  • Just because you didn’t get any sleep last night doesn’t mean you don’t show up for work.

There has been times where I worked long hours and didn’t want to cook a meal at home as I would lose sleep, sometimes it’s worth it to get a quick meal at a fast food joint, then you can maximize your sleep.

That is a very good idea!! I’ve gone without food due to being so tired. I really like your idea of getting fast food. Staying between the lines on the way home can be difficult with little to no sleep for several days, so my mind wasn’t always on the ball thinking about stopping to get food. I do pull over more now to pick up some food or something to drink as it also helps keep me awake while driving. Thank you for commenting!!

If you joined up with the Ironworkers expecting an easy gig you may as well turn around and go home before you start 👍 theres a reason why people say Ironworkers are a different breed, this shit isn’t easy

Definitely not an easy profession but well worth the effort. Most people can’t handle the job’s requirements or the lack of sleep. I love this line of work so it has much more pros than cons for me. If anyone expects to make the big bucks in ironworking or welding while expecting an easy gig, they are in for a huge surprise. Love this ironworking and welding lifestyle!!! Thank you for your comment!

I find this mentality is lacking in my generation (early-mid 20s). They all want to look cool with the steel-toed boots and carhartts but belly-ache at the early start times or long shifts, they all quit after a few months or call in for whatever reason they can come up with. They just don’t want to work, go to work etc. Never understood people with a personality with such a lack of work ethic.

I completely understand what you mean!! Some of my punks on a job site or my students at welding school can’t handle the getting up early or actually doing something at work. Sweating is a foreign concept to them. I never understood other people’s lack of work ethic either. Thank you for commenting!!!

Not really…. I don’t know what your point is exactly. There are plenty of us that have worked long shifts and make much more than $10 an hour.
