  • Back in early April, we flew over to Montreal for a quick overnight getaway. After my long IMC flight back from Teterboro, I was thrilled to be doing an IFR flight in VMC conditions. It turned out to be a really nice flight, and an even better visit to beautiful Montreal. Join us for the flight and some highlights of our trip.

    Loving the IFR videos! You've definitely found an IFR GA niche not many other youtube channels fill in southern Ontario (and beyond!). Looking forward to seeing the panel upgrade

      Thanks, Peter, I appreciate that! The plane's going in starting today for the upgrade, I'm excited to see how it turns out. :)

      @@corbiewhite7113 Hey Corbie, I've flown over YXU a couple of times but never stopped there (I have been to CYSA a few times). I would like to at some point, as I went to grad school at Western so it's like a homecoming. Happy to ping you when I do.

    Just returned from Montreal. Beautiful city. I think if we fly it from Michigan, we might go to Plattsburgh, NY and make a road-hop from there. Only option until Canada approves BasicMed!

      @WingsOverTO  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t realize you weren’t allowed to fly here with BasicMed. That sucks.

    Montreal is my hometown. Another take on the $100.00 hamburger!. Beautiful flight. Take care.

      Thanks, Reale! I hadn't though of this as a different version of the $100 hamburger, but that makes sense. :)

    St Hubert, yes, thats where two C150's had an eyeball over the shopping centre, where most of the broadcasts are in french
    but the tower staff are amazing on the ground.
    You are better off visiting friendly LaChute.

      Is it easy to get into downtown Montréal from La Chute?

    What was the tie down fee at the FBO? Thinking I might fly out there in the next few weeks.

    • @mk_adventures
      @mk_adventures ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We went with the HUB FBO, which is somewhat pricey. They have a $60 ramp fee per 24 hours (and there is NO grace period - we were one hour late getting back and they charged us for another 24 hours). On top of that, not only is their 100LL quite pricey but if you get less than 150L they have a $50 surcharge for bringing it to your plane (there's no self-serve option on the field, and the surcharge is still $25 if you get more than 150L). On the plus side, they have a courtesy car for $50 per 24 hours, which is quite a bit less than a car rental, and they're super friendly.
      If you plan to stay more than 24 hours, consider the LUX FBO instead. They said their ramp fee is $100 per turn; they don't have a courtesy car but would arrange a Hertz rental car to be available. They do offer 100LL and didn't mention any delivery surcharge.

    Love the Atwater Market! Never flew into St Hubert, but flew from YOW to YUL in my Yankee in 78 before moving west. Spent my high school years in Pointe Claire. It all looked pretty familiar! Keep the videos coming!

    • @WingsOverTO
      @WingsOverTO  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very cool! I’d love to fly into YUL but the landing fees at the big Canadian airports are ridiculous now. If I remember right it’s a minimum $150 or so in landing fees for a small plane at YUL. Thanks for watching!
