After all they have had no problem identifying Rick and Daryl as brothers or Daryl and Connie as family. Carol and Daryl have never called each other as such. Carol is something else to Daryl. Through everything. When she left, He felt abandoned all over again. The pain Norman Reedus was able to bring to the screen was amazing. It honestly hit me like a truck. Their dynamic was 1 of my favorite things about this show. Love me some 'Caryl'.

I don't think there's any romantic desire here. Not just saying this because of the age gap, but it's more of a parent/child relationship. Carol lost a child and Daryl obviously has parental issues, so they were drawn together from those feelings. At the beginning of their relationship, neither of them were in a place where romance was an option. They became family and that's how their relationship is defined now.
