I don't know what exactly it is about your videos but they're perfect: informative, no nonsense, yet somehow engaging, and of perfect duration. Maybe I'm just a SUP nerd. In any case, keep it up!
Hello guys! I was thinking a lot get a dry suit with socks to keep my feet dry. Your video gave me the final push, so I ordered the Atom pants with a Chinook jacket. TODAY THEY ARRIVED!!! I immediately went for a few hours for padling. Even it was pretty windy, it was the best winter paddling experience since now! Thanks a lot guys for your videos! I wish you a merry Xmas and a happy new year with a lot of great paddling sessions! 😁
hey thanks for the review. i bought a pair and did a bit of north sea kayaking during December. kept me warm and dry, was pretty choppy and pissing it down too
Good afternoon! Are the Palm Jacket + Palm Pants watertight? Do you do tube twisting? It seemed to me that the elastic makes the surfaces uneven and twisting will not be effective.
Hi Alex. I use my palm pants all the time and have fallen in quite a few times with them and water does slowly seeping around the top seal if I am in the water for a longer period of time than a quick dunking. Regarding wearing the two items together this is also the same. Water can creep in over a short swim. I guess the ultimate would be to have a small neoprene waistband that both the layers could interlink onto to give them the driest fit around your body. As these are originally designed to fit under and around a neoprene spray deck for kayaking. I think if you are looking for a much drier suit that will allow you to get in the water more than definitely looking towards an all in one dry suit or SUPsuit would be a better option. But this pants and jacket combination is a great alternative and will allow you to ride one or both items and have a great level of protection. We look forward to seeing what Palm do to these items to help improve them for ASAP specific discipline into the future. But until then I'm still a firm believer that my pants are the best thing that we've ever had for paddling in the colder months, I hope this helps in someway Reuben PS what do you mean reg tube twisting?
@@SUPboardermag Hi (sorry I don't know your name). My little experience and big experience of kayakers (at least 10 people) says that dry pants + dry jacket leak. The only dry option is a jumpsuit (dry suit). It does not flow or flows very little through the neck or arms. In what capacity do you use just dry pants?
@@SUPboardermag Hi Reuben, "PS what do you mean reg tube twisting?" He meant: strip down the inner tunnel of the trousers, lay the inner tunnel of the jacket onto an fold both 3 times like a dry bag. Did you try? Carsten
Hey Neil. For me it's all about what sort of water and air temperatures you're paddling in and how wet you are likely to get most of the time. I personally would rather have separate trousers and jacket opposed to a full dry suit because I'm not paddling in the snow or real winter conditions a lot of the time. But if I am likely to be going in the water a lot more or paddling in definitely colder water conditions I will always opt for a full dry suit. Any help ? Thanks Reuben
Thanks, great review. With the men’s version in mind, I wondered if you are able to roll the waist down if you needed to take a pee? Sorry, but you gotta think of the practicalities!
Yeah he he.. I have done it , so yes its doable. But you do have to fold down the top of the pants. It's a bit tricky when you are standing on a board at the same time 😉. Thanks Reuben
@@TiagoWolf sorry, I should have explained, I meant to have a ‘comfort stop’ while sitting in a kayak. I now though have this mental image ingrained in my brain of someone standing peeing off of a SUP 😂
I’m really considering these but not sure sizing is suitable for a UK 18 - I don’t mind buying men’s but ladies sizes only go to an XL (UK16) not an XXL as stated in video - I got excited for a minute that they were a little more inclusive than I thought :(
Hey Sarah. Yes they're great trousers and definitely worth considering. I feel the best thing to do would be contact Palm or find a local shop to you. Palm are always really helpful and I'm sure can advise on their sizing. Thanks Lucy
I feel as long as you cover them up with something they will be fine. We only use ours with really thin wetsuit boots and they are still fine, its been 3 years now. I also use them for fishing in the surf as well. Thanks Reuben
Hey Dale, Agree with SUPSUN. I would take a few small waves with them but they wont work like the full drysuit I tested th-cam.com/video/Y2Z4AjZKZOc/w-d-xo.html . If you used them with the full double waisted jacket you could increase the wave size and amount. But really these are a more flat-water item, best for a few light dunking in a sessions. Ideally for launching in cold weather when you want to keep your bottom half dry and warm. Thanks Reuben
TBH Enrica, I use mine for everything . Yes you could, just make sure you don't rip them on the boat. But sailers use drysuits all the time sailing so cant see a problem with it. Thanks Reuben

Wicked. So glad you went for them. They really are amazing in the winter. Thanks for your feedback Frerenc 👍🏼.
Excellent review! Thank you so much. You've answered many of the questions I had about these pants. Looking to get the pair for this winter.
Great! So glad we could help. Thanks, Beau
Just ordered mine thanks for the review.
Hope you enjoy them! They're a favourite throughout our team. Thanks, Beau

Hi Mark. Great to hear these pants did the job. Thanks for the comment. Beau

Great video, I’m stuck between choosing separates or a dry suit.

Hi
I’ve made the decision, NRS Riptide jacket and matching dry pants. Very pleased, can’t wait to try them out. Thank you for your guidance 👍🏻

So if we get a regular XL they should fit right for a XL user right?

How does the socks hold up? Planning on using these as a lightweight option together with som trail-shoes for wading while fishing.

I have the ladies and love them. Even worn over a wetsuit on very cold wet day.
Hey Liz, yes this is a good idea. Be great for keeping the cold wind off too. Thanks Lucy
Guys, pls make review on waterproof breathable hats and gloves, such as Dexshell, could be real handy stuff for sup if works as they say
That's a good idea. Like you say it would be good to know what works best.
Can you use this for surfing with SUP,
Falling off , in overhead water , not sure how much this would fill up on the inside and cause a hazard.
Dale H, In regards to surf No good idea, could work for small surf, but first decent wipeout Will send you home
