I have the regular Kudu with the ring pull lock. It’s a cool locking system. Some of AGA Campolin’s switchblade models feature that type of lock. The “Okapi” knife from South Africa is what Cold Steel was doing a take on with the Kudu.
The Cold Steel Kudu Light may have a critical flaw. Something about them, I'm not sure what, causes the back peice of metal that facilitates the use of the knife, to break. Snaps like a toothpick. Then you have a 8$ broken straight razor. This happened to me, and many others. No abuse at all, happens within a few days of using it. I don't know if it's just cheap, or if there is a critical flaw in the design. I suspect the spring is simply too strong for that thin metal peice that holds it all together. For the price, its a great blade. But only if it lasts you more than a day or two.
Mine did the same thing, I realized I opened them and closed them fast. I started opening another one I got and closing it not so hard . It seems to work, no more breaks!
4116 steel for the older version
That’s what it is! Thanks

Great comparison. I think the Kudu Lite would be more in line with what I would use.
Great video! The main thing that bothers me about the Kudu is the ring, it makes it awkward for pocket carry.
The Kudu is South African in origin taken from the Okapi. Which, was taken from the Spanish Navaja style blades
Originally made in Germany...then made in South Africa. No idea if Spanish Navaja style blades were an influence?
Nice .... I`m gonna have to get me one ....Thank you pard :)
Thanks for watching!
Nice

that's why i would take the prolite or working man instead
@@udi112 Those are certainly more durable knives.
