Thank you so much for this! Very straightforward tutorial that saved me. I was so frustrated that the Media Encoder GIF presets looked terrible and were huge file sizes. Now my GIFs are buttery smooth and small. :)
You're a life saver! Thank you, I don't understand Adobe Suite so this was extremely helpful, all previous gifs were 120mb but this one was 4mb only :D
Thank you for this tutorial. Even as a "pro" graphic designer, I am learning how to use after effects via youtube, and this has be invaluable! Cheers to you. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! This helped me immensely. Been using media encoder for exporting gif's but I always had some pixelations/artifacts on the rendered file. Not only did this method fix that problem it also made the file size smaller. Earned a sub
Hey, what do you mean by file was bigger than original? And are you high-res images for GIFs? That is not really recommended to do, you should be using vectors as much as possible to reduce the file size
Currently Photoshop only supports upto 500 frames. Either you can reduce the frame rate of the exported video or use platforms like ezgif.com to convert videos into GIFs
I am trying to convert MP4 to gif (high quality - low size), how do i do it? Which software should i use. I used Da vinci but file size became way to long. please let me know. Thank you
I tried this, but the GIF end product is bigger by 14MB instead :( I guess I go back to the method that I use previously.. and trying to find better way to make the GIF file size smaller while retaining the quality.
Did you try all the techniques and options that were shown in the video? This is unusual behaviour and there might be a few settings which need to be fixed
This happens sometimes if you have a lot of Adobe apps open. Try closing all other apps except PS and try, it should work. The memory that we are talking about here is the RAM and not your storage.
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! I wasn't able to post Gifs for my work's Twitter page because of the size. You deserve a subscriber.
Glad this helped, new videos coming super soon!

Hey, I found out that if you reduce the "dither" the size also gets smaller. I'm not sure if it has some downsides, I can't tell the difference.
True, thanks for adding this!
This helped helped me so much! Reduced the file size by HALF just by bringing the dither down to 99%
Hi, I don't know if Vimeo updated it's design but I can't find any of the settings you mentioned. Is this still posible to do?
Thanks
I tried this with a more complexe image and the file ended bigger than the original. your example only serves for very basic graphics.

Photoshop's video frames to layers import only allows up to 500 frames. What would you suggest for an animation that has to be longer than that?

Thank you
Try using PS as shown in the tutorial, you might get good results from it
damn, i can lower my GIF size from 190mb to 16mb,lol. Thanks!!!
Wow, great to great that!
for mutlicolours in cirle animation when i export as giff its showing small dots( pexels) in circle what can be solution?
Try a higher resolution or simpler colors since GIFs are a dated technology now
How do you do this if you need a transparent background? thanks
Export in QuickTime format, select 'Animation' as the Video Codec, change the bit depth to 8bpc+alpha. Then convert the video to GIF using Photoshop
but it Does not gives transparent Gif if we use this method.?
Media encoder exported at 79MB, photoshop got it down to 9MB. I wish i could get it closer to 2MB without sacrificing quality
Try reducing the resolution or the frame rate. In my experience, frame rate makes a lot of difference and can also give you a stylistic look
Life saver
Glad it helped :)
tnks bro
Really appreciate it!
I tried this, but the GIF end product is bigger by 14MB instead :( I guess I go back to the method that I use previously.. and trying to find better way to make the GIF file size smaller while retaining the quality.
Sorry to hear that. GIF are always a hit and a miss :(
The number of colors drops when I try to export the gif, do you know what it could be?
While exporting you could change the color bit depth from 8bit to 16 or even 32 if that works better for you
i cannot find the import video frames to layers option on photoshop 2022. any help please?
Are you on an Apple Silicon powered Mac? If yes, please update your Photoshop. The newer 2023 version supports it on Apple Silicon Macs as well
If you cant update the app, you can run the app on Rosetta and get the functionality back but it might make Photoshop slower
how to add transparency gif to media encoder ?
While exporting a GIF from Media Encoder, you can change the preset to 'Animated GIF ( with transparency)'. It will do the trick for you!
@@rapiddesigns7764 There is no transparency option in Priests
@@rapiddesigns7764 How did you activate it?
@@rapiddesigns7764 How can I get the priest from you?

is the background not transparent ?
This would not provide transparent background. Are you facing any issues or want to do something specific?
My video has 20mb, when i convert to gif got 200mb, whatt should i do?
Did you try all the techniques and options that were shown in the video? This is unusual behaviour and there might be a few settings which need to be fixed
what happens if i dont see my frames on the bottom
Didn't really get you. Can you be more specific?
@@rapiddesigns7764 on the bottom you see the images of the animation for the gif. I don’t see that
idk but it's not working on me :") it said it doesnt have enough memory while my memory is still lots

not working la, 193mb for a 8 second gif video
Skip after effects and just use photoshop for animations?? Who need after effects if you going to edit it in psd.
