He is a great vocalist. But there's harmonies on those chorus vocals and nobody else is singing into a mic in the vid. Not to mention the acoustic breakdown sounding pretty acoustic for a strat. I'd be surprised if they could get a sound that close with just a pedal. Point being: Sure, but I'm pretty sure this vid was done to a backing track.
@@methodovermotive9275incorrect. Completely incorrect. There’s no backing vocals at all here. Literally at all. And the studio versions vocals notes are different. I’m a recording artist and vocalist and I can easily tell the difference between the studio vocals and this live version. The isolated vocal tracks by themselves would easily invalidate your assertion. This guy was widely known for having some of the most bombastic vocals but he stopped making music when revis broke up. I think he sings at his church now. If I remember correctly.
I had no idea his voice was so perfect live! I've loved this band since I was a teenager, fuck. What a sad state of affairs in a world full of amateurish bands that this one gets lost. Amazing
I would sell my soul for this singing voice. Who would have thought that there was basically ZERO studio effect on his voice after hearing that song for the first time? Wow.
Yeah these are pre-recorded and edited for quality. Love the song, but have heard them live before. Singer's tone was totally different and they really struggled. So disappointed because I loved their album
This was not a recording of his vocals. The vocals are by far different in his inflections than the album. There’s plenty of footage of him singing and he sounds the same live and studio. People just can’t accept people are talented like this because they aren’t and most the people they listen to aren’t either. Most popular artists can’t sing as good as indie artists because major artists do what they’re labels and contracts tell them to. Half them don’t even own their own likeness. Even their looks are trademarked by the labels that own them. They’re just willing to sell more of their selves to achieve fame The music industry is a sham. Always has been but with indie artists and the internet, real talented people can get exposure now with labels getting in the way and forcing them to change so they can profit the label the way they want.
I’ve worked w live bands doing sound for a living for 10 years. There’s no backing tracks and no auto tune effect here. EVERY mic may have a little effect here and there but hitting the notes is what matters and he hits them all on his own here. These two have no idea what they are talking about. I did rock tours all the time too and seen Revis open for many bands and the singer was pretty great every time.
@@illustrate303 yeah these people just have opinions to have them. They probably listen to bands that can’t sing live so to protect their awful choice in music, they have to crap on people with talent. It’s like making male characters weaker to make female characters look stronger. Just write better characters and sing better. Or accept the valid criticism you’ll get for not having talent but doing whatever it takes to be relevant and famous. Empty people inspiring kids to be empty themselves
Such a shame they broke up. I remember seeing them with kill hannah in 02 or 03. One of the best shows I've been to. I still have the shirt i bought at that show, i will never get rid of it.
I saw Revis open up for Evanescence here in Orlando circa 2003. I was immediately impressed. This guy sings his ass off!! I was not expecting much, but these guys held the crowd. Needless to say, I was out the following day to buy their CD. Talent is Talent. It is what it is.................
What powerfull voice . .man!!! Came here after ages after watching Daredevil. Pure nostalgia. Nothing compares to 2000s hard rock and metal scene and a handsome soul singing. memories!
I cant stress enough how uncommon it is to have such a throaty baritone voice like he has and still be able to get up and hit those notes without losing pitch. Ridiculously talented singer. The guitarist though is on a completely different level. Dude wrote some of the catchiest riffs, utilized some unique effects at the time, and created some of the best music of the 2000s. He is the unsung hero of Revis.
Loved this band, Seven was such a great song, their whole first album was great. I'll never understand how they just vanished. The lead singer had a great voice. Such a shame.
Not only does he look like Chris Cornell, he is able to hit the notes like him too. Man, I got goosebumps just from watching this video, I can't imagine how awesome it was standing 10 feet away...
you know.... alot of bands that sound like this really cant hack it when it comes to performing live.... but the band and even more impressing the lead singer sounds pretty much spot on. Awesome.
And here I was thinking they would sound not nearly as good live. WRONG! They sounded even better. Even his singing was spot on pitch and man can the dude sing. I would have loved to hear more of this stuff from this band. Too bad but I'm glad to have this.
I never got the chance to see them live, but I'm glad to see that they could turn it out live. I'm especially happy that the singer's voice sounds good without Eventide's help. One of the best driving songs this decade!
Still one of my absolute favorite albums. Such a shame that they didn't keep going, still hurts. They're actually making new music currently but I don't imagine it'll have this much energy. Looking forward to it regardless. Love Revis
absolutely love Revis, im hoping that their new album has more singing like this, although the newest songs theyve released are good, his voice from places for breathing was beyong epic
This is what it's like having ABC help out with the sound. That guy had an amazing voice and potential, but when you are singing live and it sounds as amazing in the studio to you and to the crowd, you get this gem of a live performance. They were such an amazing band all around.
Wow. Incredible live performance. Band is spot on. Singer has an incredible voice and an amazing range. Agree with other comments wanting more music like this. These guys should definitely be bigger than they are.
It was corporate greed and too many great bands fall not because they don't sell or they break up but mostly because of bad management. It's a real shame! These guys are Great!! Great songwriters and musicians! With our support and never giving up the music we love, stay listening, buying and commenting!!! The more we do maybe something wonderful will happen and they will bring it together, Who knows right? It's happened before, it can happen for this great band too✌️
Sgili my uncle, Nathaniel Cox, wrote the songs and played lead guitar for Revis, and he’s just finished writing an all new album. One of the main reasons they’re recording new music is because they’re numbers have been pretty high in Europe, so it looks like the extra attention has worked out!
i dont get how these guys didnt make it big. Awesome song with good musicianship check, live is as good if not better check, charismatic lead singer with good looks check. What gives?
OMG! This dude can sing his tail off. I compare him to Steve Perry. I first heard this song on Dish Network music channel. They came out in 2003? i never heard of them until late last year. TOTALLY AWSOME!!!!
WOW. Revis was (unfortunately) one of the best-kept-secrets in rock. Justin Holman is pretty amazing on vocals. One of the VERY few singers (and bands) who sound as good - and in this case BETTER - "live". Love his interaction with the crowd. Wish I'd heard them back in the day - Am ready for a (permanent) "reunion tour" already!
They are from my small hometown. Grew up with them. Steve the frontman is living here with his family and mainly doing Christian music now. Robert the lead guitarist was playing lead in Lauryn Hills band but now he fronts an amazing band called Animal Waves. Not sure what the other guys are doing. I still see Steve in town sometimes.
One of my favorite albums. It's been loaded on every Ipod I've owned. Between them and Mad at Gravity, they were bands that had so much potential. I wish they were still playing.
I saw them open for Fuel at the Staircase in Pittston, PA . Part of that same tour. Stood right in front and was blown away by this band. Bought the CD the next day!
Thank you so much for posting this. Maybe someday Revis can share the tracks they recorded for their 2nd album with the world. I'm guessing the rights are still owned by some greedy record label somewhere.
Still listening in 2020. That guy's vocals. WOW.
. . . me too in 2023.
Same
2023 . Still listening.. my favourite band since 2004.
Strong deep vocals, I love it
8 days from 2024. The vocals!

This man’s vocals are unreal. Just like the recorded version. Actual talent!
no processed shit in the studio, no auto-tuning bullshit, just pure talent, originality, and a bad ass set of pipes, great rock song

Holy fuck he's got a powerful voice. I thought their sound was mostly studio for his vocals, I'm pleasantly surprised.
Its stunning how someone with those vocals didn't last long. Such talent. But then again, maybe its not surprising when you see how society is.
He is a great vocalist. But there's harmonies on those chorus vocals and nobody else is singing into a mic in the vid. Not to mention the acoustic breakdown sounding pretty acoustic for a strat. I'd be surprised if they could get a sound that close with just a pedal.

1st time I heard revis and caught out in the rain I was a truck driver passing through Fresno and the DJ said this is revis I was hooked for life!

One of the best live raw vocal I've ever heard
Man I wish more music of this style came out more today. Just pure rock
I couldnt agree more
I second that.
yes make it happen.
So many bands try to get fancy now a days, it's really sad. This is pure rock. I miss Revis a lot, I'm a huge fan of these guys.
yea its all about being a rapper now, voting blue, claiming non-binary and transitioning everything to electric. America is dead.

Surely one of the best vocal performances live

Poor management and internal disagreements...
He is an excellent vocalist!
