Sony announced their new 2023 line-up of TVs and their new QD-OLED, Mini-LED, and more entry-level LED panels are looking pretty enticing. Plouffe flew down to NYC to check out what's coming soon to see if Sony is making big changes or if they're playing it safe.
Sony provided flights and accommodation for the event, but did not get any sort of input or review on this video.

A 200% increase means 200% of the original value on top. So the end result would be more like 3000 nits. What you mean is a 100% increase or 200% of the brightness of the previous model.

I always think people should say "2x the original" or "half the original" because saying "increase" or "decrease" usually leads to mistakes. And even if you don't make a mistake people will invariably interpret what you said incorrectly anyway.

You simply can't, unless you use a splitter or some other kind of work around. But you can't do it naturally. Others have commented here that the reason Sony's tvs don't have all 4 ports being HDMI 2.1 is because they (and a few other manufacturers) use the SoC/main chip from MediaTek who is the one who keeps making new chips with the 2 HDMI 2.1 port limit. Bandwidth. HDMI 2.1 allows for uncompressed high bitrate audio. Important for technologies like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
As a side note, lots of soundbars will have HDMI inputs that you can hook things into, so you're not losing a port. Mine has 4, so it also acts like a HDMI hub, all passing through to a singular 2.1 port on the TV. Cuts down on cable clutter, as only one cable is going to the TV, while the rest hide behind the soundbar.

It's a super random use case. But as someone with my tv in my bedroom. A feature like that would be cool cause sometimes i game from the other side of the room from my desk/chair. And sometimes i game sitting on the edge of my bed which is just 3 or 4 feet from where my tv sits. When i play that close, if the tv is too big, then it makes it tough to look at the peripheral view area or sometimes can be irritating for my eyes. So this feature would be uniquely useful for me to be able to play sitting on the edge of my bed and scale the "screen" down to be say 27 or 32 inch.

I wish TV makers would make HDMI ports on the right hand side of the tv as well.
