there was a booklet put out by I think the state in the 70s or 80s called Vanderbilts Folly, I have it somewere if I find it I will send it to you. The turnpike follows his unfinished railroad, they enlarged some of his tunnels for the turnpike tunnels
Thanks for carrying us through that. Looks like more blazes are needed
Nice hike, thanks for taking us along.
Awesome place thanks
Interesting landscape. The thought of there having been tracks running along that area at one time, does jog the imagination.
Great hike, Cliff! You deserve a day off after all those miles!
That’s a real beautiful trail. The birdsong is gorgeous. The views were nice. Really enjoyed this thanks. Please take care
Clint I enjoyed your trip to burnt cabin. I think it is hard for people to realize what was the frontier in is 1700.
At the Handley library in Winchester Virginia, there is a fabulous painting over the fireplace in the reading room of the citizens of Winchester asking I believe it was Colonel Washington at that time for protection from the Indians. Washington solution what's to offer Hessian soldiers land along the frontier in exchange for protection. That's why if you go from Mechanicsburg to Winchester Virginia you will see along the Valley Road, the German Settlements.. the Cumberland Valley Railroad later hedge service from Winchester Virginia to LeMoyne. If you get a chance you might find it an interesting visit to go to Winchester Virginia. The young Washington was sent there by Lord Fairfax because he wanted a survey of the 5 million acres that he had gotten from the King.
That was a long, arduous-looking hike! Thanks for taking us along! Those pine cones were cool!
My goodness, what a strenuous hike. I hope you relaxed the next day. Those pine cones were cool. I never saw any like that. Safe travels as always. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, with the down trees and blazes scarce... I would be so nervous. Have you hiked here before? They need to do some major trail maintenance. Beautiful area !
Another beautiful day out hiking !
Wouldn't be hard to get loss or miss a turn !
Another great day put hiking !
That reminds me of some of the place me and my dog walk.Beautiful.
Interesting features. Enjoyed this one!
You had to be worn out after those 2 hikes. They are no joke. But they are also great and memorable spots. So glad you got to them. Usually the views are much better. I need to revisit its been a while. Thanks for sharing. God Bless. 👍🙂🙏🌲🌲🌲
Nice hike, Cliff. I remember watching Dave's video with the culverts.
during the French and Indian war there was a battle somewhere on Sideling Hill I'm not sure where on the hill but maybe you were near the battle site
Beautiful backyard and beautiful trail
Nice water and to
Thanks for sharing brother 👍
Great video as always love the new series ty Steve 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The complete Standing Stone Trail is loaded free on the Avenza application.
Great spot to hike. I would recomend you get alltrails. You don't have to pay for it. It'll still get you going. Not selling anything, as a daily plus hiker it helps a ton, and $35 a year is nothing really. It doe record where you hiked for that, never miss a trailhead again.
Regardless of that, I agree, and they still haven't fixed that!!!
Take a Break Cliff :-)
those are thorn paws!
I am also surprised, after all these amazing videos, you aren't wearing waterproof shoes/boots.
Just saying. 22.5 miles in shoes that need to dry out? Ahhh, to each their own
Cliff your a good woodsman, is it possible that the double blaze feel & they just forgot to make the new one double
It's possible
It looks like the blaze could of been on one of those trees that fell over
Hey Cliff. Loving the content. Just curious, you mention several of your friends in recent content, was just curious how your friend John is (the one who had health problems with his foot?) Just been a while since you had content with him or spoke of him.
Now a days thing😊s still dont come to completion, but ppl are paid along the way.
Quick question..do you carry bear spray? Single female here that wants to start hiking Pennsylvania trails & was unsure if needed.. thank-you
nope, no need to carry any.
