Thank you, so very much for this background. Gunsmoke was /is my favorite show. I was only 6 when it was cancelled, but was given just as good of a show with The Macahans/How the West was Won, for several years thereafter. Always the best characters and stories. Nothing on T.V. comes close to this, nowadays. Thank GOD for the internet and retro-tv channels. They were all good people as well as good actors, and Ken Curtis was, perhaps, the most overlooked talent.
I enjoyed most the episodes Ken Curtis appeared in as Festus Haggen before he became a regular. He had an edge that seemed to disappear after that. But I still enjoyed his character. There were times when that edge reappeared. You knew he would always have Matt's back.
Gunsmoke had the best cast of actor & actresses of any show as far as I'm concerned James Arness Amanda Blake Ken Curtus Milburn Stone Buck Taylor Burt Reynolds Dennis Weaver & the one who played Thad , never will be any like them! They made Gunsmoke plus the other guest actors who came on the show ! Best western TV show as far as I'm concerned ! 👍👍

I saw Ken Curtis years ago as Festus performing at the Rutland fair, he sang old cowboy songs and told jokes and stories. One story that comes to mind is, how an uncle of his after spending too much time at the long Branch came home a little confused and missed the house completely and ended up in the pig pen snuggle up with a old sow. While rubbing her belly thinking he was in his own bed he made a comment on how he didn't recall a double row of buttons on his wife's night gown.

He just gets ready to tell us about his twin brother and it's cut off 🤨
Sorry about the editing and some audio, it was the first time using this new software.
There was one he killed someone and ran as a fugitive.cause he didn't want Dillon to have to do it.a great episode.felt like he put his heart in to it n someways.like it!
Little known fact: Ken Curtis who played Festus was a great singer.
Anyone know who the actress was at 9:30? She was freaking gorgeous.
La serie se trasmitió doblada al español haya por los años 70. Vuelva la a trasmitir en nuestro idioma. Gracias
Annother thing I 'll never forgive the german tv to cut down the role and the importance of Ken Curtis and killed it with a german voice from Donald Duck in heavy hoarse measure. I love Rauchende Colts and Matt Dillon shoot every time fast and with accuracy. Best regards.
I watch gunsmoke since I can't even remember I was born in 64 it's so odd to see Ken Curtis act like his self yes all actors do but he is so different it's just incredible you got to listen to him sing
I heard him sing many times, and even in the 60s while he was on "Gunsmoke" as Festus. th-cam.com/video/jCy654qYlzE/w-d-xo.html
The cut the first interchange with Festus and Marshall Dillon. Matt asked him why he was in the barn and Festus replied that he was trying to decide whether or not to shoot him.
Loved to see when Matt backhand some one who smarted off ….
i aint here for music, I'm balin out at 3:27
It's a very nice visual synopsis from the great Calvin Clements. Thanks for posting. Do you remember Robert Totten?
Yes I do, Vin. he directed a few "Gunsmoke" episodes and he was in the episode when he was on of Festus's best friend who struck it rich from a gold mine. He was good.
What is this music playing so loudly that it prevents me from understanding things.
I think every big name did Gunsmoke at least once. Heck, the wicked witch of the west did Gunsmoke, Margaret Hamiltion.
Festus was cook like that, some of his sayings just tickle me,watch him and The Marshall everrry night!
Always worried about the marshal.....he spent entirely too much time with Chester while Miss Kitty obviously wished to have a pillow fight !
Not to mention some "Bedstead Bounce!" 😁
Was that killer Uncle Jesse from Dukes of Hazzard?
Yes, his name is Denver Pyle
I wondered when Matt and Festus rode together hunting down a fugitive if Ruth could keep up with Matt's horse.
Por favor dolen al español esta serie es magnífica. Gracias
