOL ! Ok, Sparky...
Adopted or not kanji is kanji, not chineseee
I love this watch I have the 056 but no sir the clasp on the sary is garbage. Stamped steel at this price point it should absolutely be milled.
You can get everything in a Hamilton khaki king for $300-350

Basicaly same looking watches. I'd choose the sarb if it weren't too small

The bracelet is Blah compared to the SARX models
As it should be being less expensive.
