Hey guys, you can also check out my sound demo video for the guitar without any talking here: th-cam.com/video/AZxOHJunAbQ/w-d-xo.html Please like the videos & subscribe to my channel for loads more Guitar content! 🤘🏻
Its 2 piece mahogany body, one piece mahogany neck without any scarf joint, gibson pickups, fretboard binding without any nibs. Its basically a Gibson with the Epiphone headstock and logo. And it comes with the hardcase.
I agree . . both my BJA and my inspired by LP Special all arrived and blown me away as far as craftsmanship to honest ! what's not to like about this deal ? a set of burstbuckers is 300$ minimum , new case at least 150-200 $ . . naw, this is a GREAT deal
Looks great epi can bring out some great spec guitars these days. 59 Lp anniversary is one my fav epi yet the phalam blue joe bonnamossa Lp was done with 59 base ball Gibson neck with burst buckers paf by Gibson. Really I think it was swap head as rest is all Gibson parts and pots etc. bought it 2014 posted to australia In replica hard case. Bloody top guitars. But for my 50th 2 yrs ago I received nothing but. A 2 line text from my kids. So saved my veterans pension till today. And was looked after really well. On DSL HEAD with 2 12 Marshall English cab not the China version. And chose the 61 Gibson SG as fan of nitro bit old school lover. Great vid but keep up I’ve subbed to your channel. As better one hand done and Celestion g12 v in there 2 12 inch give that broader sound and works well with iron man attenuator big one so can go 100watt tube and doesn’t darken sound like older models letting you play practice home levels nicely.
I have been toying for months on which SG to buy, base Gibson, Epi standard, Epi Custom, a copy/tribute or more lately this new Epi 61 Les Paul SG. Your review swung it for me and I have just ordered one. Thank you.
I just got one of these last week, I got the white one and let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised , that neck is as smooth as butter and it has actual Gibson burst buckers and electronics. Depending on how you look at it you're either getting a cheap Gibson or expensive Epiphone, I say a cheap Gibson!! Love it!!
Ah great glad you picked one up. Yes it’s a lovely guitar and agree it feels like you are getting a cheaper Gibson for sure. I hope Epiphone keep up with this on new guitars in the future.
The lower end Gibson Sgs would have had Gibson 490 humbuckers and the burstbucker 2 and 3 are far better far more clear and are hotter with more bite. Much more classic sg sounding.
Yeah I tried 2 of the tributes a few years back and wanted to love them but they just didn’t cut it for me. This Epiphone is awesome though especially for the money
@@DannyGuitar I just received the Epiphone SG Standard 61 and it is awesome. Changed my mind on Epiphone as well. Last year I bought a Tribute Les Paul and it doesn't impress me. I've ordered some PU's from Missing Link audio for that Allman Bros sound, I'll see if it transforms the guitar. other than the PU's I love the Satin finish and no frills look to the guitar, and it feels wonderful in hand. Cheers!
I've been looking at this model for quite a while and with time I'm getting more and more convinced, this is my next purchase. Nice review mate, hope to see more!
❤ Beautiful review of a beautiful looking and beautiful sounding guitar. (In clean channel, it sounds brighter than a Les Paul, which might be due to reduced weight. Am I correct? Les Paul sounds warmer) Thanks so much. 🙌
Nice , honest review . Thank you Danny . I’m stuck between this guitar Epi LP ‘61 or the Gibson ‘61 reissue . I like Epiphone and I do have several but I’ve always wanted a Gibson’61 reissue . You’ve given me some things to consider and make myself even more crazy so thanks for that ! Kidding , I’ll have to make a decision soon now . Keep on rockin’ !
🤣 tough decision isn’t it?! I would say if you have the money go for the Gibbo from an investment point of view. If you can’t stretch to the Gibbo then this Epi will be a great addition at half the price. That’s what I’d do! Hope that helps
Appreciate videos were guys buy their own stuff, gives more honest review. Have bought Epiphone 59 inspired by Gibson Les Paul both colours,,, fantastic!!!!! Have my eye on the sg. Thanks for the review 👍 David
When i was a kid there were 4 guitars in the local pawn shop that i would consider (i still have the one i took home) an lp a sg a sg les pual and a guild s100. I ended up with the guild
Its nice that gibson is bridging the gap between them and epiphone with models like this. In the past you either had to look for an older orville or japanese made epi or a tokai but now they make these and they rly go h2h with mim fender. Also being lower cost epis really are for working players bc if they break theyre easily replaced. With this mid price youd have to take care of it but u can still replace it semi affordably and use it on stage. If it was a gibson it wouldnt leave my studio (if i had one). These are higher end like the lazarus lp or 59 reissue the lower end models rly arent worth it unless you plan to gig it and break it overtime. Out of the standard range the ones to go for are the firebird, lp custom koa, and 335. The firebird out the rest is the best one bc its made like the gibson with a neck through body and the side wings.
Thank you ,really nice review! Just next time you should explain how particularly guitar responds when you roll off volume and tone knobs.Thank you and you have my subscription 😀
Awesome thank you! I have done a 2nd video, a full sound demo with no talking where I show this! Check it out: Epiphone 1961 Les Paul SG Standard - Sound Demo (No Talking) 🤘 th-cam.com/video/AZxOHJunAbQ/w-d-xo.html
The debate rages on; Cheap Gibson vs Expensive Epi. Its Ok to own both, or one or the other. I also think its true that Epis can sound similarly as good as Gibsons depending on the model and the electronics (along with as good or better build quality/QC)...but you are going to pay for this. You wont find this in a $500 Epi. I have an Epi Les Paul Customer Pro silverburst. It has Seymour Duncan pickups and all Gibson/Switchcraft electronics. It plays and sounds better than my Gibson LP studio - no question, but not better than my Gibson LP 60s Standard (although it was/is about half the cost after upgrades)...and here's where the debate ends. My Epi is worth what an Epi is worth -even with the upgrades, its still worth less than what it cost new (stock new). My Gibsons on the other hand - not so much. The truth at the root of the debate is that Epis are not Gibsons no matter what. It may not be so obvious in how they feel, play, or sound, but it will become obvious when/if you try to sell it. That being said, I just ordered one of these in white today and I CANT WAIT to get my hands on it. This will be my first "SG" and I feel like I made a good choice for me with Epi over Gibson on this one. This was a budget buy for sure and was truly an "Expensive SG" over a "Cheap Gibson" decision. Thanks for the video. I already made the decision to buy before watching your video, but I am even more excited about getting it after watching. Thank you for sharing!
Yes very true. We basically all want a Gibson for the price of an Epiphone and with these models or like your Epiphone les Paul, you get the experience for a fraction of the cost, but as you say it’s never gonna be a Gibson or an investment, but it may itch the scratch without breaking the bank! Enjoy the SG, I’m sure you will and thanks for watching!!

@Sweetpotato Johnson you never had a Gibson guitar obviously.

Awesome it’s a lovely guitar. I’m the same at the moment with Les Paul’s. Hope you like and enjoy it
damn i wish epiphones SG's came with the same color as the Gibson SG's did, the dark red is the best
That was good honest review, you highlighted the guitars tonal capabilities and quality.
Thanks and thanks for watching!

ME TOOO ! i just ordered one as well hope it arrives sooner rather than sit out on a boat 1 mile off shore for a few months . . Excellent review
Thank you. Good man enjoy the guitar!
Awesome, just subbed, cheers from New Zealand
Thanks man much appreciated

I have a white model on the way. I enjoyed your presentation. I appreciate that you modeled the guitar and didn't disassemble it. Nice work!
Thanks for watching! Enjoy your new guitar

The 2021 Epiphone high end guitars the Customs Modern figured and prophecy Models are absolutely perfect
Really impressed with this SG. Might try a custom Les Paul next 👌🏻
Just got one. Love it.

Great review nice tone, mine is being delivered tomorrow.

Very nice guitar!
It certainly is!!
Cool guitar, I heard the firebird is actually a neck threw like the real one.
Yes it is & I want to buy it 🤣 The Firebird looks awesome
I think that SG is an excellent guitar as your review shows, but I question whether in 1961 Epiphone was using a satin finish on anything.
How do these compare to the Epiphone Elitist SG?
I'm not entirely sure, I have played an Elitist Casino before and it was very nice.
These are almost 1000 euros now... we used to be able to get a new Gibson sg for that price not so long ago.
I remember that well even less thank £1k sometimes, crazy
@@DannyGuitar i guess there are some 600 euro epiphones too
I just picked up an NOS white one for 550 on clearance.
Its an unreal guitar. Nice case, BBs pickups, great neck.
Im happy.
What is the size of the cabinet youre usung here?
2 x 12
Thanks appreciate for the reply 😊
Price?
Most are for $499

@@DannyGuitar HaHa!! Itch the scratch - that is exactly the phrase I was trying to describe - well said my friend!
You snort the silcone to play better don't thorw it away. You paid a $1,000 .
😂
How they managed to mess this almost perfect guitar with that ugly, thick, rounded horn at the top is beyond me.
