Honda NC750X DCT - Off-road mission up a mountain

- In December 2019, my cousin and I did a trip from Cape Town to the Eastern Cape, where we journeyed though many towns and villages. The town of Hogsback is where we decided to start planning our route back home. At this point we've done +-1200KM, over a couple of days.This clip shows us following a vague route on Google Maps which took us up over a mountainous route, which seemed to only be used by shepherds and locals.
Bikes:2019 Honda NC750X DCT 1997 BMW F650 FunduroNB: I am pretty new to motorcycling and don't have the best of everything, however, I try to get out there and make the best of what I've got. With improvements as I go along.

i am glad to see someone that is taking the nc off road, shows the capability of the bike, although not an adventure bike, it is still capable if you just have some patience, been looking at one of these for a whilr now, and must admit that you have convinced me more than ever that i am making the rite choice.
This...is exactly why i built the NC700 Adventure...my way 👌
When I watch this video I honestly cringe 😅I was so inexperienced at this point. Had street tyres, and minimal gear, poor audio and video quality.
Ironically its the video with the most views on my channel hehe.
Thank you so much for this. I'm also new to the motorcycling worls and am considering the NC, as a daily commuter primarily, but I'd love to do a trip through the small towns of the Karoo and seeing this gave me the answers I've needed.

Awesome road and a great video :) but you need different tires to have more fun offroad ;)
This is so amazing about the true capability of this bike, I didn't think it could go on such route. Did you change to offroad tyres? because I feel like you need more traction, it seems more dangerous if you go downhill with such slippery. I got my NC750X in my garage, since I'm still getting my A class driving license in the country where I live now, but I am looking forward to a lot of fun with it in the summer :)

Good torque on that NC. I don't think the 2021 model could do that as they reduced the ground clearance. Nice trip!
My thoughts exactly.. keep in mind these were the terrible stock tyres. I've since had Metas E07 and Metzeler Karoo 3, makes a big difference

Thanks for the upload. I wanted to see 750x off road for a while. I guess the experience would have been more revealing if you had off-road tires. On another note, I noticed a number of times your 750x stalled. Since this model is DCT, how did it happen? I assumed DCT would make it difficult to stall.
Hey thanks for the comment. I don't think it stalled.. can you tell which point in the video you think it stalled so I can comment?
@@callan_blount for instance at 3:41. and 7:30. If you say it did not, then it must have been your audio gone off momentarily. On another note, did you find it useful to be in manual mode all the time? I forgot if you covered this possibility or not. Cheers
DCT vs. Manual.. which one would you prefer for off-roading?
With manual you could probably pop the clutch and get the front wheel up a bit were necessary

Hi thank you, I used the stock tyres. Dunlop trailmax (not good)
@@callan_blount I definitely would have chosen different tires for that trip. If not full offroad tires, Heidenau , Or Shinkos. Something with more bite in that dirt.
17 inch wheel in front sucks. at least 19 need on that roads.
This video moreles shows that this a bit cheap bike makes a lot of fun and is any time underestimated. I have NC I wanted sale it and buy Tenere, but I saw guy who made silk way on NC. And I realised this bike is good enough for me - low consumption of fuel nice handling on highway. And is capable on gravel. No off road - but who really needs it?
