I've loved Alvin Lee since I was about 13. Didn't know he'd passed. Very sad day for British blues. We've lost another guitar legend. Thanks for the thrills mate!.RIP.
Perfection! Sounds so much as if it was around the time of Woodstock. It's 43 years later. The world has lost a great guitarist. Another RRHOF Oversight. RIP Alvin Lee
He was one of the best blues ock guitarists ever and as this video shows he still had a lot of good rockin' left in him. He is sadly missed by all in rock. Is he in the rock and roll hall of fame? If not, he should be. There's a big jam going on in heaven.......
No. He is not in the R&R HOF. Either Solo or with Ten Years After. It will be hard for me to take the R&R HOF serious until they are in. Bon fucking Jovi is in for Christ's sake.
2012?? he still sounded great. rest in peace Alvin with that great band you joined up there with the others thank you and the boys for all the awesome rock and blues.
Never saw him..Saw Zeppelin..Floyd..Stones in the 70s..never caught Alvin..my brother did in 77 Winterland..said it was a great show..RIP my brother..RIP Alvin💝
Saw Zep & TYA. Alvin Lee's band's show one of the ten best concerts I've ever attended, Zeppelin ... kinda disappointing actually - maybe my expectations were too high. RS & PF ... no real interest but know I'm in the minority there. Ten Years After WERE great live.
My favorite song by him was "I'd Love to Change the World". The guitar work is sublime. The general feel of the song is a ballad and yet he plays, that which I consider, one of the best leads he ever recorded.
Bruno SCORPIONUDO Your trying to tell me that Gary Moore die too? Let's start this again? Your saying that Gary Moore is dead now? How did he die? And what date did he die?
September 17, the family of Alvin Lee releases a Cd of this entire show on Rainman Records. This is something to look forward to rush out and buy a copy!
Helaas vandaag oveleden :-( WITH GREAT SADNESS WE HAVE TO ANNOUNCE THAT ALVIN UNEXPECTEDLY PASSED AWAY EARLY THIS MORNING AFTER UNFORSEEN COMPLICATIONS FOLLOWING A ROUTINE SURGICAL PROCEDURE. R.I.P. Alvin (1944-2013)
Funny, I remember when this was the most spectacular music in the world, the ultimate excitement. At this point it was nostalgia for people in their late fifties. That transcendental, cutting edge feeling had gone. Said he died, but just like all guitarist from his generation, he had lost his relevance a long time ago. Jeff Beck is the only player who escaped that fate.
@Peter Hendriks Just because a musician ages and is not interested in huge audiences anymore does not make him/her irrelevant. I think many overlook the influence Lee had for many other guitarists, allthough he has is not named often. Most likely because the other guitarists of that era had the advantage of tv and were able to copy and reproduce his techniques. Yet he stood out, not just by his techniques, but also doing other stuff with his guitar musically, which often is only credited to Hendrix. Alvin lost(?) the agressive playing he had in this song at Woodstock wether by age or by choice, I remember an interview where he said he found the Woodstock version a bit rough. Perhaps just his taste and thus approach changed.
@@YorkyOne That is very true, but he never was a one trick pony anyway. Never sold his soul to rock and roll, nor to folk for that matter. Same goes for Robert Fripp. In my country, the Netherlands, Jan Akkerman remains creative.. However, players like that often turn into musicians' musicians.
"just like all guitarist from his generation, he had lost his relevance a long time ago. Jeff Beck is the only player who escaped that fate." What an ignorant assinine comment. Jeff Beck lost relevance about the same time the Yardbirds broke up........Alvin and TYA, TYL and solo were a Top 5 LIVE Rock and Roll show from the late 60s until his death..period.

Richard Thompson is of that generation and still very relevant. No resting on his laurels for RT.
