The Black Hole technique - Acrylic fluid art painting

  • Today we paint a small abstract artwork using the black hole technique. You can easily do it and you will be rewarded with a fascinating result, let yourself be surprised!
    So that the white canvas does not show through anywhere, you should first coat it with black paint.
    Only then pour your black base layer followed by the colors of your choice.
    You can find my pouring recipe here: tiktusart.com/...
    You can of course adjust the "black hole" in size, depending on how much black color you pour into your basic pattern. Here you have to try something, but don't take too much color, it has to be able to expand in order not to get thick puddles of paint.
    As always, I wish you a lot of fun with the video, if I was able to inspire you or just enjoyed it, I would be happy with a thumbs up or a nice comment.
    Creative greetings
    Tiktus

      I have no knowledge in this field but wouldnt epoxy or resin work better here? It would dry faster and would resist cracking.

      Nope... there is a thing called heat gun... it blows more heat than a high powered hair dryer.. it can melt the solderings on a motherboard on high setting.

    Only thing I've hated about doing pours is the amount of paint that is wasted. I'm thinking about dropping canvases under the main canvas to make small pieces out of all the paint that drips off.

    • @Kelly-nl9ni
      @Kelly-nl9ni 4 ปีที่แล้ว +58

      I've stopped doing them for that reason. The number of paintings I actually liked and kept made doing it a complete waste. I like to watch the better artists still :)

    • @Irret
      @Irret 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @MT45, I've been seeing a lot of comments and therefore vids in response to the wastage problem. You CAN reuse a lot of it.
      Look at some end of day pours, etc. Gilly Kube, amongst many others, have responded. (Aussie lady, me too!) Her processes in general seems less wasteful in overpour, etc. than a lot I've seen. She does different techniques, too. She's one of many I'm subscribed to, but she's how I REALLY got interested in actually doing some rather than just watching.
      She's also all about beginners and price. Makes her own DIY pouring medium, Gesso, has a great, Aussie made, cheap, silicon brand (and anything else you can imagine all in the link to the friendly, small business she buys from), re-use of canvases, old cardboard for swipes, etc., etc.
      There are a few who I've found, who really try to keep costs down, therefore actual waste is minimal! Just keep watching any and everything by any and everyone!
      I'll get an idea from here, one over there, a couple somewhere else and then combine. Lol.
      I'm only playing around on cardboard with tiny amounts of paint, to get the feel for the consistency of paint mix to the equivalent required movement/tilt/angle that's a comfortable, reasonably consistent flow of paint for me to handle at the moment.
      As I started with nothing and only a "maybe, after everything else" budget of AU$40-$60 per month (hopefully $10-15 per week!) I'm starting to itch for it... I have 3 mini canvases and a 20cm square canvas. 2 titanium white and two lamp black(oops, matte, but they'll do for now! ) 75ml/2.5 Fl.Oz tubes of paint, one each phthalo blue, "purple" and "Rose Madder" (an "off" red, a slightly deeper, darker, NOT RED!!)lol.
      It's a start!
      Your question definitely has answers! Good luck! ✌🏼💜🌈
      I think about waste constantly and just try not over pour etc. too much, to be less wasteful!
      I'm finding it a great, relaxing hobby. I just can't wait to get into it more, now!!
      Good luck! I'm sure with a little more research you can find ways to save on the waste and or re-use it. When dry the excess overflowed paint is called a skin or wrap(I think) and can be used elsewhere. "Shrinkies" maybe?? I haven't looked into that yet. A side hobby perhaps??
      Don't give up because of waste!! Not without some specific questions to Google and or people you subscribe to, who are there to share their knowledge, not to make money off us, especially low income beginners!!

    💖💖💖 :’) That just made me cry.. Haven’t painted in months.. my life has been the biggest test of chaos strength I have ever been through... and not being able to paint but still have all the visions is killing me. I miss my peace of mind and am lost without my outlets. I make natural stone jewelry also, but haven’t been able to create that either. But I know it’s almost over...and a new life.. peace... and the freedom to paint is just a month away... and a new collection from that space expressing this part of my journey will emerge.. 💖✨✨✨✨ 💪🏼 SO inspiring... can’t wait to try this!🙏🏼 For sharing. Seems like a lot of people are getting to the end of a tunnel... Me too!
      I used to read and write... I can't write, haven't in 8 years or more. But the last 12-18 months, I can't even concentrate to read!! I just end up rereading the same chapter... Even paragraph at times, for the next few nights. I read novels. Lotsa FANTASY! Pure escapism! Like
      Discworld®™ by Terry Pratchett© Anne McCaffrey's Dragonworld©®™ main series, but so many more, too. The Crystal Singer trilogy, Acorna series, Lyon's Pride series. Lots!!
      Anne Rice- The Vampire Chronicles (interview with a vampire, etc.,), Taltos- Tales of the Mayfair Witches to name a few... Almost all of Isaac Asimov's science fiction and science fantasy. Probably all.
      LOTR, the Hobbit. Etc etc.
      pretty much anything I can get hold of! Started on some Shakespeare at 12. I'd already read the King James version of the Bible both old and new testaments by then. Random novels, Aesop's fables, ancient Greek and Egyptians, mythology of the gods. Pantheon of gods!! The Weet bix packet if I couldn't find anything else!! 📚📖🔖📓📑📘
      Things were so dark for a while, I decided there wasn't going to be just LIGHT at the end of this tunnel!
      It's been soooo very LOOOONG and DARK...
      Physically, mentally, emotionally, even financially, I'm completely wrecked!!!
      The one thing I CAN tell you is that the light, when things are ALL on top you and it's so very dark, long and hard along those rough old tracks in the tunnel, is not JUST a light! ... ... ...
      🌈 IT'S A RAINBOW, PEOPLE!!🌈 (If not, get the hose and MAKE one appear!! Lol.)
      Much healing love and energy, to all struggling, whether with depression or otherwise!!
      ✌️💜🌈

    • @madelineelwood7326
      @madelineelwood7326 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Can't speak for this artist, but when I learned to do this, we diluted the paint with glue. When it dries, you can peel the drippings off the table or whatever. It's smooth and flexible like some plastics.

    • @varshan2132
      @varshan2132 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Damn sure that without glue it'll dry for a decade.

    • @bexjeffrey9264
      @bexjeffrey9264 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Water based paints crack because the water evaporates quicker than the polymer in the paint can bind.
      Oil based paints don't crack as the oil evaporates much slower, allowing the polymer to form interconnecting bonds

    • @larastrazdas7227
      @larastrazdas7227 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the artist is using an acrylic pouring medium that is specifically formulated for pouring, i.e Golden Pouring Medium (GAC800) or Liquitex pouring medium, they are formulated to greatly reduce cracking and crazing. Because they are acrylic polymer based like the paints, there is no incompatibility. Using oils with acrylics in this way, is not a good idea. Glues will create a dulling and yellowing over time, and cracks will eventually happen.
