    • @seaofcables
      @seaofcables  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it intrigued me as well, certainly a quite unique module, new firmware is being written by Blukac as we speak (alpha version already available to download) which offers an alternate mode as well wherby rather than stacking the re-synthesized audio streams you can select and play them individually using CV in the layer control allowing them to overlap and fade in and out as per the controls, this offers further experimentation.

      Thanks so much for the kind comments 🙏 and for taking time out to listen, Modular sort of gets into your blood, I myself only took the leap from traditional synths around 4 years back but now couldn't imagine making music any other way; with modular the only limitations are your own imagination (and your pocket of course, as it certainly aint cheap!) ; If you haven't done so already, do please check out some of my other pieces and Like & Subscribe if you would like notifications of future uploads 👍

And yeah, I sadly had to sell my Modules when I was moving but plan on getting back into it.. Even though I love VCV Rack, there's just nothing quite like grabbing the Patch Cables not knowing where you'll end up in a few hours, getting truly lost in the moment. Until I can do that again, TH-cam will have to do haha!

    Love this module. Exactly what I was looking for. It’s almost like Paul’s stretch but in a module. I’ve always used clouds, but clouds doesn’t do what this is doing or maybe it does and I haven’t figured out yet.

    • @seaofcables
      @seaofcables  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks for your kind comments and the Sub, much appreciated. The EP is a very diffferent beast to both Clouds, Beads and Arbhar (which I am fortunate to have in my racks as well) as these are all Granular synthesizers, i.e. they sample sound and split it into tiny grains which are then layered wheras the EP, is always listening to its inputs and dependant on the chosen memory setting, then samples a sound, complete with any nuances within the original source sound, undertakes some complex mathematics and then completely re-synthesises it into clickless, endless audio streams which can then be layered (2 independant channels with 5 layers per channel) using variable fade in and outs to build a fluid wall of sound. The layers can be erased and re-recorded at any time and they will then cross fade dependant on the fade in and out settings on the module. A new EP firmware is currently in development by Blukac that will also offer an alternate mode whereby the audio streams can be selected and played individually, controlled by CV rather than just layering them, this should open up many new avenues of exploration with this module.

      @@seaofcables oh wow this functionality sounds awesome, thanks for the detail, it has helped me decide that I need one..... Back down the Rabbit hole :-D

    • @seaofcables
      @seaofcables  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to have been of help, hope you get hold of an EP and enjoy experimenting with it. It is a fairly unique module, some may say a "one trick pony" this may be so but it is good at what it does and new firmware opens up more sonic opportunities as well; probably not for everyone, but for ambient it is quite a handy module easily creating a wash of sound behind other more dominant sounds and of course you don't have to tune it as although it resynthesises sound it retains its pitch so is naturally in tune with the source. It sounds great fed through effects or swept by a multi-peak filter like QPAS and if you feed its output into a granular module like beads or clouds you should also be able to control its pitch via the CV input of the granular modules, just a couple of handy tips!

  • @Limbic1000
    @Limbic1000 ปีที่แล้ว

    It sounds really great Keith, wow!
    I am very interested in EP but what is annoying to me is that you will lose all your stuff, layers after power cycle.. Damn

    • @seaofcables
      @seaofcables  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks for your kind comments. It is true the EP can't save a drone between power cycles but for a possible workaround, should you have a sampling module, say like Nebulae, Morpogene or Arbhar etc you could always sample any interesting drone you create with the EP and play back from these modules or even play back the recorded drone into the EP for resynthesis. I suppose the immediacy of being able to create a "fluid wall of sound" from a simple button press and the volatility and uniqueness of a created sound, are possibly the modules key features. Every drone you create will intrinsically be unique!; anyway thanks again and if you haven't done so already, check out some of my otherw works and like / subscribe to be notified of future uploads, regards, Keith

    Wow. That was beautiful, you honestly convinced of keeping my EP, I was just having a hard time with it. Any tips? As far as what to clock in the EP?

    • @seaofcables
      @seaofcables  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks for the kind comments 🙏; the EP does takes a little while to fit into your workflow but its great experimenting with different types of inputs and memory settings and also using other modules to trigger, switch or erase sound captures. I tend use use my Nebulae v2 to feed in various samples, capture this in multiple layers and then use an LFO to modulate the twin VCA's, fading layers in and out, and then build a track around this as with "Endless". The EP also sounds good when fed into stereo multi-peak filters such as QPAS and into granular modules like Clouds, Arbar and Beads as well. My latest track (Etherial) also uses the EP into QPAS and Clouds to form the under-pinning drone for the track, please do check this out as well. The new v.1.2 Firmware also allows you to have different sound layers and then switch and fade between them using CV control. The EP is great for filling in "emptiness" amongst other sounds and of course is always perfectly in tune with its source. Anyway, thanks for taking time out to listen to my work and if you haven't done so already, please check out some of my other pieces and Like & Subscribe if you would like notifications of future uploads 👍

    • @seaofcables
      @seaofcables  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi again, forgot to say, if your feed the EP into a granular module like Beads, Clouds or Arbhar you would also be able to control the pitch of the EP via CV, you would just need to adjust the grain size and density to suit!

      Hi Will, many thanks for the kind comments and for taking time out to watch and listen. My current clock setup is currently from a Conductive Labs NDLR Midi sequencer (merely because this has a simple and readily available rotary knob for tempo), this in turn clocks Pams New Workout which then clocks Hermod. The NDLR was at 40 bpm and Pams was running at /4 so around 10 bpm is my guess.
