If you're not getting as much run-time from your Drive Spitfire Scout or Drive Spitfire Scout DLX Mobility Scooter batteries, or if your batteries simply will not take a charge, it may be time to replace the batteries in your battery box.
Replacing the batteries in a battery box is a pretty straightforward process, we'll show you just how easy it can be in this video!

I had to get a battery box because mine was shipped with a cracked handle. I did change the batteries just like the video shows. Disconnect the black first, then the red positive. I swapped batteries and hooked the red first then when I put the black terminal on it sparked. I jumped. Then I finished and put the battery box on the scooter and turned on the key I had error codes flashing two flashes. What did I do wrong??
The battery pack is stuck on my drive scout is there a special way to remove?

if your scooter box isn't charging, Check the fuses in the wires to make sure they haven't popped.
Do you know what size screws are required to attach the top of the box. (I seem to have a mixture and some missing - pre-owned)

This answer is only a year later, but for the benefit those who may have the same question - the screws are 4 mm x 0.7 mm pitch. I had to hunt around the house for the right screwdriver, but mine worked, it has 4 mm diameter head and the shank of the screwdriver about 5" long. A magnetic bit helps in getting the screw down the long hole and through the through-hole of the bottom cover when you try to put the case back together.
The negative terminal plate always gets too hot and often burns the plastic causing intermittent stoppage. Any fix to this .?
Hey, did you ever get an answer to this? I believe I'm having the same issue. My scooter power was dipping earlier and then went off entirely. Strong smell of burning plastic!

What size batteries did you use a d what is the max that you can use like a 12v 22ah is that ok
The batteries we installed in this box are 12v 22Ah. Depending on what size battery box you have, the maximum battery size that would fit would be 12v 15Ah (for the "standard" size battery box which can hold either 12v 12Ah or 12v 15Ah batteries) or 12v 22Ah (for the "high capacity" size battery box which can hold either 12v 18Ah or 12v 22Ah batteries). For example, if your battery box has 12v 12Ah batteries, you can upgrade to 12v 15Ah batteries; if your battery box has 12v 18Ah batteries, you can upgrade to 12v 22Ah batteries. I hope this helps! 2 of they screws have a plastic covering that i cant remove. How do i remove it?
how to remove last 2 screws???
@@scubaman2003 we figured it out. On the bottom there were these plastic cylinders that were covering the last 2 screws. They appeared to be apart of the whole case but you can actually just pull them out and get to the screws.

I can't get the lid off mine. It seems really stuck on the back side how do I get it off
same issue, can only remove 6 screws. 2 have some plastic caps in them i can't remove. Can't open the box. Newer/older model than video?
