- 1971 की लड़ाई शुरू होने से पहले ही पाकिस्तानी पनडुब्बी गाज़ी को भारतीय विमानवाहक विक्रांत को डुबोने के लिए भेजा गया था लेकिन गाज़ी खुद ही डूब गई. 1971 युद्ध के 50 वर्ष की तीसरी कड़ी में रेहान फ़ज़ल बता रहे हैं गाज़ी के डूबने की कहानी.

I was working in Indian Navy from Aug 1962 to Aug 1976.I was posted at INS Shivaji as a training Instrutor from early 1970 to Mid 1972.During the period of 1971 war Indian Navy took over a Fishig Trawler from Union Carbide and used this as a harbour protection force after fitting of two Guns on Foxcle and two on quarterdeck for Visakhapatnam Harbour.I was asked to proceed to Visakhapatam in md Noveber 1971 and appointed as Chief Engineer of the vessel during war period.Vessel had 3 officers and 8 crew members.
On night of 3rd 4th December our vessel was asked to follow INS Rajput around 9 to 10 PM.Crew were asked to keep watch as INS Rajput was doing depth chargers while proceeding.Next Morning we knew about Gazi sinking.
Once war was over around last week of December our vessel was used as a Diving Support vessel since we had large winches and heavy power generators.Divers were sent down to Gazhi after making openings in her Hull.
Divers removed the bodies of Gazhi Captain and few others.Bridge and Engine Log books and few gunny bags of documents were removed from Damaged Gazhi.These were later packed and sent to New Delhi as proof to Indian Parlimentarians who were raising questions about sinking of Gazhi.
Once all this was done I returned back to INS Shivaji around Mid January 1972

@@patrioticindian5194 Truth is written in my details as these are facts.As Ghazi was moving in to Visakhapatnam harbour,INS Rajput (Acting as INS VIKRANT) and my ship was following her,INS Rajput was dropping explosive charges while leaving harbour.Possibility of the explosive charges exploding at near Submarine Hull since submarine had high internal gas concentration possibility of explosive charges exploding near a weaker part of submarine Hull causing hole and leading to submarine explosion.As in such cases exact cause can not be known but credit has to be given to Indian Navy for our planning and execution needs appreciation.

Really wonderful historical facts....a way of delivery is really impressive
It's 50 years since indian Navy's war ship, INS Khukri sank outside Karachi harbour and the skipper chose to go down with his shop on the hoary Navy tradition. It's also 50 years when Pak's submarine came to Vizag surreptitiously to attack our aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. Alert fishermen got suspicious when they saw oil slick appear on the water. Indian Navy officers dropped depth charges from small crafts which destroyed Ghazi.
