The mounted bands were absolutely superb. How they can balance on the horse and play is beyond me. As a former serviceman and bandsman, I can only salute all of them.

Thank you, appreciate the comments. The shoulder is going to take a long time to heal properly but some of the movements getting quite a bit easier now thankfully.
Wonder if it's to reduce amount of standing for the troops re poss fainting esp in last years heat on the day was anything to go by. This year at this rate might need umbrellas though.
@@MC1968Cathy I think this is the case too. They all arrive at the same time under this new format, so no one is standing still longer than anyone else, and all for less time too. Smart idea, and it looks interesting. Always nice to see what minor spin they put on it each year, every year there's some minute logistics detail different and it's always interesting to try and spot.

I often watch the Micks March that they used for the quick march past a few years ago, jaunty lifts the mood 😀

I heard he was retiring after the Coronation but it seems they cannot do without him.....as he was spotted in red tunics etc during the inspections a few days go...he is from the days of the 6' plus Guardsmen.....

Thank you. I enjoyed that. Great exhibition of Marching and Deportment from the massed bands during the first 25minutes under control of SDM Chambers. One Drum Horse was almost in time with the music with its front feet. Beautifully groomed animals. The five bands combined for the return is a real spectacle.All looking good in No1 tunics..
Excellent rehearsal by the Household Division but the King allowing beard growth, not a good look maybe on the pipers looks fine, changing times I guess.
Just wondering if you had any suggestions for spots to watch the major generals review, first time doing the trooping the colour stuff so any intel will help! oh and great video as always.
In any case, a place with enough space to move/walk and close enough, with a good overview. No places where you get stuck. And an opportunity to closely follow and record the entire event.
If you want to follow the bands etc. then you need to be on the park side as you will have issues crossing Marlborough Road on St James’s Palace side. If you want to just choose one spot I would suggest the corner of The Mall and Marlborough Road on St James’s side to get good views. Or my favourite was at the top of The Mall by the Duke of York’s statue, from there you can get the bands coming straight for you as they leave Horse Guards.
I noticed that the horses horses were a little unruly until the music fired up & they really settled. Not sure whether the Coldstream Guards trumpet player, the one with the beard & had been on an all nighter as he was certainly in rag order, when he was not tripping, playing with his music sheets lowering his instrument he was only going through the motions to playing when he raised it to his mouth! I’ll give him the benefit of suffering the the after affects of a long & arduous parade!!
Hello, I don't think the overall width of the Drumhead has changed, the Drums Depth has slightly become shallower, from what I can see from an old picture of a Kettle Drum used in the 1990s. But, the Drums have become more simpler, no ornate engraving, or Cyphers. The Tensioning rods have also become much simpler. They also were not carrying the Drum Banners which is another factor that makes these Kettle Drums appear larger.
It sounds very good throughout this video; however , I hope that those who have forgotten remember to SHAVE for His Majesty on his Parade- this looks very bad & SCRUFFY!
