This recipe turned out awesome, the technique to flip every 30 sec gave my steak amazing flavor and it was evenly cooked.. taste was out of this world. Thank you for sharing
Had to comment about this! I'm only 16 and this was the first time I ever cooked a steak and DANG! That gotta be the best steak I've had in a hot while.
Just made this recipe , really came out great ! I peeled the garlic and added some potato wedges with the steak , so that potatoes cooked with the steak. it went well with arugula salad. Thank You!
I've been cooking steak on cast iron for about 4months now. I gotta say the best way to cook a steak is to not touch if constantly. I also found out if you dry out your steak with a paper towel before you season it 30min before you cook it, you get a nice crust and sear on it. For a steak that size 2.5min each side works and for rendering the fat, 1-1.5min at any time of the cooking and it melts in your mouth.
Flipping depends on your cooking location. If you are searing on the stove top, flipping frequently works well, but if you are grilling, it's easier to get those nice grill marks if you only flip once and rotate them once.
What a great way to prepare the perfect steak! Tried it, and it was absolutely great! The idea of starting out on the side, the 30 second-turn and the added garlic was completely new to me, but I loved it! I will definitely keep using this technique, so thanks to you, good chef!
Mysterious, how the simplest methods are also so often the most successful... THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your way worked absolutely brilliantly. Try it everyone! (And obviously, follow his instructions to the letter)
I tried the flip method but went back to a couple of minutes on each side and then into the oven. Also, you should smash the garlic to better combine with the butter.
My technique is very similar! I throw in the butter and garlic after the first couple flips every minute and I add fresh rosemary and thyme! Thanks for the vid.
I'm a believer in not constantly flipping but rather a couple minutes on each side to sear and then pull it and cover it for 5 minutes. Oh and seeing how you didnt peel or crush your garlic you werent infusing any flavors with the butter.
You don’t need to constantly keep flipping the steak. Set it, sear it, turn it over once. One of the biggest tips I can give anyone is let the meat warm to room temperature before cooking it. Once cooked, let it sit for at least 10 minutes before cutting.
I love my cast iron as well. I cook my steak nearly the same way, but I add my garlic to my butter and melt it in the microwave. Then as soon as my steak is done I set it in foil pour my melted garlic butter over it, and let it rest.
Thank you for this video. I am a completely new to cooking (I know... embarrassing). But anyways this step by step taught me how to cook the steak perfectly. Thanks again!
Nice technique. I prefer to lay the steak down for about 4 min. Then flip and start basting with butter every 30 seconds or so until it's a beautiful medium rare. If you want garlic... crush it next time.
Can I know what’s the heat settings at your oven? I set mine to maximum and sear for 1 minute and flip another side. Sometimes it might overcook. I suppose is the thickness of the beef that matters. I might be using thinner slice.
My technique- generous on the salt and pepper, melted butter 350 degrees, 7 minutes on each side, comes out perfectly crisp on the outside nice and pink in the middle....let the steak rest while I saute some mushrooms in the same pan giving the mushrooms a nice taste....and if you wanna take it further raw shrimp cleaned, marinated in sriracha sauce cut up cilantro put that in squeeze half a lemon or whole which ever let that marinate until the steak and mushrooms are done then cook the shrimp 4 minutes on each side so it dont get rubbery #perfecto
The garlic flavor is inside so just adding a clove doesn't do much. I suggest mincing or smashing the garlic into the butter so it imparts flavor onto the steak.
My cast iron gets way too hot. I unfortunately have an electric oven and not a gas. It burns my butter almost immediately and my garlic and my steak honestly. I’m wondering if I turn it down if it’ll have the same effec t

Cut your garlic in thin slices like in Goodfellas. It completely melts into the butter.

If you don’t have garlic on hand can you sprinkle garlic powder on the steak with the salt ? Btw it looks absolutely delicious

really helpful. the steak turned out to be yumm...
I love the simple extraordinary cooking method, just 1 doubt though, why is the garlic clove not peeled ?
It doesnt matter, it only you use for basting.. I guess
I'm a believer in not constantly flipping but rather a couple minutes on each side to sear and then pull it and cover it for 5 minutes. Oh and seeing how you didnt peel or crush your garlic you werent infusing any flavors with the butter.
92xl I flip every 15-20 seconds al a Heston. Yes my man. No pepper at the start too because the temp is so high. Bit of pepper and butter at the end
He was using herbed boursin cheese
Yup. His garlic wasnt crushed at all
92xl true
I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed the Garlic issue
Your technique is excellent. I like the addition of rosemary. I also like to make a chimichurry and goat cheese. or compound butter.
Bacon Bandit I put thyme

Try it with a large grilled fried pepper. Of course, grilled onion.
Worked perfectly for me, thanks!
I loved it! Thank you!
I usually season with beef stock cube and olive oil (mixed to a paste) then flip every minute, your steak looks delicious though
Have cooked 4 or 5 steaks this way now. Absolutely superb results.

If you are asking oven
I would make it HOT AF like 200C or 500F
if you meant his stove top he said hot as possible
You want that cast iron GLOWING
Looks great, Some doubt about the "constant flip
' technique" rather than the" sear"without flipping" method Get ready to deal with smoke alarms !

That's how you do it!! I wasn't able to get the nice brown color, and it was keep turning gray. Now I know how to cook steak. Thanks.
no, this is not the way to cook steak.. this dude is over flipping it.
Omg that compound. That is an incredible idea. I love boursin cheese

Good technique to cook steak
this is how I'll do it tonight! thanks for the amazing vids.
Why were you so scared to use salt. Most of the seasoning comes off when you put it in The pan. That’s also one very large steak
Hes using table salt.
Looks delightful
Good technique.
as opposed to throwing the Clove in you should crush the garlic and butter together then add that in this is a lot more effective.
Thanks for the tip🍲
My steak turned out great - thanks!
Looks Awesome! What kind of cheese was that?
Boursin

That butter cheese & garlic is not melting is the steak cold?
do you recommend to just roast the stake so that you dont need to flip it every 30 seconds?
Not sure you mentioned how done it is. Seems medium. Wondering how to have it well done without burning it.
He said medium rare
Wow that looks so nice
Do you rinse it before cooking or it's not necessary?
14 oz Strip is what I order. Porterhouse is my favorite but few places now offer PH for 1.

thats a pretty nice steak man
This is a nice recipe, u should add more butter so it doesn’t burn so quickly
Thanks for the great advice!
I use a special seasoning I made from scratch to make it a good taste
I got a little confused. Is it 8 minutes WITH the basting or without the basting? If its without the basting then how much time should i baste?
Excellent 👌
