  • In this play through we explore the power of Polaris and her ability to manipulate orbs on the battle mat. We are met with quite the challenge with Cinder. Using Too Many Bones Unbreakable Lava Mechanic this once Krelin Tyrant cannot take damage while lava is on the field. This proves to be a very tricky mechanic especially in true solo. #toomanybones #tabletopgaming #boardgames #sologameplay

    I just found your channel today and this is awesome! Love the camera work and crisp editing to minimize downtime. If I could make one suggestion - the music is kind of loud in comparison to your talking. I hear both at the same level and would love to have the music more in the background. Thanks for all your work making these videos!

      Really appreciate your kind words. Totally agree on the music. I have learned the levels I hear on the edit and what come out on the export seemed different. I hope I have fixed the issue recently. Still learning all this on the fly. Just trying to get a little better each video. Any game you really hyped on right now or are coming out soon?

    At 9:15 Polaris got KOed. You should have taken 2 Damage from the Poison #2 then ticked it down to #1.
    See ref sheet for Poison... Target Takes True Damage equal to the effect die # at the start of it's turn. After applying DMG reduce the effect die by 1.
    Easy to make mistakes wrt TMB. Incidentally you can take advantage that counter intuitively #1 poison will overwrite #2 poison when you can manipulate turn order so you get a #2 reduced to#1 before you character turn.

      @@Neon_Gorilla Yeah sorry :( .. funny how we can all make a mistake early and keep doing it because we think we know :P
      BTW you only Loose Atk Dice to Break if you actually apply the damage.. which you don't have to (usually only Red skill icons are mandatory to apply) . So you can roll for bones or wait until you get a good 2 roll to finish off a Break Baddie. Breaks not too bad TBH as you have a number of ways to deal with it.. I usually add a skill early that can deal with Break.. worst case is Fatigue rounds and/or wait for a good roll to apply.
      Also you can only roll Atk Dice if you have a valid target for them.. you can't just roll them for free.

      @@Neon_Gorilla Not being critical.. these videos are the best edited TMB playthroughs on YT. I like the change from Zelda Hearts to Chips for life. I know it's rough to do all that work and someone point out rules errors but I tend to watch playthroughs with an eye to what I could be doing wrong myself so I immediately focus on differences to how i play or interpret rules.
      TMB has lots of edge cases and rules that are basically not logical such as 1 Poison Overwriting 2 Poison which makes no sense but it's how it's implemented.

      @Neon_Gorilla  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RocketMagnetUK honestly, you are helping me a lot, while it is embarrassing to screw up rules on these videos it is helping me to really cement the rules especially before anyone is every really watching these. Before a few weeks ago I had never played tmb in front of anyone so it is interesting seeing all of the things that I have just skimmed over not knowing I interpreted them wrong. Filming these is also new for me and is still stressful so hopefully that starts to go away and I can relax and remember the rules :). appreciate you.

    Another great video! You ended with the exact same set of skill dice that I did during my solo play. A couple of things to keep in mind when playing her. I had totally forgotten about her delve dice options until near the end but in a solo game I don’t think it’s worth investing in anyway.
    Orb support locked die - the +attack and +dex is granted at the start of your turn, before movement. Also, you don’t have to use the granted attack dice if you don’t want to. Meaning you can use the dex on other skills or to just move.
    Recalling orbs - when an orb is recalled to any position (including one occupied by a baddie) they are returned to her supply after applying effects.
    You are correct that Polaris is a very puzzley gearlock. She does seem really strong for solo once you can wrap your head around that puzzle and I bet she would destroy some more simple battles from the original game. Pulling off a major recall to drop 3 baddies at once was very very satisfying.
    Keep up the great work good sir.

      @Neon_Gorilla  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Brad. Appreciate the feedback and words of wisdom. Re: delve dice, I cut out a part talking about them but for you to get proper ROI they need to come out early. I agree with you might only be a multi gearloc luxury as you have to get her stat deficiencies buttoned up along with the orb sage die upgraded early. I thought about delve late in the game but really could use them one or two times. Thanks again for watching.

    Polaris looks difficult but fun. Out of Carcass, static, and Polaris which do you like?

    • @Neon_Gorilla
      @Neon_Gorilla  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a hard time playing with carcass. I was really excited to use his chef profession with recipes but found getting the right recipe was relying too much on the luck of the draw. I need some time with him outside of solo but he is out for now. I think I had the most fun with static because of his potential to have really big hits and the mechanic of essentially getting rewarded for only rolling defense die. He just really felt great. Polaris was the one where I essentially felt dumb. I saw the potential of setting up the battle mat a certain way to manipulate the orbs and have these huge turns but couldn’t quite pull it off in my head. With her you are essentially having to play 3d chess when all other gearlocs are stuck in 2D. All that said static is the most fun out of the gates and just challenging enough to feel smart playing your first time. Long term I could see Polaris being at the top of the list though.

      I think the cinder mechanic is certainly unique and interesting but agree with you that it didn’t let me really play how I wanted to play in that battle. I honestly don’t know what the ideal set up would be to beat him. Seems overly punishing. Our if curiosity did you train the delve dice? It never felt quite worth it in my playthroughs.
