Years ago, I saw a homemade one that sat on top of the woodstove and spun it's fan from the woodstove heat. This was NOT made with one of those wafer thingys that create electricity from heat. It might have been steam. Really wishing I could find that thing again.

How it works: There's a little man in the tube under the fire. He pulls on a chain to move the piston in and out in an attempt to cool down, and the friction of the chain pulling creates energy to light the bulb. Duh.

Do they have a manual online? A video instruction tutorial would be a good idea for the company to produce.

Would lighter fluid make it burner hotter and thus make the machine go faster?

Oh, man... The glass tubes break? That's a bumber. It's not like these come with dozens of them :/

Turn the flame way down! Way too much soot! The tiniest flame is sufficient. There are "low temp" flameless versions that will run from the heat while sitting on top of your coffee cup. I had one years ago that ran from a dab of Sterno.

Great advice, unless you are running it on lamp oil and trying to get it to run fast enough to generate enough current to light a LED. :). It will run on a very small flame for sure. The manual recommends running it on alcohol for more heat to pick the RPMs up.

@@1D10CRACY Alcohol should be the 90% variety

Very nice little engine. It’s just a pity I can’t get mine to run

Thanks for the video. Over 7 months later and the instructions are still trash. In this day and age the instructions should be available via .pdf or something.
