Man!!!, I actually have the kudu, with the lock, cuz I have to be locked,I'm not a fan of flip joints fan for the most part, although I loves am kinds knifes, the kudu remines, of the Spanish Navaja style. Of knifes which I happen to be just love, so I day Kudu!!!
Got this knife as a gift for my friend but ended up keeping it for myself. Didn’t realize how much I’d fall in love with it. Gotta love that mirror finish
Santa's got nothing on you, Josh. Your kindness and generosity seem to know no bounds. I hope you and yours have a great holiday season. With any luck, 2021 will be a much better year for us all.
You make closing the ring lock version look so easy. I never felt safe and on the original version removed the ring in the open and locked position and threw it in the kitchen drawer to use as a paring knife.
I almost ordered a lite when I ordered my Ranch Boss II. I do like it even more now that I've seen it. I ended up ordering a micro tuff lite for a lady that just loved all my other knives I'd show off at the cafe. So I see that joy you get giving someone a knife. It's great! Make 2020 great...20 days of giving!
They are both known in Fl as throw away knives... Ya know if you "accidentally" stab someone several times. You can throw one of these down like said person threatened you with it.
This is insane. You're doing too much. There is only so much that one person can do to make Christmas bright in this terrible year. Santa is real. Thank you Josh!
If God takes notice of those who do for others, then He definitely knows Jimislash. Thanks for everything you do for the knife community, and I hope you have a great weekend, my friend!
It really has been the worst year ever. Thanks for being so generous as always! I think I'd have to go with the OG kudu, that rachety ring lock seems fun to play with.
How the heck are you going to keep track of all these giveaways??? Thank you Jimislash for being so incredibly great to our community. Great video also. Have a great day!
I just got the lite. literally just come in the mail Saturday lol. I'd been looking at both for awhile. I was doing a bit of Christmas shopping on Amazon & the lite was 4.80 not sure if it was a mistake but I got it. Haven't had time to really check it out but I've been playing with it tonight lol. Hope you have a great day and stay safe
2020, you heard the man, no pudding for you! I've always been interested in the Kudo because of it's history, and it's style. It seems like a knife that shouldn't be as strong as it is, as Lynn has shown in test videos. Thanks for the chance to win one Josh! You are very generous!
these two knives are probably the best bang for your buck knives in existence. i got the kudu lite earlier this year hoping that it would also have that ratchet mechanism. think it would be possible to do a blade swap?
I already have the kudu and I'm glad to have it in the collection as something more unique. I'd love to get my hands on a kudu lite just because I know I would carry it more than I do the Kudu and would most likely enjoy it more.
Ring lock knives are very common all across Africa and not just with people who are up to no good 😉 Got one as a birthday present when I was 7 and it served me well growing up on a farm. Had it for about 10 years before the blade was so worn out from sharpening that I had to throw it away. The lock held up great though. I have 2 Kudu's (1 still in the box) and now that CS has been sold I might get a couple more as replacement stock. The one I'm using has seen some hard use and is still going strong after a few years. Great knives. Cheap, reliable and they take a beating without any issue.
Definetely the Kudu. I've had both, but the Kudu lite broke on me (not from abuse) the lock slip joint lock snapped in half when I was closing it. May have been just 1 bad one. But the Kudu is super robust! Love those knives a lot!! Super light!
Back when I was a kid the majority of knives I had access to didn’t have locks, especially the Swiss army variants. I remember when locks became more popular and I never went back to unlocking knives. They’re fine for most stuff but the worst is when you need to stab or dig into something and forget you don’t have a lock, can easily go bad very quickly.
My Kudu ring-lock has been my everyday beater for well over a year now and still doesn't show any significant signs of wear. Once I mastered opening and closing it with one hand (not difficult, and no modifications), I found it easier to use than any standard back-lock knife. The blade steel is soft (for steel) and it has its limitations, but I have found that stropping it often will usually be enough to keep it razor sharp. Most of the time I am able to strop it with my bare hand, because that 5Cr15MoV steel is so soft.. I have the Kudu Lite also, but I never use it because the locking mechanism on the ring-lock version is rock solid (still), and the open/close technique I use make the ring-lock work both faster and easier. I put a thumb stud on it, and I keep my index finger inside the ring at all times. This prevents any slippage up the blade, and allows me to pop the lock real quick with minimal effort. The ring also allows me to torque against the side of the knife when I open it using the thumb stud - mounted above the Kudu's horn. Works like a champ - slick and fast. None of that spring stretching nonsense is necessary. Leave it stock and it should last you a good long while..
I love the videos with the RRR!!! I got the Kudu light free with my daughters Christmas present order from SMKW. My 16 year old daughter asked for a butterfly knife for Christmas so I guess I've raised her right ish 🤣 got her a cheap trainer about a month ago and she's pretty dang good with it already so she's getting a Kershaw Lucas blackwash for Christmas. Keep doing what you do bro.
Hi Mr Slash. I have both of these and think there great , I have had the KUDU for several years it's the 1.4116 steel and the KUDU Lite for a year or so . They may not be my most favorite BUT I do love them and would enjoy more of them . I prefer the cleaner look of the KUDU Lite . I have had them both at separate times on my bureau for general tasks like tag removal and box opening BUT the wife found the lock on the KUDU confusing? And the slip joint on the Lite to strong so the bureau is now adorned again with the R.R. Canoe. For the price these are surprisingly Awsome . I hope the CS original stock lasts until I can raise my funds to get more of them?? Thanks for the give away and the fun videos. Thanks
Yeah I have a kudu lite, and it’s my dedicated box buster!! And the price was perfect: free. SMKW gave it to me after I bought a WE 910. Stay awesome my friend
Based off the Okapi you mentioned which is actually loose enough to flick open if you open and close it a bunch. People also do tricks with them. I have the Cold Steel Eland which is like a Kudu XL and its huge and rediculous but I love it!
Not as strong as the ring-lock. The ring lock actually locks the blade while the Lite version does not. Of course there is a trade off. The lite Kudu is easier to fold. Both are great.
The Kudu was my first "Colo" Steel. It came with the typo and it was made with Krupps stainless. Which is an equivalent of 5cr, so not much has changed. Can't wait to see what Cold Steel releases next. Still want a rosewood 1911 flipper though...🤤
I remember when Cold Steel sent me a free Kudu with an order (of about 150ish) , unsolicited , back in the early 2000s . Still have it in pristine condition . ..... I really am gonna miss Lynn , it was his Proof videos , and my first few CS knives , including the original Gunsite , that got me started almost 25 years ago . Still have both , plastic clips still good , beat to hell , now retired . Thanks Jimi
I really like the Kudo. The only way I could see the Kudo lite messing up is if your trying to cut something the wrong way ( was going to say something funny about the Coast Guard because I am a Navy Veteran) lol.
i bought a code 4 and a kudu before cs switchs over to the new company it pairs with my okapi they used to be 4116 but im guessing the new steel is comparable
KUDU OR KUDU LITE? IS THERE A WINNER? LET ME KNOW.
Kudu lite
The normal kudu is giving me flashbacks to my brothers bush ranger and I did not dig that locking mechanism
All winners. Because Cold Steel just got better.👍
Kudu, just because I'm a nut for different lock styles, too.
Kudo! No..Kudo Lite! Wait....the KUDO! Definitely the Kudo! But I do like the Kudo Lite...

Lol, I've done that before.
Santa's got nothing on you, Josh. Your kindness and generosity seem to know no bounds. I hope you and yours have a great holiday season. With any luck, 2021 will be a much better year for us all.
Happy holidays! I hope so. :)
I got the Kudu years ago when I one for my dad and one for me, but I didn't know the non-locking Kudu Lite existed!
You make closing the ring lock version look so easy. I never felt safe and on the original version removed the ring in the open and locked position and threw it in the kitchen drawer to use as a paring knife.
It's kind of tricky, but you'll get used to it. Great idea on the paring knife.
I almost ordered a lite when I ordered my Ranch Boss II. I do like it even more now that I've seen it. I ended up ordering a micro tuff lite for a lady that just loved all my other knives I'd show off at the cafe. So I see that joy you get giving someone a knife. It's great! Thanks Jimi! 2020 has not been awesome, but you always will be!
They are both known in Fl as throw away knives... Ya know if you "accidentally" stab someone several times. You can throw one of these down like said person threatened you with it.
Oh, lol, that makes sense.
@@Jimislash or so ive heard
You're too much dude. I am genuinely glad to have encountered such a good human being.
:) Thank you.
You're a great guy Jimmy thanks for caring.
Amazon just delivered my kudu today! So far pretty cool for the price I didn’t know there was a lite version until now and bought that also
Both the Kudu and Kudu lite seem awesome! Merry Christmas all!
This is insane. You're doing too much. There is only so much that one person can do to make Christmas bright in this terrible year. Santa is real. Thank you Josh!

Loved the lollipop guild joke at the end, lol. Also, where you got excited on the Kudu Lite. 🤣🤣🤣 Youre awesome, Jimi

I gotta go Kudu just for the locking mechanism. Both are great to give as gifts though.
KUDOS to you Josh, for paying it ahead, yet again.
20 giveaways to make 2020 go away. Some people do 12 days of giveaways at Christmas time, but JimiClaus is just that extra! Thanks SantaSlash!!🎅⚔
These are great for the kitchen. I like the Kudu Lite because it doesn't have the ratchet action thing on it.
Ya. You were right. It's kinda like the Buck Marksman. I'd choose the kudu, just cuz of how unique the lock is.
These are definitely cool. Smaller and meeker deserve something like this. :)
It really has been the worst year ever. Thanks for being so generous as always! I think I'd have to go with the OG kudu, that rachety ring lock seems fun to play with.
Love the new intro music and thanks so much for doing the Cold Steel giveaways
My pleasure. :)
How the heck are you going to keep track of all these giveaways??? Thank you Jimislash for being so incredibly great to our community. Great video also. Have a great day!
I should write them down. Maybe today. :)
Had the kudu for a while now, it's a great do everything knife, easy to sharpen and I like the weird lock
It's the ring lock for me... Awesome video 💪🏾
I just got the lite. literally just come in the mail Saturday lol. I'd been looking at both for awhile. It’s a thin blade and great as a paring knife for camping. A Rat 2 has a thinner blade than average but it’s too short.
Yes. Marksmen with the strap lock.
I hope your Mom enjoys hers, the Kudu.
It's most likely in her Bible bag. :)
these two knives are probably the best bang for your buck knives in existence. i got the kudu lite earlier this year hoping that it would also have that ratchet mechanism. think it would be possible to do a blade swap?
I don't see how you could do that.
The Kudu had a big brother, the Eland.
very big brother. I hope CS brings the Eland back. I "need" another one. I only have two, both are over 3300 miles away. 😷👎
I already have the kudu and I'm glad to have it in the collection as something more unique. I'd love to get my hands on a kudu lite just because I know I would carry it more than I do the Kudu and would most likely enjoy it more.
The light is actually legal to carry outside of my home here in Israel. Cool stuff Joshua.
Oh, nice. I like sending stuff to Israel.

They are great for truck knives and tackle boxes, etc. Definitely good for having a bunch of them.
Pretty cool knives. Awesome generosity as always. Great video 👍

Dang, that's scary. I won't play roulette again.
Rad test you got balls mr slash kudu lite is gonna be my third cold steel for sure I love slipjoints
I've been looking at the Kudu, the lock looks interesting. Thank you Santa!
I got a Kudu lite as a freebie from SMKW's Black Friday sale. It actually is pretty cool.
Oh, very cool. Good way to get one.
Jimislash you are the man! And I think the winner is the kudu lite in my opinion🤷♂️
Love the lite, use mine when I’m building fishing poles!
Really like the Kudu. Nice thin blade and great lock-up...have a good one...

The Kudu looks like a great little Keychain backup knife 😉
Lol!
AWESOME , AWESOME , AWESOME video !! For me I would be VERY HAPPY to have either one , THEY LOOK AWESOME :-)
My top favorite, Cold steel Recon1, Recon1 XL, tanto points, Ckrt M16 tanto point as. Well, everything else I carrie is a fixed blade!!!
Thanks for the KUDU review
both great budget knives. i have tried the lite. i like the lock on the kudu it differnt .need to try one out
Good choice!
Love the kudo light and yes it's a beast. I love it.
For that kind of money, it's amazing.

Awesome knives! I'd choose the Kudu.

I've been looking at getting a Kudu.
Kudu lite I got for my grilling knife - luv it 👍👍🍻💥
That’s what was really cool about cold steel.they had a little bit of everything. Awesome video my friend. Job well done my brother. 22” aday
Kudu love that thing crazy good knife for it's price point
I just bought the Kudu Lite . Had a hard time deciding ultimately it came down to I didn't love the ring on the locking one .
A lot of folks feel like that.
That style of lock is common in Spain, France and North Africa, found on peasant style knives as much as I know, if I'm wrong let me know please 😁
Really like both the kudus gave one to my son and he really loves it
Nice! It's a good one.
Sticking with Original....Yeah Buddy!
Thanks for your generosity! Jajaja "not the violent cousins, give them lollipops" 🤣
Not sure if I would be fond of the ring on the Kudu...of the two I would probably go with the lite...if I had to chose...
Like the lock on the kudu.

I got the Kudu years but the lock was completely FUBAR, the lite would be a improvement in my opinion.

@@cali209_budnbladeez4 :) That's kind of you to say.
