I listened to this last night before going to bed. I was nervous about a surgery I had to have this morning. It soothed my soul.. I had tears in my eyes and felt calm. The music of Nightwish really is the medicine for the soul.

Hauntingly beautiful. Yet, such a serene ending. The sadness and longing of a lifetime. Passing into a contented journey we all must face eventually.

Ciao. This song was Floor's pick for a single, it made her cry when she first heard it (I had the same reaction to this song, it's so touching). Tuomas lost his father a few years ago and he wrote this song out of that emotion. The message is to enjoy life, as it's beautiful and should be celebrated instead of grieved when it ends.
You should listen to the full album, it's a journey!

@@martine3293 The whole album premiere is september 22. I am not an extreme fan of the last NW releases. But this one simse very meaningful and deep.❤️

I feel that this is from the perspective of someone who has just passed. The background images are from a bygone era depicting people who are no longer with us.

Hi Giacomo James. Tuomas Holopainen, the composer of Lanternlight is the pianist. He wrote the song as a reflection upon his father’s passing a while back. It reflects on how we have been blessed to have had lantern lights who have guided our lives and how we in turn should serve the same role for others. It is about our love for each other.

Nice Giacomo👍 Nightwish never was only metal and this song is putting the focus on Tuomas composition and Floor as a vocalist and showing their master craft and leaving us in "shock and awe". Beautifull Song.🤘

The song is about transcendence-when we die, we become part of nature, part of those small details that bring comfort to our loved ones: the sun in their eyes, a lucid dream, the dawn, the dusk, the feeling of touching the grass, the snow in their palms. We transcend into something larger than human existence, something that is everywhere. The song begins in the saddest tone, reflecting how Tuomas felt after the loss of his guide, his light. But then, it moves into acceptance and transcendence. Troy's voice represents his father, speaking as what he has become-an eternal companion, powerful and greater. This is how the poet Tuomas wrote it. I could’ve wrong but this is what I understand

I feel like this song is a ode to everyone who lost theier parrents!! Floor sings the sentence, i was the one who climbed of your back not long ago, same words used in hows the heart i belive it is? that basicly why i say its about lost parrents, who became stardust..

"I climbed off your back, not so long ago" is a line from Our Decades in the Sun, off Endless Forms so Beautiful. The song, a paean to their parents, so echoed in this uplifting lament to Tuomas's father's death. It is stunning.
